  • Hey there! I first did keto in 2013 and lost ~70 pounds -- but then I got sick 2 years ago and gained it all back.....AND MORE. So! Now I'm re-committed to keto again and would love to have some fellow keto friends. Would love to make new friends with everyone on this thread! :)
  • Heylo all you lovely people! I'm so glad to see this post -- I could really use some new friends. =) Female, 5'5", and hit my highest weight at 260 (as of today at 255). I had used mfp really successfully in the past to lose 70 pounds, but I gained all that back AND MORE. I would love to befriend y'all and support!

  • Absolutely -- I've done it successfully in the past and I know I'll feel better once I get the carbs out of my system (and my kitchen and pantry!). I need to donate the carbs in my pantry to others who want them. =)

  • This is the best part of using the mfp recipe builder -- like MLHC1 said, I also use a food scale to weigh everything once, then enter it into mfp. That way, I can see what the macros are per serving, and this does help with adjusting recipes to make them more low-carb/keto-friendly. :)

  • Thanks! Happy to be here. =D
  • Hello! Sam here -- I just requested to join the group. =D I lost ~60 lbs. 4 years ago but gained it all back, and more (in 2017 I had a major medical illness and subsequently my husband divorced me)! My old pounds missed me and clearly brought some friends. I'm 34 years old and 5'5" LAST KNOWN WEIGHT (01/05/2018): 245.8…
  • Greetings everyone! Sam here -- trying to engage in self-care overall in 2018 and am glad to find this community. =D In summer 2013, I decided to change my life and started a keto/exercise lifestyle and lost ~60 pounds. Fast forward to 2017, and between a major medical illness and a divorce, I gained a LOT of weight…
  • Heylo everyone! Sam here -- I decided in 2018 to recommit to a healthier lifestyle (I definitely have 100 pounds to lose) am glad to find this community. =D In summer 2013, I decided to change my life and started a keto/exercise lifestyle and lost ~60 pounds. Fast forward to 2017, and between a major medical illness and a…
  • Greetings everyone! Sam here -- I definitely qualify as a "serial starter" and am glad to find this community. =D In summer 2013, I decided to change my life and started a keto/exercise lifestyle and lost ~60 pounds. Fast forward to 2017, and between a major medical illness and a divorce, I gained a LOT of weight (gained…
  • You. Me. Same page. I think of it like this: I think about food (and my weight) frequently. Maybe even quasi-constantly. So what are my options? I can: 1) get mad // frustrated // disappointed at or in myself for having these thoughts OR 2) acknowledge or observe that I am having these thoughts and not react emotionally or…
  • I agree with the above poster, as another compulsive overeater (who still has her moments, so I can relate to the OP). In fact, my suggestion is similar to that of many other posts -- DESTROY THE SECRECY. Seriously. Log everything. Everything. Post about it here on mfp and ask for help, strength, support, encouragement,…
  • Awesome squat challenge on blogilates -- the "Call Me Maybe" Mighty Squat Challenge! http://www.blogilates.com/blog/2012/04/16/call-me-maybe-mighty-squat-challenge/ THIS IS THE BEST FOR THE BOOTY.
  • I started today (inadvertently -- I just did 50 squats in my workout anyway!) SO I am so ready for this squat challenge. I'M IN! Feel free to add me if you'd like and we can provide moral support for each other's booties and thighs. Could I shake it up even further and substitute the "Call Me Maybe" Mighty Squat…
  • I'm 5'5" and currently 182 pounds. I was recently in a wedding and wore a US size 14 bridesmaid's dress. Most of my pants are size 12, dresses 14, and tops L/XL or 12/14. I used to be a distance swimmer and have very broad shoulders and a large flared ribcage (yay genetics!), which combined with my boobs make me large up…
  • TOOT AWAY! You're doing phenomenally -- and I especially love the fact that it's not just about losing weight for you, it's about getting healthy, and discovering the athletic side of you. And as a BONUS, you do look amazing! Congratulations on your approaching Onederland and being that much closer to your goal. =D
  • I wish I could be your cycling friend! There's a bike ride coming up in April that I want to do -- the East End Brewery Pedal Pale Ale keg ride, that raises money for local charities while pulling kegs behind bikes to a mystery destination for the first day of distribution -- but I need to get into biking shape first.…
  • So I took some time to read your success story post, and it brought tears to my eyes. You have been such an inspiration from Day 1, and I am constantly amazed at how far you push yourself and how much you WANT what you're working toward. I see that, and I'm certain that everyone else in your life sees it as well, and it is…
  • YES. I cannot stress too strongly the importance of a good and accurate digital kitchen scale. In my case, I have both a small digital kitchen scale AND a larger analog scale (a smaller version of those ones they USED to have in the produce sections of grocery stores). I use the digital scale for every single meal. Period.…
  • Seriously, you look amazing, Christine. There is such a noticeable difference -- is everyone you know complimenting you yet?!
  • Thank you for sharing your story. I needed a little motivation today, and your story is one to which I can really relate! =) You look amazing, and what's even more important, it's clear to me that you FEEL amazing. Congratulations on all of your successes!
  • Dang, I just left my 20s a couple months back... But if no one objects to a newly-30 year old, here I am! I started almost 3 months ago. Obligatory stats business: [SW: 227 | CW: 195 | GW: 150 | BLGW: 140 (yes, that stands for Bonus Level Goal Weight -- I will unlock sexiness!)] I'm hugely supportive, sarcastic,…
  • *fans herself* (Oh, and yeah, AWESOME work.)
  • I so appreciated reading your post. And the kindness you show to all of us mfp strangers -- we DO deserve to be loved, regardless of our current weight! =)
  • Nahhhh, just confident! And who doesn't like confident? ESPECIALLY CONFIDENT AWESOME PEOPLE?! I frequently don't suck, so I think I might make the cut. And I also used to be extraordinarily fit -- long distance swimmer and cyclist. That disappeared slowly. Now I'm back on track, also with the goal of completing a tri next…
  • YES. The only time I miss bread (really, unbelievably) is a) with fried eggs, to sop up the yolk, and b) with Dungeness crab. It deserves SF sourdough and red wine. And then I remember how much my stomach hurts, and how yucky I feel when I eat carbs. Other than bread, I miss the hell out of fruit and beer. Oh, beer. =(
  • But...I love veggies. =( Under 10g/day would be tough for me. I can definitely do under 20g/day, since I like my veggies. What's her body fat -- 8%?
  • You know, I haven't been aiming for a particular size, but this got me thinking. Before I gained weight, I was a very fit, very athletic size 8-10. I'd like to aim for that again -- I definitely put on muscle easily, so I don't think I'll ever be smaller than an 8 (wasn't in the past when I was fit). Mostly I just want to…
