  • I just got my copy in the mail today! I just did a quick read through... and decided to switch things up starting monday! The thing that has frustrated me a whole lot is that I just have not had enough energy to complete the exercise that I have WANTED to do, while following the classic cycle. Sooooo... I am going to…
  • I have always had this issue... even when I was young. I remember being in 4th grade and being told that I could sit out of PE if I wanted too.... because of the red face. The only thing that helps me is cool water. I use to fill my sink up with cool water, and dunk my face several times until the redness started to go…
  • I can't wait to get the new book... but I'll need to wait until my hubby is no longer unemployeed. LOL. Priorities you know. ;-) This week I'm focusing on getting back into exercising on a routine, and am working on my eating habits. Sigh, It is so hard to break a bad habit cycle, and get back into what I KNOW works for…
  • Today is my first day easing into being back "on track" after being off the wagon for several weeks. I ate CTL style for my first 3 meals, and then had fun with the rest of the day. I'm excited to be getting back into it.
  • Non-fat plain greek yogurt is considered a protein on CTL. So, you should be fine. :) If you flavor it with fruit though, you should have it either for breakfast, or on a high carb day. If you have not already, check out Chris's smart foods guide here:…
  • Yeah, some of us are still here. I like to chat a lot, but I've also been on vacation for the last several weeks. I'm planning on being on track by next monday at the latest. -sarah
  • I burned over 1000 calories (HRM) at my friend's kids' track practice tonight. Warm-up was a jog around the track in under 3 min. Then I walked around the track for 3.5 miles over 1hr7min... this included walking up and down a short&steep hill 4 times. After being there 1.25hrs I decided to sprint around the track as far…
  • oh boy. Good luck on the groceries. Hopefully it get's sorted out soon. :) I promised my friend's son that I would do 10 pushups for every base he got to tomorrow at his baseball game. i'm praying he doesn't score too many runs. lol!! -s
  • I've had good luck with Saucony, new balance, and brooks.. all in wide. Naturally I'm sized as a 7.5WW, but when I buy athletic sneakers I'm an 8w. I have very few shoes because I refuse to buy them unless they fit correctly. I personally have two stores that I like to get my shoes... one is in Wisconsin (I live in…
  • I am very much on vacation right now. Took a short run two days in a row... this in no way was enough to really be a "great workout" but it was good enough to not feel guilty about the quantity or type of foods I've been eating. ;-) Yesterday was a pretty good food day. Every day is a "funday" right now... but I'm trying…
  • oh man! that sucks. I've been messing with the same 5 pounds for the last several weeks. Mostly because I'm not staying on plan 100%. Once you've tried the diet 100% as written, have you tried some of the tweaks that Chris recommends in the book?? I'd quote page numbers, but my book is in Oregon & I'm in Texas at the…
  • I'm on my way out for a run here in a minute... but the stickies here in this group would be a great place to start. Specifically here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/813951-so-you-want-to-start-choose-to-lose Good Luck on your journey! I will be on vacation for the next few weeks, but I will be checking my…
  • I did too. I'm hoping that it has an index. LOL. I'm looking forward to taking a look at it when it hits the store shelves. If it is better put together I will likely recommend it over CTL.
  • Mav, Do what you need to do for you! :) But, if you go all "low carb" you are still welcome here! I love your perspective on things. :) Same with you Chelle. :) I'm going to be "on plan" until April 16th.. and then after that I will likely be taking 3 weeks of since I'll be traveling with my children to Wisconsin and…
  • If you do the math, and eat what the book suggests you will average out to 1500 calories a day. LC 1200 HC 1500 funday 2400 Funday is an important day in the equation. If you want to keep your daily average as close to 1500 as possible, reduce your funday total by anything you go over on the other 6 days of the week. So,…
  • I will be updating my blog with a post about the race... but not until tomorrow. It is already 10pm and I'm tired. LOL. But I did upload some new pics to my profile!! Check it out.. I'm running!!
  • I hear you! In the last couple of weeks I've gotten away from eating 5x a day. When life is so busy it is hard. But... I'll be back at it this week. I need to be! I'd love to be below 200 before April 16... when I see my parents again for the first time since last June (when I started this journey to begin with).
  • If you have a cooler, another LC option that I love to take is sliced herb turkey (lunch meat) 2 oz, a string cheese & broccoli/carrots/celery. Sometimes I even make a veggie dip with greek yogurt and a black pepper dressing seasoning from Penzy's spices. HC favorite to go meals would be greek yogurt and fruit. :)
  • To defend the hand measuring system... Anyone can do it. You don't need any special equipment... and bigger people with bigger hands will eat more than smaller people with smaller hands. In my humble opinion, it makes sense to me. Thanks for doing the math LexLuther61! By using my "hand sizes" as a guide, (and then…
  • So, it's 2pm, and I've been up for a grand total of 3 hours. Well... not exactally, since I didnt' go to bed until after 1am, and woke up wide awake at 5:30... and didn't fall back to sleep until around 8am. So I got a decent amount of sleep.. just not at the right time. I've had my breakfast shake, and worked out in the…
  • Technically, they would not be allowed after breakfast on a low carb day, since they are a grain product. But, I like your thinking Rebecca! If the choice is a kashi bar vs something that is way more calories and not on plan, I would go with the kashi bar on a LC day. My emergency snack on a low carb day is: "Turkey Jerky"…
  • Chelle, I'm sorry to hear about your hand! Hope it feels better soon. Today my stress level is really high. I ended up having an emotional breakdown... but on the good side of things, all the crying was a good release. Ate total crap today.. now I'm just pushing water for the rest of the night, and will go out for at least…
  • Believe me.. I'm no stranger to depression. I'm struggling right now. But I'm trying to get my support system in place.
  • Glad to see that you found what works for you! Chris wants us to have a HC breakfast every morning because it helps "stoke the fire" to get you up and moving in the morning. So, if you want to try going back to a HC breakfast, perhaps try fruit instead of a bread product... and maybe add some veggies in an omlette or egg…
  • Oi. What a 24 hours! My daughter had been complaining of her lower belly hurting for the last 2 days. Well, last night she threw up, and my dh decided enough was enough, and we needed to get her seen. Well, to make a very long story short, they suspected a UTI or appendicitis... but were able to rule the latter out after…
  • Welcome Rebecca and Joan!!! Rebecca is my partner in crime! I love my Tweedle friend. She is so sweet... especially since she refuses to call me "tweedle dum" even though that was the one I chose for myself. LOL. Rebecca, you'll soon get the hang of it... the big thing to remember is lots of veggies, and watching your…
  • Welcome to the group circapaleo!! Okay... so it's Tuesday night here. I have been having a hard time eating "completely" on plan... but for the most part I'm making good choices, so I can't complain too much. Thankfully Cookie Season is officially over. I'm so glad too. My daughter sold over 400 boxes of cookies. Wow. this…
  • With CTL, you "should" have protein at every meal... including breakfast. I have mine in the form of a breakfast smoothie. :)
  • I haven't.. but if the nutritional value is similar to the cereal, I wouldn't see why it would hurt. :)
  • Hmmmm.. I'm wondering too. It should be protein and veggies at every meal (except breakfast... when you get get away with no veggies if you want to). :)
