i am one of those that say eat what you want in moderation. otherwise, the craving will get out of hand.

too embarrassed to tell you my current weight. lets just say since i am short, i look like the michilen tire man. my goal weight is between 135-140 (wanting 135, if i can maintain it)

i am learning to be a mindful flexitarian. meaning, i pay attention to what i am eating, when and why. and i am loosely following the flexitarian eating plan (mostly vegetarian with occassional beef and such).
-
took a quick glance at the "approved" food list. aside from being restrictive, the foods they call for "organic and gain fed" beef IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for long term. no thanks. sticking with calories in vs calories out. it's called mindful eating.
-
IMHO, ANY "plan" that restricts a certain food group or any food in general is a HORRIBLE idea. i am with others that say calories in vs calories out is the way to go. i will certainly eat less of the foods that cause me problems, but i can't live my life doing without any certain foods. it's a recipe for disaster.

also, if you have a desk that you can lock, why don't you have some healthier versions of the vending snacks you like? that way, you have the banana as a back up, but you have portion controlled sweets/salty/crunchy/etc available whenever you want it. that's what i do.

personally, i prefer almond milk to cow's because i am not a cow. i am not an almond either, but first and foremost i am not a bovine. therefore, i am not going to drink milk that is intended for a baby bovine.

YUP. sort of has a point, but it's really NONE OF HER F'N business.

He doesn't deserve you. Make yourself healthy and happy and the right one will accept you and love you for who you are, not what you look like.

what i highlighted. many, if not most, of us here on MFP are not medical professionals. and we don't know your daughter or her medical history. therefore, you or your daughter need to contact a medical person in your local area, or her doctor can recommend someone, to give her more information. MFP isn't a substitute for…

i don't "count calories" per se. I am a mindful eater. that being said, i still track my food and activity/exercise and stay within my calorie budget. I do that more to see what kinds of foods satisfy me for the longest and how much of those foods i can eat before i feel uncomfortable. I am too lazy to actually count…

THIS ^ looks can change, personality can't. if he loved you then, he should love you now. if he is concerned about your weight, then he needs to support your efforts, not hurt you. IMHO, based on the brief info you gave regarding your husband, he sounds like a jerk.

i can usually find a fruit or vegetable that will satisfy most of my junk food cravings. but if i can't find a healthy alternative, then i give in to the junk and eat just enough to kill the craving and no more. rarely do i bring the junk into my home, but work is still a HUGE problem for me (as far as the junk). and i…

4'11", currently 173 lbs. want to get down to 135-140 since getting to 119 is utterly impossible unless i just stop eating and am constantly exercising. the biggest issue i have with my body currently (boobs are okay), is my belly. I have looked "pregnant" my whole adult life and I just don't want to anymore. I don't want…

Since i had JUST started making the effort to walk this past week, i can't really say if being more active has helped reduce my stress or cravings. I will be moving to another desk in my row, so that could reduce some stress. I have cleaned out all the c*** that i don't need or use in my desk, so i am planning on just…

I am not a professional, but on the rare occasion i have that thinking about drinking, it's a HUGE RED FLAG that something is not right in my life and I need to figure out what it is and fix it. It's also an indication to me that drinking alcohol is the LAST thing i need to be doing. i don't know you, but i am VERY…

IMHO, OP your attitude about weight loss rate needs to be SERIOUSLY adjusted. If you want to lose in a healthy way and keep it off permanently, then slow and steady is the best way.
-
IMHO, there is no "picking a goal weight". either your doctor tells you what you should weigh, or your body tells you when it refuses to lose any more.
-
i try one of 3 things: walk with my dog, talk with my husband, or talk with someone on one of the websites i am a member of.
-
usually anger or sadness. i am working on changing that to taking a walk with my dog Ziggy, or talking with my husband, or talking to someone on FB.
-
IMHO, "skinny" is too interpretable. so, i use the phrase "nothing tastes as good as healthy living feels". That's more definite.
-
for me, being mindful is that i can enjoy whatever i like, but when my body says it's had enough, that's my cue to stop eating or drinking.
-
you should come over and do this for me. except i have a dog. LMAO
-
I am learning mindful, or intuitive, eating. it has helped me start to learn to listen to my body. it's not easy, but it makes the most sense to me. It's always going to be CI vs CO for me, but at least i can get to the point where i am listening to my body instead of the scale or #s on packages

some of my reasons are similar/same as others. most important to me 1. i want to be able to walk and "hike" with my husband, whether it be 2 miles or 6. 2. i want my mother's tapes to stop in my head and when she stands in front of me 3. i don't want or need to be the trophy wife, but i want my husband to be proud of me…

too far away for me.

Cobehale, can you do any exercises while at your computer at work? Do you have a headset that is wireless and allows you to move around?
-
j75j75, my Ziggy isn't a runner. my other dog (RIP) Kirby WAS a runner. I am not a runner. But i can certainly take Ziggy on a good walk. She loves that.
-
well, my mother's negative tapes from my childhood still pop up somewhat regularly and they still have an effect on me and my self-esteem. but i am able to counter it most of the time with "i am making changes i can live with."

i LOVE all these suggestions. I will have to think about using these. I have a sit down desk job, so having pre-portioned food with me will help a lot, with not spending $ mostly. :p
