• @juliet3455 Thanks for the advice. I generally have knee injuries. They don't hold up like they used to. I have to learn to have rest days instead of trying to run EVERY weekday. It is just not something my knees seem to be able to handle any more.
• Hello, all. I am starting this again for the 4th time. I finish each year and then manage to get an injury that sidelines me. The last one was bad. I managed to gain back all of my weight, which makes this round of C25K even tougher. I am following the plan, even though I feel like I should be further along. I just don't…
• Hi, everyone. I see lots of new faces here since my last appearance. I started C25K over again (the 3rd or 4th time I have done it). I hurt my knee in July while attempting to train for a Half. I hadn't run in about 3 months so I decided to start all over again with the C25K. I am not as fast as I was in January but I am…
• @upsaluki That's awesome! I have just decided to give Half Training a try. I am not a fan of the app I selected but I guess I will make due. At least I have a plan. I seem to need that. Today was Day 3 Week 1.
• I am still out here plugging away. Doing some 5k races and getting some miles in when I can. Without a plan, it is easier to skip runs. That is not good for me!
• @upsaluki You are doing great! Be proud of your dedication and achievements!
•
For me, it doesn't round to the nearest one, it rounds up to the next level... so if I run an avg pace of 9:03 it will show that my pace was 10. Sometimes it messes with my head, but it does keep me motivated to stay under that next threshold... like the other day, I had a couple miles around 8:50-55 and a couple…
• I have a Garmin 110 and no matter what pace I run, MFP lists my running at an 11.5 minute mile pace. I assume it is using the calories burned from the Garmin but does anyone know why it always post the same pace?
• @goldenday Thank you.
• I did it, guys! I ran my 10K this morning in 47 degree temps and a light drizzling rain. I did much better than I expected. I always push harder on race day because I have that competitive streak still buried down inside me. My chip time was 1:01:10.
• @rusgolden and @upsaluki, I also am afraid of floundering without a training plan. I do not plan to stretch into the HM plans. I just don't have the time with all that is going on at home. I may re-do some of the 10K plan just so I have an active plan to follow. I fear I will slack off without one.
• Yeah, guys, I don't mind the cold either but cold and wet will not be a good time. :( Our mornings have been in the 30's and 40's here, rain on top of that will be miserable. I am not even sure how I will dress. Ugh...
• 10k TRAINING IS COMPLETE! My race is scheduled for Saturday and, of course, it is supposed to rain. I am a fair weather runner so the idea of it doesn't excite me. :(
• That is an awesome pace! I am nowhere near that nor do I see it in my future. I am going to set my 10K goal way out so that I don't pressure myself to go too fast and then die at the end.
• Ran again today, the last speed work run in the app and I guess it is working. I had my best pace yet according to the app.
• @LilGigi05 the app I found is the next step up from Couch to 5K. It is by Active and is called the 5Kto10K app, I believe. It looks the same as Couch to 5K and runs on the same principle. I like it. http://www.active.com/mobile/5k-to-10k-app
• I ran my first run in a Week due to numerous stressful life events. Did 40 minutes, still have 3 runs left and my 10K is scheduled for next weekend. I hope life calms down by then and that I feel more prepared.
•
You probably are done by now? Any races planned?
I am not quite done. Just 3 or 4 runs left. I have signed up for a 10K May 13th. I instantly regretted it and started questioning my ability. LOL Oh well, I signed up so now I will complete it one way or another.
• I did Week 8 (aka 17), Day 1 yesterday and Week 7, Day 3 today. Today was the long run. 55 minutes of steady run and 5 minute warmup and cool down. I made it to 6 miles today in my hour and 5 minutes! That is the furthest I have ever run on my own before. I did a 7 mile race 3 or 4 years ago but nothing like it since that…
• Great job, Wanda! You are doing great! Have you signed up for any races or do you have any future goals now that you have graduated the C25K program?
• Week 7, Day 2 complete (aka Week 16). I have the worst run on speedwork day. The speedwork exhausts me and then I end up walking when I shouldn't at times. I try to keep the walk to 30 seconds or less but it frustrates me that I get so exhausted from maximum effort.
• W7, D1 complete. Trying to squeeze my runs in around the rain that is coming this week.
• @Skipper111 Keep up the good work and you will get there! If I can do it with bad knees, anyone with determination can do it, too.
• Today's run was a 50 minute steady run that I was not mentally prepared for. I decided to try it and if it didn't happen, I was planning to redo the run later in the week. I am happy to say that it went well and I got 5.5 miles in. Woot!
• Week 6, D3 done (also known as Week 15)
• The 10K app will increase your 5K speed as well due to the speed work runs and the diversity in the plan.
• I used the original Couch to 5K for my first set, then transitioned to the app from the same company. It is by Active and is a 5K to 10K app. I really like it. I think the diversity in the runs helps keep things interesting. Each week you have a shorter, easier run, then a speed work type run, then a long run. I think it…
• Congrats! Proud of you for sticking with this for so long! Keep on running, my friend!
• Start the 5K to 10K plan? We can always use more people to post in the Bridge to 10K forum! LOL Just keep running so that you don't have to start over again in a year. It is amazing to think how difficult it was when we all started, isn't it? Congrats on graduating!
