  • I would love to join your challenge. I only need to lose five more pounds. I am at 122 (5'2") and want to get to 117 (or maybe 115). Either way those pounds are the hardest to lose. I am down eight since Jan. 1st and want all of it off by bathing suit season!
  • Yep that what it takes to maintain in my experience. Like you if I eat out too much, drink too much alcohol or miss out on my workouts I start to gain. My maintenance calorie intake before exercise is about 1400 (pretty low). Just the way it is. Good luck maintaining! It is worth it.
  • Congrats! Way to go!
  • Good to hear you are getting success FishyK! Two pounds a week is pretty good rate of loss. I am down total 7.2 pounds, started January 1st. I can feel a difference but I need 15 off in total. I went bathing suit shopping yesterday as I am going on a vacation where I must have suit. That convinced me I better stay the…
  • Great to see the new joiners! Welcome! I was happy yesterday when the scale moved. Down .8 from last recorded weight but you know how it fluctutates. This is the lowest reading yet at 122.8. I am aiming for 120 by St. Patty's Day. Still leaves a few pounds to go but by 120 I start to like my figure again! I went bathing…
  • Hi Joiedelise, I get these PC menu yogurt bars, caramel, mango and berry. They taste great and are 100 calories and it cures my sweet tooth each evening. Fruit is my second choice but it is not quite as good. Grapes are my allowable sweet that helps a lot. Hope that is a help!
  • Excellent I wanted to get in on a St. Patty's Day challenge. I did the Valentine's challenge starting January 1st. Lost 6.5 pounds and still have about the same amount or a bit more to go. So I think I can do 5 pounds by St. Patty's. Looking forward to losing with all of you!
  • Nice work!! Do you have more to go? I am going for 5 more by St. Patty's. Company would be great!
  • Hey Sweety, congrats! That is great 8 pounds! I am going for St. Patty's as my next goal of 5 pounds. Will still have a few pounds left and will set that goal next. Want to get to 115. At 123.5now! We can do this!
  • Excellent sweety!! WTG! I am also seeing success, down 6.5 pounds. Now to keep it up. Would like to at least double that loss by spring.
  • Ok not sure if anyone is still chatting on this thread? But I am really committed to this Valentine Day challenge. We are now 7 days away from the deadline! I hoped to lose 10 pounds but said I would be happy with 6 pounds as I know losing weight fast is unlikely in my case. I am thrilled to say I am down 6.5 pounds! So…
  • I put up a chart with poster paper for the month and log my progress daily so its visible. Also come on here to read about how others are doing. Helps keep me in the game. Like fishyK above I cannot lose the weight fast any more and its really hard to stay motivated for the time it takes!
  • No further progress on the scale but sticking to the program! Hoping by Feb 14th will have a drop. 5 pounds lost since Jan 1st.
  • Hi there, Also updating progress towards Valentine Day goal of 10 pounds. Start weight 130 Jan 1st Goal weight is 115 Current weight is 125 I have stuck to 1000 to 1200 calories per day. I exercised 6 days a week and burned anywhere from 250 to 500 calories in workouts on those days. I have abstained from alcohol all month…
  • Hi there, The loss you describe is excellent! You should not be losing faster than that. And 10 inches! Wow! I would be ecstatic. Enjoy the glory and keep doing what you are doing. Exercise really helps as well and boost your metabolism. Well done!
  • Hi folks, My handle is Share Bear (Sharon), I am 59 and I have 15 pounds to lose. I have been yo-yo-ing since losing my weight in 2007. Kept it off until about 2010 and now I am having difficulty. Getting older so metabolism slower I guess. I am active, work out usually 4x a week, now upping it to 6. Eating like a bird.…
  • Having done this way too many times......I think its really your personal weight gain and loss body pattern (does change with age). I find the last place it comes off to the degree I want is the abs. The ab workouts affect the muscle that is below the layer of fat that is the issue. All the advise here is great for getting…
  • They say it takes 30 days to form new habits. Day 17 and keeping my promises about food and exercise......4 pounds down....hard some days but so far fended off temptation...13 days to 30 days, see if it gets easier.
  • Day 16! Start Weight was 130 Goal weight is 120 by Valentines and 115 ultimately Current weight is 126! So I down 4 pounds in first 16 days! Happy with that. Hope it keeps up, I am usually so slow losing I get discouraged and quit. Doing a lot of exercise, trying for 6 days a week. Keeping calories down, banned alcohol as…
  • Hey I am doing the 30 day shred too. Its tough but I think it will be worth it!
  • Ok great I still qualify, my last year of my fifties! And I will be slim this year! Would be nice to have some friends in that age range. Send an invite but I will look for the group too in case it is listed.
  • Well done, huge accomplishment. Congrats!
  • Hi everyone and Piano Run, Glad you posed this question. I have been looking for a group that is in the plus 50 age group but I had not found one yet. I read through all of the posts here and I feel like I am finding a group of women much like myself. I just turned 59 and I am back to MFP trying to get 10 pounds (and maybe…
  • Hi everyone, This is good motivation! Since January 1st I have been an angel, eating within my calorie allotment, working out 5 to 6 times a week and I quit drinking all alcohol for the month. Started out at 130 pounds (5'2") and I weighed in today at 125.8! Yahoo, this is motivating to see that scale going down! I feel…
  • Good luck everyone! I am feeling encouraged as I was down 2 pounds 5 days into challenge! from 130 to 128 now. Dieting, exercising 6 days week and I quit drinking alcohol for the month. I think the wine deletion is the winner as the other two I was already pretty good at most of the time!
  • I am on day 3 of Juiceless January and the scale is looking good! Not posting it yet but I think I am down 3 pounds! Of course dieting too.
  • My recommendation is to do a cleanse in January. We call it Juiceless January (no alcohol)! Everyone has to lose a bit after the holiday season and there is too much alcohol during that season so I do juiceless every January and drop 5 pounds without too much effort. I am sure the liver likes the holiday too.
  • OK weighed in today.......ugh starting at 130. Last day of decadence, diet begins New Year's Day! 10 to start, probably need to lose 15 total.
  • Hi there, Welcome to the group. I am also in a healthy weight zone but with a BMI around 24 when I feel much better about 21 or 22. I need to take 10 pounds off again. I get it off and then it sneaks back on...........Christmas was a month long season of too much food and drink. I am looking forward to January and getting…
  • I am in! I am having a love hate relationship with the Christmas season.........at the high point of my weight going into season at 125. Have not weighed in to know how bad. But let's say I am over 125 and I should be 115. I am going to do juiceless January, lots of exercise and diet makeover......starting January 1st.…
