  • You are killing it! Great job! NSV = Non-scale victory. For instance, you start noticing muscle definition, your the same weight but fit into smaller clothes, finished your first 5K... any accomplishment that isn't directly related to the number on your scale.
  • I'd be delighted to join in. I'm just turned 60 last week. I'm needing to lose 40 lbs. I did it here once before and kept it off for 8 years. Sadly, I piled it back on over the last two years. I need to get it off. I don't feel as good and I certainly don't look as good. I need to get good and strong heading into the later…
  • I just hit my milestone 60th birthday! I lost nearly 40 lbs here several years ago and kept it off for 8 years. Sadly, I managed to pile it all back on over the last 2 years. I am in dire need of getting fit again. I'd be delighted to be your pal here if you'd like.
  • Hello Richard, I am returning to MFP after losing nearly 40 lbs here and keeping it off for 8 years. I managed to pile it all back on over the last two years. I am in horrible shape. I walk a lot and I ski, but I need to return to the gym as have to do weights to get results. I need pals to help me stay motivated as I…
  • I too lost a bunch of weight here previously. I kept it off for 8 years and gained it all back over the last 2 years. I need to get this weight off of me. It has caused my blood pressure to rise and I refuse to buy even larger clothes with a fun wardrobe waiting for me to return to it. I'd love to be a pal of yours for the…
  • Hi Jen, I just turned 60 last week. I lost almost 40 lbs here once before and kept it off for 8 years. I have gained it all back in the last two years. I need to get it back off so I can be into good shape going into my elder years. I'd be a pal of yours.
  • I get it. I'm just returning myself. I lost 36 lbs here and kept it off for 8 years. In the last 2 years I've climbed all the way back up. I'm so disappointed in myself. I need some new friends this go around as most the friends I had back then are long gone. I'd be delighted to pal up to get back on track again.
  • I just got a Mio Alpha! My husband bought me a FitBit for Christmas but it was too big, they never got any in stock in my size and then it was recalled. My daughter talked with the Mio folks at CES and thought it was more what I am looking for. I don't want a chest strap, period. Mio is supposed to be EKG accurate without…
  • 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2007 BMWx3 and my beloved 1970 Mustang convertible. Oh and not a car, but also a Vespa scooter.
  • Good for you for getting started! I can realate to your bmi goal. I am 5'5" and was 172 lbs when I started MFP. I have lost 22 lbs and as of 150 lbs I am officially no longer obese. I am what they call heavy normal or somewhat overweight on the charts now. I'll take it! I feel so much better, I used to have really bad hip…
  • This reminds me of the old bumper sticker "Mean People Suck." The thing you have to remember is that people that act like this way are just super insecure and can only make themselves feel better by cutting other's down. I know it is hard to ignore, but you have to find a way to know within yourself that these people mean…
  • I have the same problem. I can be outside on a 95 degree sunny day and sweat (or shall I say "glisten"?) and no smell. I can wake up in a menopausal night sweat, no smell, but when I hit the gym I can smell myself about 30 minutes into a work out. Work out sweat is just a different kind of stink and as others have said…
  • Tried to send an invite, but I couldn't make it work. I'm mustangmonie and I'd be pleased to be your friend if you send me an invite.
  • Anyone willing to look for a fartload of anything amuses me. Count me in. I'll send my friend request right now.
  • My husband and I joined Lifetime Fitness and their facilities are really nice, lots of classes, nice pools, hot tub steam rooms, sauna, towels provided etc., No contracts, perks thrown in for joining. I love, love going. I remember having nervous butterfly stomach the first week, but that was short lived. We have 4…
  • I have been doing this in earnest since the first of the year. I too have had my weight loss be a bit disappointing. I try to mix up what I am doing all the time and one of the things I do is a barbell strength class at my gym which is basically a ton of reps for all different parts of your body over an hours time. Love,…
  • My husband is out of town visiting his old university and a bunch of his fraternity brothers (circa 1970 something). I am too sore from my workout yesterday and today to shovel the 8" of heavy, wet, spring snow out of my driveway to go anywhere. I'd probably just end up at the grocery store anyway. I'll stay in and clean…
  • Are there any ethnic foods you like? You could try eating vegetable selections that are cooked with sauces or seasonings for Chinese, Mexican or Italian food. That way they would have flavors you already like to make the veggies taste like something enjoyable and familiar. Using them to make soups and pureeing the soup…
  • I thinks it is harder, way harder, but totally doable. I am 50 years old, soon to be 51. I am so tired of being overweight. I want to get to a healthy weight before I have any health issues. My thin girl clothes are lonely : ) I had a goal of 42lbs of weight to lose, I am down 3 so far. And I am enjoying the gym. Add me if…
  • Ohh, number 3 sounds good. My personal go to is 1 apple, 1/2-1 cucumber, a stalk of celery and some fresb ginger and mint.
  • I just got started 12/27 and I'd be happy to have another MFP. I'll send a friend request, add me if you'd like.
  • I would love to be a MFP for you. I too had a break, October 20-yesterday. I went to visit my father in Minnesota for his 90th birthday and in a weird turn of events, he passed away on his 90th birthday. I was there to arrange the funeral, then back home where I was in the throws (and now 2 weeks behind) in remodeling 2…
  • Holy Smokes! What a difference, what an inspiration! Between the weight loss and the muscle gain you must feel jet propelled!
  • I don't see the new photo you say is done and I agree, it would be much easier if the photos were from a similar distance. That said, even with the close up I see a difference especially around the navel area. I also agree with the previous post that there is a difference in your shoulders. Nice work!
  • Quinoa is really inexpensive in bulk bins. I like to make some and add it to salads of healthier greens such as kale or arugula, toss in a few dried cranberries (can buy small amount in the bulk bins) and a few toasted nuts. Makes a healthy, high nutrient salad with some bulk. Lentils are also very inexpensive by the bag…
  • Great question. I just started 2 days ago and I will be in the same boat.
  • Good for you. Sure you lost a lot of weight and have gained some nice muscle, but I might point out that you also lost about 15 years. You look so much younger!
  • I am 45 + 5. I just found this site yesterday. I am so motivated, tired of being a blob, can't wait to feel better. I will be logging my food and exercise. Please add me to your friend pool:flowerforyou:
