  • Runner in the Merced area.
  • My next race is the Giant Race in San Francisco. I have also teamed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through their Team in Training program to run my first marathon on October 20th.
  • That's awesome. I know what you mean about the fees adding up. I will probably do some local runs around Merced. February has the Honey Bun Run, which has a 10k and a 5k. The details haven't been worked out yet, but possibly in May will be Storm the Castle, again 10k and 5k. Storm the Castle ran through Castle Air Museum…
  • I am currently registered for the Davis Stampede, the Lucky Run and the Davis Moo-nlight Run. All three are managed by A Change of Pace Foundation and are in Davis, California. Looking to add the California Classic in Fresno, and the half in Big Sur. More to come.
  • Where on the East Coast are you from? I spent a little over a year in Washington, DC.
  • Realized I did not say where I'm from. I'm from the Merced area.
  • Running my 9th Half Marathon since Feb. 2011 in 11 days. The Walnut Creek International Half Marathon completes the Northern California Half Marathon Series for me. Just ran for the first time in months. I have some catching up to do...and fast.
  • I'm in the 209, near Merced.
  • Awesome! I use races to keep me motivated to run. I absolutely love crossing the finish line. It's a great feeling.
  • If I remember correctly, they were suggesting sending this as a substitute to give some variety to school lunches. I'll be honest, I tend to take PB&J to work each night. A joke around the warehouse is, "Teddy, what did you bring for lunch?" Everyone knows it's PB&J. After a few months of nothing but PB&J a little variety…
  • Flavored cream cheese.
  • Yes, they are highly acidic. I would not recommend eating one like that every day.

  • Never cared for it in my water unless there was lots of it along with sugar, but then that'd be lemonade. A twist of lemon with my vodka, now we're talking.

  • Funny!

  • Sounds like you're on the right track. You know your weaknesses and what it will take to achieve your goals. Just get out there and do it.
  • Let me rephrase. In terms of mass a pound of fat is much larger than a pound of lean muscle. Thanks. (c:
  • Weight is only one measure of success. Goals should be towards living a healthier lifestyle. You may not be losing weight, but may be losing inches. Perhaps you're gaining muscle mass and losing fat. Lean muscle weighs much more than fat. Regarding whether or not you should eat your exercise calories back, you should do…
  • Those offended by these billboards are part of the problem. We need to stop being nice and start addressing the issues concerning the children of our society. These billboards make it hard to turn away because real faces are put on the issue. These are real kids with real health issues. They are in every neighborhood in…
  • California love. Nothing wrong with Southern Cal.
  • Don't worry about it! You did not get where you are overnight and you won't get to where you want to be overnight. Keep up whatever it is you're doing and you'll get there. You can do it!
  • Welcome Louise. I'm relatively new (14 days now) to this and absolutely love this site. You will find everyone is quite supportive of each other. Looking for recipe ideas? You'll find them here. Whatever you need; someone will have a suggestion. Good luck.
  • Completely guessing, but I would go with option #2. Create two recipes with the ingredients you plan on using and see which one is higher in calories, if this is your only concern. Otherwise, go with you you like.
  • I've only had eggplant on a couple of occasions. I made eggplant parmesan the other day and it was fantastic. Don't think I'd eat it raw though.
  • K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid It is all about balance. A balanced live is a healthy life. I'm still searching for balance, but I am closer than I have been in a long time. I did not get here overnight and I will not be where I want to in a day, week or month. Change takes time. The more gradual the change into a healthy…
  • Glad you found this board too. I have only been here a short time (1 week), but have found it to be fun and supportive. I, too, am 31 and although our goals are somewhat different they are very much the same. Diets simply do not work. I am making an effort to make a lifestyle change. I am lazy and need motivation and…
  • Take a case of water and drink it instead of coffees, teas, sodas, etc.
  • Been here less than a week and like it so far.
  • 2011 NorCal Warrior Dash will be my first. I can't wait.
  • I saw an article and video posted on FB. It was the Cleveland Cavaliers who were looking at him. I have not seen a follow-up article, but Mr. Williams does have an amazing voice. Who needs Lebron when you have Ted Williams?
  • Yep, I do it too. Try drinking a glass of water. Or even add a tablespoon of maple syrup to a glass of water.
