Ha! I'm 52. That would go over well!:noway: ( Telling them I'm pregnant to get them off my back! )

I recently became a platelet donor for the first time. 25 years ago when my Mom was a cancer patient I was in the hospital giving blood. I have a rare blood type and I give whenever it's not going to compromise myself or the safety of others. It makes me feel sick and I fainted once. The nature of my job demands that I am…

I rode my bike 102 miles on Aug 4. Taking a day off today!

I was able to wear a small pair of bike shorts but the scale says I weigh about 5 pounds more than this time last year. However, I have been doing strength and conditioning for a year that I had not been doing before.

wait... We can't have bacon?

I'd live there in a heartbeat.

All of the above and lame, lame , lame. Where I live that is. Not the particular house I live in, but the town. An armpit. The rest of the state is nice.

all of the above. No I don't live where my picture was taken in.

I like to have a lot of personal space too. Someone will almost always start their workout right next to me at Curves, when all the other machines are open! I think it's because they are used to starting on a particular machine. I like to mix it up so there's not muscle memory going on.

I think also the material of the bike shorts has to be form fitting enough that it wont move around. As you get more and more into biking you may need to buy a good pair of shorts more often because you will probably drop pounds and the material will get loose over time.I have one pair of Pearl Izumi symphony shorts that…

I had that a lot when I was using bike shoes that were like light hikers. I switched up to a stiffer sole shoe and that lasted for a while. Now I have arthritis in my feet and I will be getting a carbon soled shoe soon. hope it helps, it's a big investment. Incidentally, smartwool PHD running socks seem to work the best for…

I used to get that when I was a runner. I wore Nike running shoes that were built on a combination last which meant there was a board in the heel for stability and a seam down the middle on the bottom. it had given me a callous over time which caused some irritation. Now many years later I have arthritis in the ball of my…

that almost looks like a musical instrument

I bought a Specialized 29er before Iceman. Gets you over ground pretty fast but doesn't like technical stuff, but then neither do I  I'm tall though so I didn't have to worry about that part. I couldn't part with a lot of money either, but it suits my needs , has good hydraulic disc brakes and more gears than my…

I just started using my fitness pal 2 weeks ago. About 4 years ago I lost 20 pounds and I find myself letting some of it creep back on. When the calendar said the big "50" and laughed at me that's when the problem started. So here I am. I have been a cyclist for 6 years and have done 12 century rides and a few smaller…

Just joined this group. I am a professional driver of a large vehicle and also a cyclist. I have actually been out driving my route and I come upon 2 cyclists going up a hill at 15 mph, a hill I can only get 9mph out of, btw. One of them motions for me to pass them.. Up hill. Double yellow line. I DON'T THINK SO! I don't…

I certainly understand your need for the surgery. Even if it HAD happened for cosmetic reasons I think that would even be justified. As hard as you worked to lose that weight you would certainly have a right to want to look good. I don't think there should be ANY social stigma attached to cosmetic surgery after weight loss.

I have a really cool dog but can't figure out how to post a pix.

Back in the early 80's I was told that I looked like Rita Coolidge who was a popular singer.

Sorry I had to repost all of this... I tried to have my husband ride behind me to coach me some, but I was afraid I'd fall and he'd run over me:laugh: our biggest joking around together happens on bike rides when he gets too close to me I'm always asking him if he's just trying to collect the life insurance money or what!…

My reason for being here is to avoid the middle age spread (weight gain) that comes with a decrease in metabolic rate that is happening due to my advanced years on this planet.:ohwell:

boiled eggs when pregnant. Chocolate pudding and green olives in one sitting. Still do that.

The iceman cometh, a mountain bike race. I did it last year and I would like to improve my time. I finished, but was slow. I gained 5 pounds over Christmas that I seem to have a hard time losing, but it may be metabolic changes from natural life circumstances. I just don't want to have it be too hard on some of my joints…

We talked about that target fixation after our ride. Some other people were with us, one that has a lot of experience, and a gal from my strength training class who at middle age has discovered she has a lot of athletic ability. I have read about that as it applies to tree skiing. I did have problems with the roots and…

Should you have your thyroid levels checked? Especially since you haven't changed anything.

Now as a cyclist I like Rev Theory's "hell yea"
