  • I have run into the same thing, and with the comments like: "well, you are so thin you don't have to worry about what you eat etc." But at the same time, I also noticed that my attitude changed and have seen an attitude change in my friends and family who have lost weight. It is like a flower blossoming, we come out of our…
  • Sue, I had a very vivid picture in my mind of you trying to keep your britches on - thank goodness they didn't come all the way off and float to the top of the pool:laugh: I can just picture you climbing out of the pool, hope they had steps and not a ladder. Congratulations on your great weight loss and your dedication.…
  • Ann, Your transformation is so awe inspiring, and talk about courage, not many folks I know would post bathing suit photos no matter how they look buy your weight loss is so wonderful and you are a beautiful woman. In each of the first three photos, your smile gets bigger and bigger and in the one taken in March it has…
  • This is so right...you would be amazed at all the different sizes and shapes of human beings there are and they are all out there to be seen at a nude beach. Talk about getting comfortable with your own body - this would really do it!
  • I like this idea, because it is your mindset that keeps you from being comfortable in a skimpy bikini, so if you start out wearing it in your own back yard, and another one for going to your community pool, you will get comfortable in the skimpy one the more you wear it; and one day you will decide to wear it to the pool.…
  • I run into this a lot; I always thought it was because people thought I didn't need to loose weight in the first place, but I knew I did. When I was uncomfortable all the time, had no energy, clothes too tight - that was my push to get back in shape. At my age, too many added pounds is definitely not good; I am 70 years…
  • Heavens, I hope not, I am happy with the one man I have, too mature for that stuff, but I have seen people who's personality completely changes after loosing a lot of weight and getting in shape. I think that is because they have a lot more self confidence and are happier with themselves. But, maybe they use it as an…
  • Like you said, what works for one may not work for another. Whatever works for you is great and probably the book puts you on track for good healthy meals, and it sounds like this is what the plan is. It is like smoking, some can do it cold turkey, some need help in one way or another.
  • Fat is very necessary to our bodies if we want to continue to pass the waste products out of our systems, have hair on our heads and elsewhere on our bodies and grow finger nails Etc. It is just the type and quantity of fat. Everything in moderation; nothing is good and healthy if it is eaten to the exclusion of other…
  • You look great, the difference is so wonderful and you look so much happier in the new photo. Keep at it, you have the faith and will power to do this. Great job, and what a great way to see how well you are doing.:flowerforyou:
  • If you don't log everything, you have no idea how many calories you are consuming vs the calories you burn with exercise and could be eating way under what your body needs for fuel, or way over and maybe you shouldn't have that cookie you were contemplating because you already filled your calorie goal. If you are a…
  • You are still not eating enough calories, it isn't the amount of food, it is also the calorie intake vs calories out. Your body thinks you are starving and has gone into starvation mode:sad: . I know that some days it is hard for me to eat the 1200 calories on my plan, never mind eat back the exercise calories, but when I…
  • I am here for the same reason, got to maintenance, then put some back on, so started over, I kept posting even on maintenance, it makes me think about what I am putting in my mouth, and how active/inactive I am. Feel free to add me as a friend, I am on here every day. :flowerforyou:
  • I use the green bags too; Also, if I have fresh spinach I like to eat it instead of lettuce so don't want it canned (yuk) or frozen. I put it in a green bag and check it every day to be sure that if a leaf is starting to go bad it doesn't rot the whole bag. I am going to try the idea about covering the stems of the…
  • Hi everyone, just found this club, is it open to those of us a little older than 40? It has been a long time since I saw that birthday, turned 70 this year. Feeling great, actually have muscles in my upper arms. This group is awesome, I have leveled off about 5 pounds above where I thought I wanted to be, but have built up…
  • Just a thought, if you find yourself craving a certain food, just eat a small amount of that food and wait a bit and you probably won't be hungry any more. If you try to eat something other than what you are craving, you will still want that "something" and overeat.
  • You look great, now comes maintenance...Please stay with MFP, it really helps with maintenance. It makes you stay with the program of keeping track of what you eat and really helps keep the weight off.
  • Be sure you are eating your full calorie amount (a little under is ok, but not a lot under continuously - you body will think you are going into starvation mode and hold onto all the little fat buggers it can get a hold of.
  • As long as you are getting your exercise, I think using the HRM is fine. I don't deduct anything, but I usually don't eat my exercise calories either unless I have really been burning the calories that day. I figure if I at least do SOMETHING every day that is above and beyond sitting in my chair, I have accomplished…
  • Hi Sweety, I have been using MFP for a couple of years now and lost the weight I wanted to. I put a couple of pounds back on, but all in all, I am now in maintenance - this is harder than loosing the weight for me. Feel free to add me as a friend; I post every day, both food and exercise; and my diary is open. I found that…
  • You aren't short - just vertically challenged! Just like me. I am 5'2" and my weight is down to 112 and holding. the holding part is the hardest for me. You have done an awesome job and have every reason to be proud of yourself.
  • Be sure are are UPWIND when using mace! I always have my good friends Smith & Wesson with me, they are protection from about anything, except maybe bees and wasps. :ohwell:
  • I know a lot of people who go on low carb diets, or some other "cut out that type of food" diet. Sure, they loose the weight, but everyone I know tha has done that put it right back on within months. I love my cookies (not so much the chips) also, love carrot cake, ice cream, and on and on. So, I save my calories so I can…
  • I go to a very small gym in a senior center (yes, I am a senior); there is one woman who comes in with a ton of perfume on and always grabs the treadmill next to the one I am on. I have asthma among other things, and her perfume is a trigger for an attack. Even after being asked nicely to not wear so much of it, she still…
  • I don't usually meet my calorie goal, but I eat some of my exercise calories most days. I found that "dieting" is just not my thing, so I just cut down on the amounts of stuff I eat, then I can eat all the stuff Iike and not feel deprived. Have to watch the proteins and vitamins. Also, watch your sodium. But, they are…
  • That is one of the reasons I have hung onto some of my OLD patterns - I have already altered them so they fit. I do know what you mean about sizes though - in one store I wear a 2; in another I wear an 8! Sure wish we could buy clothes sized like our guys, by measurements instead of some arbitrary size! looking forward to…
  • Have you checked out the 100 calorie packs of cookies, crackers, Pepridge farm gold fish etc? They are great to keep around and you can usually find either sweet or salty snacks in these packs.
  • I don't go out for my tea, and drink it black with no sugar, no matter if it is black tea, or herbal. However, when I do drink sweet drinks Splenda is a must. I don't even have sugar in my sugar bowl anymore unless someone is coming to visit that uses it. Back to her double, double. I think she has found a great way to…
  • Everyone hit it on the head, tomorrow is a new day. Forget this bad one, just start fresh tomorrow. However, I wouldn't do anything rash, just your normal foods, liquids and exercise. This too will pass. I have added low calorie Gatoraid to the things I like to drink, water sometimes, makes me feel bloated, the…
  • Hi, yourself! I have been on this journey since January 1, 2010. I had started to loose weight in November 2009 9 my high was 130 lbs. I didn't have much success (consider Thanksgiving and Christmas) until my daughter got me hooked on MFP! It wasn't a quick journey, but it is very successful. I am within half a pound of my…
