  • The ticker on your profile says you want to lose 8 lbs, so you should have set your goals to lose .5lbs per week. MFP gives you a goal that will allow you to lose without any exercise. When you do exercise and enter your workouts, MFP will tell you to eat those calories as well. Almost no one should be using the…
  • GNC doesn't pay people to post multiple threads a day here about their ****ty products. Herbalife does.
  • Is the problem with the Android version of the app, or is it really with a specific phone?

  • It really depends on what it is. Diet beverages don't bother me because I don't mind artificial sweeteners. Neither does skim milk, as nothing gets added to it to replace the fat. Many low-fat cheeses are simply terrible, so I opt for regular cheeses that have a strong flavor so I can be happy with a smaller portion. Many…
  • I would log it when you actually eat it. If you think of your log as a database, which it is, how is the data useful to you when you're creating errant entries? Today you realize that you put 300 of yesterday's calories onto today's numbers, but when you go back weeks or months later to look at patterns and figure out what…
  • Yes, you are doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing and focusing on completing the time. Yes, new runners get faster simply by running more. Another way to increase your speed (even though it won't feel like it!) is to find a route with hills to do once a week. You'll feel like you're trudging up them, and you…
  • I always buy the great big non-fat plain Greek Yogurt. First of all it's much less expensive than buying the individual serving sizes, and second it's much more versatile and can even stand in for sour cream. You can add whatever you want to plain Greek Yogurt to change up the taste. I've even added a little bit of the…
  • MFP wants your calorie deficit to remain the same whether or not you exercise. Exercise increases your calorie deficit, so MFP tells you to eat those calories back. Most people find that the exercise calorie estimates are very generous. If you do want to eat your exercise calories back as MFP recommends, I'd suggest eating…
  • I went through a few days and what jumps out at me is how many meals are eaten at restaurants/fast food places. While these establishments do give calorie counts, they are not accurate. In effect, you're guesstimating calories even though you are faithfully logging. Would it be possible to prepare a few more meals at home…
  • If you actually use a measuring spoon and not something out of your silverware drawer, yes, you are probably OK with teaspoons/tablespoons, etc. If you have a food scale that tares though, it's a lot easier to just build your meal right there on your plate and weigh items as you add them. Less clean-up too!
  • What a freaking predator--hopefully you've now blocked his number in your phone!
  • She'd feel full because she's only eating 850 calories a day.
  • Greek Yogurt is a great choice (especially as you have very little protein in your diary!) I also make breakfast sandwiches with 2 eggs, 1/8 ounce of cheese, a 100 calorie sandwich thin and 2 eggs.
  • It's generally recommended that women go no lower than 1200 calories a day, as it's very difficult to get proper nutrition on even 1200 calories per day. You also exercise a good bit, so 850 is far too low!
  • Why are you eating next to nothing? Why do you think you can't eat after 7:30PM? I'm frankly surprised you can make it through the day without passing out! You don't have to do this to yourself.
  • Your calories are quite low--around 850 on both days. Why are you eating so little?
  • I would avoid them as most of them are essentially laxatives. Unnecessary and potentially dangerous.
  • Not hypoglycemic, but I ignore the MFP sugar goal. It's set quite low and doesn't differentiate between naturally occurring sugars and added sugars.
  • There are studies that show some effects like that, but you'd float away before consuming enough green tea to see it. It's not going to hurt you and it may have some marginal benefit to weight loss. I wouldn't drink it in hopes of seeing those marginal benefits though.

  • This happens naturally over time anyway though. Not saying people should avoid cocoa butter or Bio-Oil if they like it, just questioning whether it has the effect that folks are attributing to it.
  • The impact is very small and it's not from caffeine. If you enjoy green tea, go ahead and drink it but don't expect it to have significant impact on your weight loss.

  • It really doesn't matter when you eat your calories. In general, I guess I don't eat between about 8PM and 5 or 6AM. I'm not trying to do that; I just don't tend to snack after dinner.
  • Your diary is set to private right now, so we can't see it. You need to go change the settings to public.
  • Here's a big list of high fiber foods: http://www.todaysdietitian.com/newarchives/063008p28.shtml Some of them are grains, but many aren't!
  • Do log everything, but not to shame yourself. Your log is DATA, nothing more or less. You need to log honestly so that you can look back and see what works for you and what doesn't. Keep it password protected if you have to, but always be honest in your log so you can use that data to make decisions in the future. I'm a…

  • Yes, you can lose without exercise. The cons are that you'll lose more muscle than was necessary and you'll still have the same general body shape, just a smaller version. You can slowly work your way up to physical activity, yes! Anything that is an increase in activity helps. Stand when you could have been sitting. Park…
