  • Thanks everyone for your feedback. I'll give it a go anyways (since let's face it, I am considering it enough to pay the $7 for the book) and i'll get back to you with how it's doing.
  • I'm on board with the other posters. He's nuts, run fast and far. Sometimes, especially if we put ourselves out there when we are already insecure, it feels like trouble follows us like a moth to the flame. Then when they leave because of something we have no control over (i.e. their own emotional baggage) we are left…
  • This was during 4.5 months of Ideal Protein, alternative products. I loved the weight loss, but never worked out except for riding my motorcycle. I've regained every last bit of weight, back up to 190.0 and now I'm trying to lose much slower using MFP with 1400 cal/day, working out 3 days/week and learning to love myself.
  • Holy cow you are amazing!!!! Let me guess, lots of practical eating, exercise and patience? :D You are truly inspiring!
  • Thank you for your replies. I read the original post which was mostly people just saying "it's a fad diet don't do it", and "if there are clinical trials, show me". But I have a hard time seeing what defines it as a fad diet, and that no one has said they've even tried it. Someone out there has tried every diet on the face…
  • Thanks again all for your feedback. To those who are being all "don't weigh every day", trust me I know that weight fluctuates every day. I've dieted and lost weight in the past using this same weighing technique, weigh in one day a week with body measurements etc. and the rest of the week if I think I have a day of being…
  • Lisa: Thanks so much for your advice! I was so proud when DH and I got down to no more eating out after work at night, now I cook every night, even if it kills me! We belong to a gym, and typically we go 3-5 days/week. I do the Arc Trainer for my cardio (Cybex Arc Trainer) and alternate the exercises it does, then also do…
  • Thanks for the logic and I'll say "toughish" love, not too harsh, but just enough to get us out of our doldrums!
  • Haha good point ! Alright Mary, I'll try almond milk when I get back into town on Sunday. I have to go grocery shopping anyways at least to get me through to PayDay (pay day is next Tuesday) so I'll grab a half gallon and see how it goes ;) Faye: Thanks for the chuckle! You're totally right though. I had dropped to 160.2…
  • Thanks so much ;) I'll try my cereal (plain raisin bran sound ok?) for a couple days, what does almond milk taste like? Is it similar to like, soy milk in taste? coconut milk etc? I've never tried any of them for fear of taste, I'm such a wimp! OMG I just looked at my shake, 360mg of sodium *face palm* thanks for…
  • Thanks everyone, and yes, it's true that we fluctuate daily, and I'm OK with that. I didn't say that "I weighed 189.0 yesterday, and now I"m 190.2 so I"m mad". I said "I weighed 189.4 last Thursday, and this Thursday I'm 190.2 so I'm confused" basically. Thanks so much for the encouragement. I've been weaning myself off of…
  • I completely understand your frustrations! My personal one is if I have a week without much, or any change, I get mad, and then I get "fat", as in, I eat whatever I want for the next 2-3 days, not counting anything as everything is available to me and I'm fed up. Then comes the guilt, oh joy...the guilt! I spend the next 4…
  • I'm on board with as your cup size decreases, the band size increases, I believe the term is "sister size". I'm a 34D, or a 36C , although most of the time the C fits me better.
  • Thank you all for the support. Right now the clean eating isn't happening. I totally know it's my own fault, but unfortunately I have a slightly controlling husband who gives me grief if I leave the house without him and hates going to the store. We also work together and he hates it when I don't go to lunch with him, he…
  • found it! http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50139028n CBS article http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHhCP5ad-zM the actual ad
  • Yeah, but look at big tobacco, totally the same story with them as well. In it to make a buck. Is it right? No, but it's there. On another note, I think it was Coca-Cola that actually posted something about them being aware that drinking soda can make you fat...kind of made a big splash about it. I'll look for the YouTube…
  • Karen: Welcome to MFP! I ride a Suzuki SV650S (sportsbike with a V-twin) and my husband has a HD V-Rod that we rebuilt from the ground up last year. I'm a techy and train for Microsoft PowerPoint, he's a programmer, we make it work, even though I'm an Apple and he's a PC :o
  • Friend request sent!
  • I squart (squat+fart=squart) frequently, and OMG it's embarassing! It's not as bad if I don't do a warm-up walk before hand, that seems to be the secret, but to stay safe, I just suffer through it. Also I managed to drop a measly 8 lb dumbbell behind me when I was doing triceps extensions and it rolled half way across the…
  • Haha, I was wondering about this last week so I blogged about it: http://think-slimmer.com/2013/02/18/whats-the-deal-with-green-tea/ Basically it can increase your metabolism a maximum of about 4%, or 100 calories in a day (there about) and helps a little bit to prevent fat from "sticking" instead of just flushing out. I…
  • This is just a thought, and although it won't fix the cravings, maybe every time before you get into your car, write down or audio record on your phone or something "Right now I am feeling ___________ because ___________" and keep track of those two entries. If you notice you're seeing "bored", "stressed", "lonely", etc.…
  • Thanks so much for posting this! Yesterday (or maybe Saturday?) I was having a "The scale doesn't move, this is stupid, I quit" moment. Then I had a kick in the face reminding me that 2 months is minimal compared to life in general, and I have other things that have improved with my added gym time. My heart is healthier…
  • What is IIFYM? Sorry I'm not used to these acronyms :) And copy that on the less processed foods. I have done Ideal Protein and had fabulous success, then promptly regained almost all the weight after I got off the diet, I didn't really learn to eat healthier, I just was uber controlling about the food I consumed and…
  • Wow, my brain almost exploded from figuring out how to open my diary! It's open now so ya'll can see what I eat, although it's not complete, I'm trying to get better about logging daily.
  • Hey, cheer up, you're within 6lbs of goal, that's huge! So, here's an article from WebMD about your 'happy weight', which basically breaks down why we plateau to a certain degree, and how that all works out: http://www.webmd.com/diet/guide/ideal-weight-or-happy-weight? It's not just calories in - calories out = <0 that you…
  • See if they will fax a copy of it to you or ask them if they have a digital version, you might be surprised. Once you have the nutritional info, scan it (or save it) to a PDF and either put it online or email it to yourself and download it to your smartphone. All my "regulars" are on my blog, which I manage from my phone…
  • Personally I think it depends on why you're hungry. If you're watching TV or something sedentary and suddenly feel like you have to eat NOW, it might be either thirst or a mental hangup about boredom=food. In the past I've drank a cup of water (8 oz) and waited 10 minutes. If I was still hungry afterwards that told me I…
  • Thanks everyone! I've moved over from the 3fatchicks.com forums, where I really had some great friends, but as I'm no longer doing Ideal Protein I didn't want to stay on the board and possibly mislead the newbies there. My sister-in-law said myfitnesspal helped her lose and I'm taking a page from her book. I'd like to get…
