  • Congrats on baby! I’m in the same boat as you (but no pre e). I gained 70 pounds, am almost 8 weeks PP and want to lose at least 40 (20 of which were gained during pregnancy and I think most of what I’ve lost is water weight as well lol).
  • Take a hypnobirthing class or look up at-home programs. I read a book by Ina May (Guide to Childbirth) and it is AMAZING! I also took a labor and delivery class that was very helpful.
  • 36 weeks yesterday and still feeling pretty great. Although, I did hit a pregnancy "wall" about a week ago. As much as I have truly loved being pregnant (and had an amazing pregnancy without any sickness or symptoms), I am just ready to not be pregnant any more. I am excited and eager to meet my little guy and want 40…
  • I weighed myself once a week until about week 20. After that, I only got weighed at the doc.... at around week 30 I told them that I didn't want to know any more! I tried the fight the urge to weigh at week 34 and broke down and weighed myself at the gym (up 30 pounds). I now have only four weeks left and really just dont…
  • Thank you, that would be great. Congratulations on the little one... so beautiful =) Good luck with the D.R repair!
  • I have been running my whole pregnancy with zero issues up until about last week. I will be 28 weeks tomorrow and just recently have started feeling worn-out at the gym... I think pregnancy is finally catching up with me! I had it burned in my mind that I would be the type of person that would have no problem running up…
  • It is not necessarily just one more thing that is thrown out to worry moms =) I had a missed miscarriage and had to have a D&C procedure. That procedure, along with other things like LEEPS etc, can actually damage your cervix or literally decrease the length. Some people are high risk for very clear reasons. I think that…
  • Mine shortened a little between week 20/22. Yesterday, at week 23, it hadnt changed in the last week. Measurement is about 3.4 and doctor said that is normal as well. I am being monitored every two weeks due to the shortening between week 20 and 22. Are you being monitored?
  • I would be more concerned that he actually cried because of it!
  • I had been on several types of BC for almost nine years before we decided to try to conceive. I literally stopped my last pack of BC pills at the end of June and got pregnant on the 4th of July! I figured that it would take a few months but that obviously was not the case. I had a miscarriage (baby stopped growing at week…
  • I did a 5k about a year ago (pre-pregnancy) and was passed by a pregnant women the last 15-20 feet! I saw her at the beginning of the race and was wondergin how far along she was. Well, when she passed me (I ran it in 26:43) I just HAD to ask her how far along she was. Come to find out, she was 38 weeks along! She was in…
  • My midwife highly recommended this to me after I had started doing some minor research on my own. Classes at a birth center in my area are about $350 as well. I have heard nothing but amazing things and know other moms-to-be that will be taking the classes as well. Does anyone have recommendations for good hypnobirthing…
  • If you do planks, it is unecessary to do them for more than 1-2 minutes. People get so caught up in monthly plank challenges where they build up to 5+ minute planks... anything more than a minute or two is too much repetition for your core. It becomes pointless in a way.
  • If you have knee issues, do NOT try Insanity. I did Insanity and it would literally be pointless to think that you could skip over the portions that put stress on your knees... most of Insanity is jumping around and doing intense plyometrics. Do the eliptical in conjunction with a few days of lifting weights. Cardio burns…
  • It sounds like you aren't ready in general. Know what you want and where you want to put it; you will have it FOREVER. And of course they hurt but it makes it worth it. It wouldn't be as much fun if it didn't hurt =)
  • Every person is different and there are many factors that can contribute to your weight gain. Just make sure to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet and continue to exercise. There is nothing cuter than a lady with a baby bump at the gym =)
  • You've only been married approximately two months, right? People just don't change overnight and become pre-diabetic and overweight. There must have been signs before you two got married, so take this all with a grain of salt. Did you think that you would marry him and could change him into a healthy dude right away? My…

  • I think it unfair to judge someone based off of their poor artwork. Maybe they got it when they were young and were unfortunate/stupid enough to go to a crappy artist (who seemed decent). I WOULD judge them for not having enough common sense to cover up artwork during an interview lol. Don't get me wrong, I have a 1/2…
  • Seriously, why do people find tattoos offensive anyway? Unless the artwork itself is literally offensive, what does it matter if someone has permanent art on them? You either like it or you don't. Why do people care so much? You do you and I will do me. And I don't think that tattoos are becoming a fad... instead, I think…
  • I usually find that a morning workout sets me up for success the rest of the day! If you wake up and work out, you will tend to make more healthy decisions throughout the day.... who wants to ruin a fabulous morning workout as their day progresses? Two a days certainly are not harmful, so why don't you try it out for a…
  • It's all personal preference. Have you thought about what you would or would not do in the event that you found out your baby had some type of genetic issue? If you were to keep the baby, knowing there is an issue might help you prepare for a special needs child. If you wouldn't keep the baby in the event that it had an…
  • You are beautiful and you just don't know it! You will always be your own worst critic and trust me, the flaws that you see are not even close to what others see in you. We are always so harsh on ourselves when, what we really need to be saying is, "My body is not perfect but it is MINE and I LOVE it. My legs and arms…
  • 27 going on 20! From California and definitely not the best cheerleader when it comes to MFP but my intentions are good =)
  • Nobody is watching you, trust me. People at the gym are either self-absorbed or feel just as self-conscious as you do. Everyone is there for more or less the same reasons. The only bad workout is the one that you didn't do!
  • Instead of limiting yourself to how many sodas you can or can not have because you are on diet or trying to be fit, simply tell yourself that you just don't drink soda. We make up too many excuses for ourselves and give way too much personal leeway. Remove it from your lifestyle. And water does not taste bad... just force…
  • Subtly hint to him that his compliments make you feel good. You shouldn't have to 'train' him but maybe he honestly does not understand that his lack of compliments or adoration effect you. Pay him a few compliments as well... maybe he will pick up on it. Many people don't fish for compliments, but we must all admit that…
  • Congratulations! I am about 10 weeks along with number one and am beyond excited =)
  • Thanks everyone for sharing your stories; I love reading about everyones unique experiences! I am indeed an open person and will be telling my immediate family tomorrow after our first appointment (and I will be about 7 weeks along). However, I will wait 12 weeks to tell people at work. In my career field, people find out…
