Start by going back to basics:

    Lean protein
    Lots of veg
    Fruit
    Good fats.

I see a lot of processed food in your diary for the last two days. Try and ween yourself off food found in a cupboard box, and move into the fresh section of your grocers.

    Hope you find your way.

eat foods that are filling and good for you like proteins, oatmeal, have a large salad with your protein on top and a light dressing, Try low cal fiber bars. I love the fiber one bars and fiber one cereals. Drink a glass of water with your meals.

Forgot to add fresh fruit. I eat sometimes 2 to 3 apples a day. Fruits are high in fiber and filling.

I notice that you eat out a lot. One suggestion is to consider replacing one of the meals where you eat out (lunch or dinner) with some prepared at home from fresh ingredients. It's much easier to control calories that way and you'll enjoy learning how to prepare new things. I'm not sure if that's possible with your lifestyle but I wanted to offer it as a suggestion.

I'm confused... how do you cut back on food? Um, isn't that just portion control? No real trick to it, it's all just self control.

i found my biggest problem was not eating breakfast. it is def the most important meal of the day.
also try drinking water when you think your hungry. sometime our bodies will tell us we're hungry when all we want is a sip of water really. another little trick i use is i use a side plate for my meals in stead of a dining plate. it tricks your mind into thinking you've eaten more. hope any of this helps. new to loosing weight so still finding my way too. xxxx:smile: xxxx
  • It is all about decisions. Do you want to self medicate with foods that offer no benefits other than comfort or do you want to start getting healthy and eat wisely? You have the power to make these decisions and take control of your body and health. The fact that you are on myfitnesspal is a great start!

You can make much better choices when you do get fast food. At Arby's, for instance, a Roast Beef Jr. with Arby's sauce has just 230 calories--add curly fries from the Value Menu, and you're at 470 calories. Upgrading to a Roast Beef classic will still put you at 620, which is well under some of your Arby's meals lately. KFC: a grilled breast and wing with sides of mashed potatoes & gravy and green beans is a filling meal for 445 calories (that's without the biscuit--eat that and it goes up to 625, which still isn't too terrible).

There's a series of books called "Eat This, Not That" that can really open your eyes about the huge difference in the choices you can make. Check your bookstore or library and see if you can get a hold of them.

For me, it also makes a huge difference if I go to the restaurant's website, look at their nutrition, and plan my meal in advance. Sometimes I even write it down and take the paper with me--makes it easier to stick to it when I look up above the counter and there's the picture of the Quadruple Heart Attack Burger With Double Extra Cheese.

I was on track eating healthy drank tons of water lost lots of weight. but then i feel into a depression which caused me to emotionally eat. but i have been eating take out lately. so, i will cut that out of my diet as of today. no more eating fast food. Portion control, i do do that. however when i get emotionall i tend to eat alot which causes portion control to go right out the window. and thats not even at meal times. thats at odd hours, mostly at night.

By THE WAY EVERYONE THANKS FOR YOUR Advice and tips. I am serious about getting back on track but it has been a challenge for me.

I used to eat out of emotion all the time. Really though, self-control. Depression doesn't make you eat, it just makes you WANT to eat. There's really no secret to it.
