  • I'm 5'4". When I started on here last January I was 164, I'm down to 140 which I've maintained for almost a year. I'd like to get down to 130 but my body/mind doesn't seem to want to do that. To lose the initial 24 pounds I followed the forks over knives diet (just from their website and internet searches, I didn't buy any…
  • I think getting 80g of Protein on any vegan diet while staying under 100g of carbs will be very hard. I have my macro's set to about 200g of carbs with a goal of around 80g of protein and I usually go over my carbs and rarely hit my protein target. Does your doctor want your total carbs to be under 100g or your nets carbs,…
  • I started my 30 days over yesterday, becuase I got lazy on Friday and Saturday. But eventually I will finish 30 straight days with thirty burpees. Yesterday at my gym we did them with half-turning tuck jumps instead of the regular jump ... those were brutal!
  • If you have a sugar problem you may want to look into the Candida Diet. If you google it you will find some blogs with good info and recipes. Not sure about carbs on a cadida diet but it can definitely fix a sugar problem.
  • I am a 4L evening student and I work full-time. I don't also have a family to manage though. As a 1L it can be crazy, especially as you're approaching your first set of finals. I know I was wreck and ready to quit law school about 20 times during my first semester. As for advice, about balance life, law school and fitness.…
  • Curried Pumpkin Soup - I used soy milk instead of the milk and omitted the cream and it came out delicious. Ingredients: 1/3 Cup chopped onion 1 tsp. minced garlic 1 tsp. curry powder 2 tbsp butter or margarine 1 cup pureed pumpkin (or about 1/2 can of pumpkin) 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/8 tsp. sugar 2 cups veggie broth (or can use…
  • If you bulk up your diet with lots of vegetables (especially greens) and fruit, you'll find it easier to cut back you calories a little bit more. You should probably also cut out added sugar in your diet because it will really it messes with you mind and metabolism when trying to diet making you think you're hungry when…
  • I'm 5'3" and I started at 164lbs. I ate at 1200 calories per day (though I went over on the weekends with alcohol) to lose the first 28 lbs and took boxing/kickboxing and Zumba classes. The I took the summer off and maintained at around 1600 class per day, now I'm working on losing the last 10 pounds and eating at 1450…
  • If you really want a baked white potato, have one. Just don't load it up with butter and sour cream, that's what makes them unhealthy. They are delicious with salsa! Don't forget to eat the skin, that's where you get the nutrients and fiber.
  • They make foam kneeling pads for gardeners, you can try that. I know my Father used to use that when he clean the bathtub and said it helped. They probably sell them at home depot.
  • You can go to the Forks Over Knives website for some whole food vegan recipes. Their whole diet is based on following a 'clean' vegan diet. I haven't actually tried the recipes although they all sound yummy, because I'm not much a recipe person, I normally buy whatever produce is on sale at the supermarket and make a kind…
  • It takes a lot a preparation of meals to stick with switching to a vegetarian diet at first. I would say if you have extra time on a specific day make a big batch of something and have leftovers as meals throughout the week. I usually go to the supermarket and buy whatever veggies are on sale, plus some veggie stock and…
  • Just a suggestion, but you may be working out too much. I've read some things that say if you do too much anaerobic cardio, it can actually impede your weight loss. I may have read a previous comment wrong, but it looked like you were taking three intense cardio classes each. Maybe try scaling that back and having a…
  • You can plug numbers into a BMI calculator to determine a healthy weight range for your height, it is probably around 130 and you're minimum is probably around 90. I also think that because BMI doesn't account for muscle mass you may want to set some measurement goals as well.
  • Darker green veggies (kale, broccoli, chard, collard greens) have a lot of calcium in them, you still have to eat a lot to get the full DV out of them though . You can also try adding a plant-based milk, I think unsweetened almond milk gives you 45% for 30 calories.
  • I usually make my own, but it if you're looking for jarred sauce I think Muir Glenn Organic Sauces are the best, when accounting for nutrition, price and taste They make a Cabernet Tomato sauce that very good and if you get it on sale it is super cheap.
  • I make something I call Goat Cheese Pasta which is really delicious: Saute a finely chopped onion and 3 - 8 cloves of garlic (depending on how garlicy you like your sauce) Add - I can of vegetable broth, I can of Diced tomatoes, and one cup of dry white wine and let the sauce reduce for about 30 minutes (or until the…
