  • It would be really difficult to explain each exercise but if you google calf stretches you'll get a pretty good idea of what you should be doing. Your calf actually has 2 muscles and my problems lie mostly with the soleus which is the smaller muscle that sits below and under the big calf muscle (gastocnemius) so I spend a…
  • What trainers are you wearing? and how old are they? I know my trainers need replacing when I start getting pains in my calfs. I also have tight achilles and this often gives me pain in my calfs, I now spend a lot of time stretching my calf muscles pre and post all exercise on the advice of a physio. I know everyone is…
  • Hey I gained 2kg of muscle and dropped 6% fat when I did insanity last year :) I've just started again so hoping for great results again.
  • Hey I did Insanity last year and got great results! I tried to do other workouts but just didn't have the energy or desire to benifit from the extra exercise. I have just started the programme again (in week 2) and I do 30 mins of fasted cardio before work and insanity later in the day.....if this will produce different…
  • Hey all.....I'm on the 2nd week! I completed insanity this time last year with some cracking results......lost 5.2kg and more importantly 6.9% body fat gaining 2kg of muscle mass and I felt great! So having got back from holiday 2 weeks ago weighing more than I did pre insanity last year I decided to dig out the DVDs and…
  • Not really the answer you are looking for but I dont. I always go by the rule of thumb of eat when hungry, I tend to live on aroung 1400 - 1500 cals a day and I'm dropping weight at a rate of 1 pound a week but I don't have loads to lose and I train hard. What I'm trying to say is as long as what you are eating isn't junk…
  • People that don't suffer from this always insist to me that my shoe laces are too tight. I suffer everytime from this and it definitely is not my laces causing it. I'm afraid wiggling toes/picking your heel up does ease it a bit but if your like me the only thing that actually stops the numb feeling is stopping the…
  • Yep I'm in :) Do you want to re-take the test in say a months time to see if you can improve on results?
  • Body pump is more of a cardio workout. Cos you are working each muscle group for a 3-4 min track the weights are kept low to allow you to complete the workout. Introduce heavy weight strength training into your workout routine and you will definitely start to notice a difference.
  • The table hasn't converted across very well :( But basically I am well on track to beating my time :)
  • You can use door handles and things like that to create the resistance so you dont need to use your feet :)
  • You can get resistance bands for a relatively cheap price and you can adapt most exercices you would use dumbells etc in the gym, giving you a good upper body workout :)
  • This made me chuckle quite a lot :)
  • Love all resistance training and cross fit....and I am a keen runner. I hate the rower so I now make myself do 10 mins of rowing at the end of any workout in the gym....sadistic I know ;)
  • You may have just changed my dinner plans :)
  • I am on a rest day so for once I'm gonna try to stick to the 1200 cal goal, cos I always eat back my cals so live off about 1700 cals per day. But on rest days I always slightly go over my allowance so today will (hopefully) be different :)
  • Hey Jake I'm 3 weeks into my MFP discovery and I love it....feel free to add me :)

  • I have used thermogenic fat burners and had good results. However, the thing with supplements is that they are just that. Use them to supplement your current diet / fitness plan and don't expect them to be a 'wonder' pill. Thermogenics only work when you are exercising....and if you do use them be prepared for the side…
  • It's the only thing I can think of....maybe?! lol
  • Is this what you mean?? http://www.trainforstrength.com/ex-1.shtml
  • I dunno on that one....I may have been lucky that the shoes I bought fit the spin bikes in my gym :/ I used to find it was the arch of my foot that got really painful but I was wearing my usual running trainers which with the arch support etc in running shoes I don't think it helped. In my experience it was trial and error…
  • I suffered ALOT with this problem and in the end gave in and actually bought some cycling trainers that will clip onto the pedals of most spin bikes....you can pick up a pair for £30 and if you intend to be a regular attender at spin classes I think they are well worth the speciality purchase.
  • I aim for 450 a day but I'm a runner so often double/triple my goal :)
  • This is an interesting read and may answer some questions: http://www.missiontomuscle.com/percentage-of-body-fat-abs/
  • Oh and stick in some planks and side planks too :) You gotta love the plank :)
  • So I would start you off with something along the lines of this: 1 exercise per muscle, 12 Reps, 2 sets of each, 3 times per week. Bicep Curl Tricep kickback Shoulder press Chest press Bent over rows Squats Lunges Your weight should leave you struggling by the last couple of reps….this will take some trial and error. All…
  • I'm a big believer in ice baths....I used one for the 1st time after my first (and only so far) marathon and it worked a treat. Now I tend to only use them after a tough football match or hard run when I know I'm going to suffer from DOMS. But yeah they do work :)
  • Thank you all for your ideas, I will definitely be trying some of these in the future. Especially the Maple Glazed Salmon :)
  • When I first started running I couldn't run for 10 minutes untill I thought my lungs were gonna burst and my heart was gonna explode (bit of an exageration there)....so i signed up for a 10k event and everytime I went out for my run and it got hard I imagined myself completing the 10K and how proud I would feel. It totally…
