February, 2013: Is this group still going? I would like some friends my age--- 67. I just joined MFP in Dec, and I am enjoying learning the site, and getting more exercise. We (DH & self) are trying a low-carb diet. He has been very good considering he LOVES bread. He doesn't use MFP, but it has been helpful to me. I had…

Thanks for jumping in. I'll check that out also. :)

Lots of good advice here. I was just going to write a piece about patience.... I remember when I was getting married: I ate little and exercised every evening on this antiquated stationary bike that jerked my upper body back and forth as I pedaled. LOL!! Good memories. Best wishes!!

You guys are so funny! Thanks for the laugh.

LooneyLove, I suspect it is muscle weight. I'm sure you are not trying to lose weight now, just active and staying healthy, right? But you are getting stronger. A happy conumdrum. :flowerforyou: Good work!

So maybe next time, since you DO like cauliflower, just steam and add cheddar cheese to melt. Sounds good to me. Baking it to put a crust on top might help too. Everyone contributing above had some really good ideas.

You are doing great! I'm very impressed, and of course it SHOWS in your photos.

I wish I could click "like" to those responses you got! There are so many good pointers left here. I know you will be able to get past this rut. Concentrate on your "wellness". That is really what matters. :flowerforyou:

VERY good. I'm about a inch shorter and about 30 years older. Started at the same weight, but aiming for 140. Good luck and best wishes.

Giggle. My husband and I are still at the bacon dipped in mayonnaise stage! We are feeling full and learning not to eat bread. That is a biggie. We grew up on sandwiches. But we are getting older, retired. I will get the book and read it! Thanks for all the notes. I still think this is the eating plan for us.

My husband and I started Atkins before the holidays. although we ate some carbs (very little, actually) during the holidays, I did not gain weight. We are back on our full time schedule now, and walking 30-45 minutes a day, either outside or inside when it is snowing. I'm looking for tips also.

Tapering off will help. I agree with the person who said one cup of coffee the way you like it the rest black. The caffeine will keep you from getting a migraine, and you will lose those extra pounds of sugar and milk.

I agree with most of the others, that using the tool honestly will enhance your experience. I haven't been doing this long, but because I am tracking my food I am doing a better job of actually measuring. I have found that I fall below the 1200 cals I'm supposed to eat.. and I got a warning that eating too little will put…

Ah! at last! some one my age! Thank you for posting your story. It is already very close to mine, but I am at the beginning so have not lost the weight. I can't imagine walking as much as you do, but I may have to get there. Meanwhile, I'll keep looking at your posts. Thank you again!

I appreciate all the stories from the 40 and 50 year olds. I would like to hear from some 60 somethings. Those of you in your 40s and 50s: Bravo! I didn't take my mother's advice seriously. She kept telling me that it is harder to lose as you get older. She was right. I'm now in my mid 60's and trying to get a grip on my…

Hi! I'm over 65 and just started looking at this web-site. I have two friends in their 40s who are working with this site also. But I'm looking for "how it works" at my age. A week (and two days) ago my husband and I started "doing Atkins". We have loved it because it is mostly the food we gave up in order to get as…
