  • Hmm...I always used to say Elijah Wood or Johnny Depp but after seeing a couple movies with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) I'm beginning to change my mind! Yeah, I think Thor wins this one. :O)
  • I'd ignore if I could, not in a negative way it's just not really a big deal to me. However, I usually end up celebrating it often throughout the month. My sister's b-day is a week before mine, so we do a combined birthday dinner with the family. My husband's parents are divorced so each of his parents see me separately…
  • In part because I have a vacation coming up in December and I want to feel comfortable in my bathing suit. Overall, I am tired of looking pregnant! lol My son is 3 1/2 now and I lost all the baby weight when I was breastfeeding, but got some bad habits going and ended up putting all the weight back on! Going in for an…
  • I got my son a toy kitchen to play with while I cooked... he does not use it like intended. The cupboard and oven make a great hiding spot for his action figures, but he never pretends to cook with it! He likes toy kitchens everywhere else he goes, but not at home. Like others are saying, if he won't play with don't waste…
  • Thanks! I didn't see the other thread about this topic (which is why I decided to post it...) When I do get to cook I try to make really healthy things, I just rarely get to since he cooks for an army and we end up with so many leftovers! Also, I work more than he does so he cooks more since he is home more. I guess I…
  • I'm in college, but I'm also married with a 3 yr old so I'm probably in a bit of a different situation than you. Do you live in a dorm? I thank that would be tough since I don't think most dorms have a kitchen. What seems to be giving you the most trouble sticking to your goals? Many colleges have great workout facilities,…
  • Smart thinking! I try to bring all my food from home, but occasionally it's not enough and I end up buying something in the deli. I always go look at my options, and check MFP before making my choice.
  • Pretty much anything that has the word "diet" in it! To lose weight and keep it off you need to change the way think about food and your body. Make it a lifestyle change and you'll lose weight, keep it off, and be healthier in the long run. Remember, you NEED food, you WANT the chocolate bar! :O)
  • If you are going to eat cereal go for something with substance! Honey Bunches of Oats, Special K, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, even Frosted Mini Wheat's are pretty good options...much better than Fruity Pebbles and other sugary "kids" cereals. When we were kids my parents always made us mix sugary cereals with healthier…
  • Like the others - anything that's within your calorie goals. Be careful with salads though, don't be fooled into thinking all salads are low fat and/or low calorie! If it has chicken, always go with roasted or baked instead of fried. Ask for the dressing on the side so you can control how much goes on. Try light or fat…
  • When a junk food craving hits, try to eat something healthy first and then if you still want the junk just have a small portion. My husband is not on board with the whole losing weight thing and gets so offended when I don't eat the junk he cooks, so I eat small helpings of it and try to balance the rest of the day with…
  • My contribution to family dinner will be: Carrot and/or sweet potato fries (hoping my 3 yr old will eat them) Hot cheesy spinach dip Chocolate peanut butter pie (cool whip recipe)
  • To be able to wear my pre-pregnancy clothes (my son is 3). Honestly I'm comfortable with my body the way I am, but I don't have the money to buy a whole new wardrobe and I'm sick of only having a couple of pairs of pants that fit!
  • I guess my answer is yes...I usually exercise because I ate too many calories through out the day and and went over my goal.
  • To me the meal plan was unrealistic because either it was not food I normally eat, or it wouldn't be stuff I could bring to work. So to me it was an epic fail. For me simply knowing how much to eat, logging what I eat and knowing I have people I am accountable to has made a world of difference. I'm already down 8 lbs.…
  • Opening the box of "skinny" clothes I have tucked away in my closet and being able to wear my old favorite clothes! I have my favorite pair of pants hanging up on my bedroom door as a daily reminder. :O)
  • can you exercise with your son? try a google search for "exercise with baby" and you should find a lot of options that you can do with your son even though he's not a baby anymore, you may need to modify some to accommodate his size. my boy is 3 and i still a few of these exercises with him. do you have a good stroller?…
  • you actually wash it in a washing machine everyday or did i misunderstand? i would say you probably don't have to do that, just rinse the chlorine out and let it air dry overnight. i don't swim on a daily basis or anything, but my suits last for years and that's how i care for them. the wen hair stuff is pretty fantastic.…
  • Our family usually does a potluck type thing, even if that's not how your dinners normally roll you could still bring a healthier option dish. Be it a desert, salad, or veggie tray, whatever. I read an article on yahoo that said it's better to indulge on a couple favorites than it is to "sample" everything. I'm not sure…
  • I am usually over on my fiber too, I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. Just make sure you're drinking plenty of water. According to www.fitday.com too much fiber can cause cramping, diarrhea, absorption, constipation, intestinal gas, and intestinal blockage. I'm not sure how much is "too much" but I think as long…
  • If you're like me it might help to have small goals to work up to, as well as the big goal. I have a target weight that I'd like to end at, but along the way I have goals set up with rewards for myself when I reach those goals. I also used to be thinner so I have my old favorite pair of pants hanging up in my room to…
  • Are you exercising? Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so as you slim down and replace with fat with muscle you won't see the scale change much. If you are losing inches then you are definitely making good progress! :O) It takes time for your body to adjust, be patient you'll lose the pounds in time!
  • Israel Kamakawiwo has a song I think it's Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World... I think it's beautiful but sad at the same time because it's the song my mom wants played at her funeral. Also, The Rose by Bette Midler.
  • My fave lunch lately has been a spinach leaf salad with a cut up hard boiled egg, which I use salsa for the dressing. I also eat a snack with it since that doesn't really fill me up. A low fat string cheese, special k cracker chips, or a 100 calorie greek yogurt. Depending on the snack it's 160-200 calories for the lunch.…
  • I'm trying to weigh in on a weekly basis and do measurements less often, maybe once a month? I haven't decided on that. The longer you go between the more difference you'll see. If you measure too often you may get discouraged since you won't see much change. When I was in high school I became obsessed with my weight and…
  • I prefer to poop in peace, which generally means with the door shut. I feel it is a courtesy to everyone around that they don't witness this. My husband wouldn't care if I left the door open, since that's what he does. Besides, I don't get much privacy between hubby and our 3 yr old son, so the bathroom is like a sanctuary…
  • I've used cooled drip coffee to make my Body By Vi shakes, very tasty. It stirs into warm drinks too, my friend adds the Body By Vi to her kids hot cocoa just to give them extra nutrition. So I bet it work in coffee, I think I'll try that in the morning!
  • I love eating chicken with salsa on it! So good, and salsa is super low calorie so it adds nutrients and flavor without adding a lot of calories.
  • What my family calls Eggy Toast (eggs in a basket) where you cut the center out of a piece of bread and fry an egg in the middle. If you can't picture it just google "eggs in a baskest." I love it because it actually it pretty filling and I cook it til the yokes not runny so I can eat it in the car if need be. :O)
  • It's Nacho Tuesday at work, they have a full nacho bar set up! I mix a little nacho cheddar with salsa to make my own salsa con queso and count a serving worth of tortilla chips... about 240 calories. :O)
