  • Good afternoon, ladies - I'm sorry it's been so long, but I think I'm back on track. Are we still weighing in on Fridays?
  • Congratulations, bluenote!!! Apologies for being absent last week, I was on furlough, and took the opportunity to unplug from most things, finish a short story, pick out music to play at church at the end of July, and generally goof off. I will do a formal check in, read the rest of the thread since page 5 and start…
  • OK, crawling out of my cave. :) I'm on furlough this week, so it's time to spend at home working on home projects, eating in and sensibly, spending time with my guys. This morning, I walked to city hall to pay the water bill - good stuff. I'll weigh in tomorrow. Maite Zaitut!
  • Checking in, been thinking about you guys! Work has been difficult, so I've not had as much water as I should on any given day this week past Sunday. Work has been long (some days 6 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.), so my energy for exercise has been shot, too. I have a dry itchy awful fungal infection on the back of my neck, and while…
  • Checking in! It's a crazy day at work, and after work I'll be helping my husband with a photo shoot. Busy busy busy! Be good to yourselves, you can do it! Someone told me once that it's not whether you fall off the bus that counts, it's whether you climb back on.
  • lstpaul - I'm dodging the pest bullet with my tomatoes by growing them in milk-jugs upside down and hanging from a birdfeeder hanger off the deck. You might be able to grow rabbit-proof peas that way, yourself. And there's really nothing like being able to put fresh lettuce, tomatoes and peppers on the table for my guys.…
  • Momma2four, we're thinking about you! Coloradogirl, enjoy the campout! Diet45, it took me a while to figure out the in's and outs of the website, too - once it's configured, it's incredibly useful. Note: An hour of lawn mowing in a heat index of 101 is remarkably like a workout in a sauna - I drank a lot of water, and my…
  • Yesterday was an "off" day, more from circumstances than intent, but I've been dramatically under my calories all week, and I was very tired at the end of the work day. One day over the calories by less than 100 with no exercise isn't the worst thing that could happen. Back to it today; my husband is taking the stepson…
  • lstpaul - If massage therapists are licensed in your state, you might go see one who has training in Sports Medicine. S/He would be able to help with the pain management and by increasing the circulation and working the muscle fibers you may experience more relief than with just heat/cold therapy and ibuprophen alone. As a…
  • Happy Thursday! I'm pleased to report that I've not simply "managed" to exercise daily this week, but I've made a point to do so. Last night, my step-son and I went for that walk (so he know's the mile-route, and so I could get it done); good times. I know the shiney will wear off of being helpful and interested, etc, but…
  • Measure the water you put into the maranade. Before you throw out the maranade, measure it. Subtract the remainder from the original, divide the calories of the total by the fraction that's left on the chicken, add that to the calories of the grilled chicken meat. If there's an easier way, I don't know what it is.
  • On the other hand, any medical issues aside, most of us got here by *not* being mindful of what we ate and how we used our bodies. I look at it this way: why take the chance? I might learn how to successfully fuel and burn calories over the course of loosing the weight I want to loose. I might learn it so well that I can…
  • Way under on calories yesterday (not by intention, there's a lot of stress and excitement in our life right now, and sometimes my appetite just goes away), over on water, and I mowed the back yard. Today I'll walk at lunchtime and start the squats challenge. One of the golfballs I've added to my jar recently is my 17 yo…
  • Oooh, challenges! I've printed the booklets, I'll probably start with the pushups and squats, I'm working on reading through the material now. I mowed the front yard on Saturday morning, really thinking about getting out to do the back yard tonight after dinner, since it's light out so late, and it's a good social thing to…
  • Hey, ladies, Solandra here; I'm 38, newly a home owner, newly married, newly a step-mother, and an IT Help Desk monkey, mostly sitting at my desk for 9-11 hours a work day. That said, when possible, I get out to walk at lunch time, I just bought a Craftsman 18" Reel Mower (which I enjoy more than a "powered" mower), and…
  • Checking in for yesterday: Calories: over Water: over Exercise: 1.1 mile walk, hooray! The increased motility in my feet (walking) has inspired increased motility in my colon. That or I have a GI bug. I drank a fair amount of water through the night to stay hydrated and completely forgot to weigh before I came to work.…
  • Checking in for 3/3/10 Calories - under, for sure and for true! Water - Over, dear god I still have to pee! Exercise - Remember that walking route that I scouted last week? Yeah. That one - more than a mile, brisk walk for 21 minutes. Proud of - actually managing to accomplish what I intended to accomplish today. Love, Sol
  • Checking in for 3/1/10 Calories - right around the mark, perhaps a little over. Water - over Exercise - did some housework at my brother's house (my nephew is a month old now, since I'm not doing 2 a.m. diaper and feeding duty, the least I can do is load the dishwasher). Today started bad. It rained all night and was…
  • Checking in for the weekend: Saturday - Calories - right at the mark, but I didn't enter my yardwork marathon Water - Under Exercise - lots of yard work - I scrubbed our deck with soap and water and a long handled push broom. :) Sunday Calories - a little over, damn the icecream cake! Water - under Exercise - a little yard…

  • This week has been unpleasant on a few fronts, but I'm moving forward with grace and style - or a reasonable approximation thereof. That said, I'm back below 250 again, so yay! Checking in for yesterday: Water - over Calories - under Exercise - swept and mopped the floors, scrubbed the kitchen countertops Proud of - The…
  • At lunch today MDH and I scouted a new walking route for me; it's 1.2 miles, no crazy looking places that look scary for walking after dark or in the early morning hours. I'm going to try that one on for size tonight or in the morning.
  • Checking in for the weekend: Friday: Calories: over Water: Over Exercise: walking Saturday: Calories: over Water: over Exercise: more walking Sunday: Calories: right at it Water: Over Exercise: mental - we went to Home Depot and planned our raised bed garden I went in to my profile and did some thoughtful editing,…
  • Your best bet is to make an appointment with your primary care physician and go explain what's going on and ask them to test your blood sugar. They'll do a finger stick to determine your current blood sugar levels and take some blood for an A1C blood sugar test which will show what your sugar's been like over time. My…
  • Calories - under by 600 or so, still not feeling great Water - over Exercise - none Proud of - did our taxes last night, and things are going very well. I didn't remember to weigh this morning, rushed out the door and remembered when I was at work that I hadn't done so.
  • Checking in for 2/17/2010 Calories - under by half of them Water - over Exercise - none Proud of - getting stuff done for the most part at work. Yesterday was crazy and scary and had a mostly happy ending. I had moderate pain in my chest for the entire morning, and finally went to urgent care (picked up my beloved first)…
  • Lildebbie - another thumbs way up on both the promotion and the parenting - great work! I think I'll be trying the stuffed pepper soup this weekend or next week. My beloved told me the other day that we've been eating soup too much lately. He's been informed that unless he has an alternative to suggest, he may have to just…
  • Checking in for 2/16/10: Calories - Under Water - over Exercise - none Proud of - we negotiated hard on good replacements for the windows on our house last night. The total for the project was still way over what I had initially budgeted (which was unrealistic), but the financing went through with no problems. My credit…
