  • Morning all I am returning to mfp to try and get motivation to lose weight and get fit. Having just turned 57, I saw a photo taken of me at the birthday party - omg I'm fat AND short. Now the 'short' I can't do anything about but the 'fat' I can get rid of! So here I am. What I need is likeminded people to help me get my…
  • Salt. Full stop!
  • You're welcome.
  • try this site - it has load of different ones to choose from.... http://www.everydayhealth.com/food-fitness/exercise-activity/calories-burned-conditioning-exercises
  • It would make sense that shorter people would need lower calorie intake (I mean, I can't donate blood because I don't have 8 pints in me!!). What is the TDEE method?
  • I try to eat 1200 calories a day - I'm 4'10" and aged 50+ (!) and sometimes I find it difficult to achieve this amount, but strive to hit the mark. However, it makes me cross when people congratulate me for NOT eating enough calories! I just don't understand their logic. Someone please explain it to me.......
  • Stop weighing yourself - inches lost are much more indicative. My weight has been static for the last three weeks but still loosing inches.
  • Me - can you guess where I'm from!!
  • Can't advise you on how to change settings, sorry... but just wanted to say WELL DONE for taking charge of your future health and from the sounds of your exercise routine and eating habits, life is going to be very different for you.
  • I'm 4ft 9 and 3/4 inches...... (yes I am a grown-up!) and I think I'm going to start my own fansite for those waaaaayyyyyy under 5ft!
  • Since I have been weighing my food, it has also helped me when eating out because I have more realistic ideas of what a 'portion' should look like on the plate. Previously, what I had thought was a nice healthy portion of say cheese, was actually way too much! Give it a go, it may help.
  • I can understand your frustration and hope my experience helps..... Since December 2011 I was going to the gym 3/4 times a week and eating what I thought was a sensible amount of 'good' food. However, I lost NO weight at all. Three weeks ago I started using this site and also doing Slim in 6. My first light bulb moment was…
  • Wow, what a variety of breakfasts! Thank you everyone for taking the time to inspire me. Off to write the shopping list for my Saturday supermarket visit. Oh, and I have concluded from this that, I DO have a boring breakfast!
  • and..... don't forget to drink lots and lots of water (should also help flush out the system!!!)
  • I am no expert on all this but please don't give up. You HAVE lost 3lbs and albeit a small amount, it is still a pound a week (which as I understand it is the best amount to lose (ie 1lb a week). Relearning eating habits is a bugger and from what you say in your post, a difficult one for you personally. Do you belong to…
  • I can sympathise with you; over the past two years I have seen my weight creep up by 1 and a 1/2 stone even though I do not eat excessively. I don't like cakes and puddings so don't have them. I tried going to the gym 3/4 times a week - no change in weight. The only thing I can put in down to is..... AGE! I'm 55 and…
  • So good to see others are starting or doing Slimin6. Waiting for mine to arrive this week......
  • I bought it direct from Slimin6.co.uk - it is a collection of DVD with different exercise routines to use over a six week period, plus other goodies. Have spent a fortune on gym membership over the last six months and am soooooo bored with it, decided that I was more than ready for a change.
