Finding the balance between using mfp as a weight maintenance tool versus a life controlling obsession has been a challenge for me too. I've been trying to maintain for a few months now with variable success. I had a few goals: 1. Stop weighing and measuring everything I eat - practice estimating until I get my portion…

Forgot to mention I had a fixation on a bacon cheeseburger and fries for weeks! Eventually I decided to go get it! But I left off the bacon, used American cheese (lowest cals), and had only half the fries. I also did a bigger workout that day. It was great and I remained within my goal for the day. The fixation is gone now…

^^^^^^ Great idea! Alternatively, I have a local that makes shrimp with vegetables without sautéing the shrimp in oil (they are steamed) and the white garlic sauce is served on the side. It's yummy! I order brown rice and try to limit to less than half a cup.

You don't have to tell me twice! Checking it out now....

Tempting....

So, you're a fan of peanut butter? Me too.

I just want to add my encouragement. You deserve to be able to work out wherever you want! I joined earlier this year and I see all sorts of people there. We are all there with one common bond, to be healthier in some way. It's not a fashion parade, or a beauty contest. A few suggestions: - Try going the first few times…

Thanks! I couldn't help but notice your sign on name - must be an Aussie! Me too, although I now live in the states. Cheers!

And she went with.......drumroll.....an apple and peanut butter! Yum! Although I was seriously sidelined by the idea of Ben and Jerry's or wine.

Terriann7, I just want to encourage you to keep going and the advice of the previous poster sounds great. I only ran for the first time when I was 38. I'm now 46 and run routinely and LOVE it. I started slow. I'd walk for a while, then say to myself, "lets see if I can run to the next corner intersection". Then the next…

Rainbowbow, you are evil! But I'd go pistachio pistachio!

I might be misunderstanding the website but I thought if you included your exercise in the TDEE, then you shouldn't also eat their value back. It's like double counting. If I calculated my TDEE based on sedentary lifestyle, then I should definitely eat the exercise calories back. Thanks for the tasty suggestions!

Thanks for the feedback all

Off to go get something to eat lol

I've worn my HRM during a 60 minute Zumba class and burn around 500 to 550 calories per class. Heart rate usually stays in the 150 - 160 range, except when I get lost in the moves!

* An hour on the Wii Fit - doing advanced step and advanced boxing ~ 400 calories (using HRM) * Zumba at the gym - around 480 calories (using HRM) * jogging outside. All of these invigorate me and leave me smiling like a crazy woman!

Thanks! I'll keep going and be more patient. I really appreciate the ideas and reinforcement. Love this community!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm a little nervous at increasing my calories, but I can give it a shot huh?

Thanks! I used to follow a higher protein diet, but notice here that my protein is drifting down yet still within the Myfitnesspal pal suggestion (in fact over the suggested amount). I'm trying to lose 1 pound a week.

I'm desk bound too! It's tough. I have to leave for work so early in the morning, I've begun taking a Quaker Oats single serve oatmeal with me (200 calories) and a banana (100 or so calories) to get breakfast in. I am lucky that I can also go to our cafeteria and get an egg white vegetable omelette when I need the protein.…

We are in the same boat I think. I just posted a similar question. When I look at your food diary, the only thing I notice is that you don't eat breakfast. I wonder what would happen if you tried eating breakfast for a week or two, and reduced some of the snacking calories to make up for it? It might be worth a try?

I notice that you eat out a lot. One suggestion is to consider replacing one of the meals where you eat out (lunch or dinner) with some prepared at home from fresh ingredients. It's much easier to control calories that way and you'll enjoy learning how to prepare new things. I'm not sure if that's possible with your…

I achieved my goal weight with weight watchers and lost over 40 pounds around 7 years ago, although I'm since up around 15 pounds from my goal. I am grateful to weight watchers for introducing me to exercise, I discovered my love of jogging and how fitness is attainable. I also learned through points the impact of…

Getting married in June 2013. I want to lose a little weight and enjoy this great event without obsessing about weight or looks. So I decided the get healthier now rather than obsess closer to the date. My dress fitting is in late April. Good luck everyone!

I've developed some weird habits from various diets over the years. Fat limiting diets, carb limiting diets, high protein diets etc. etc. it's getting so that I've lost the basic understanding of the concept of "calories in less than calories out" to lose weight. So it's refreshing to use this site and count calories.…
