MFP asks you to put it under dancing general, but it grossly underestimates the calorie burn. My suggestion will be to wear a HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) and then add your own exercise. There is a calculator on this website that's pretty good. http://caloriesburnedhq.com/zumba-calories-burned/0

Thanks for this! it definitely adds more calories burned than just putting it under "dancing, general"0 -

You are welcome. I ran into the same issue myself and didn't realize that I wasn't eating enough to sustain any gains I may have had without knowing the real burn. When I did wear a HRM, I burned about 868 calories in one 60 minute session.0 -
Awesome! I tell my husband he should come to Zumba with me and he says No Way!!0

I've worn my HRM during a 60 minute Zumba class and burn around 500 to 550 calories per class. Heart rate usually stays in the 150 - 160 range, except when I get lost in the moves!0

I put it under aerobics!0

I wear a Polar HRM and burn about 400 calories in a 1 hour class. Heart rate stays around 160.0

I don't have my HRM on this trip, so I compare how hard I'm working to how hard I would work in another activity that MFP does calories for and estimate that way. For example, if I run a 10 minute mile, I can calculate MFP calories for that. So I compare how hard I'm working in Zumba that day to how hard I'd be running. Some days I feel Zumba is MUCH tougher than my weekly slow long run.0
