  • Expensive, but, smoked salmon and cream cheese on a bagel thin.

  • Grape nuts and 1% milk. Just to ensure I get that needed refined sugar, I also had instant coffee with a little bit of sweetened condensed milk.
  • I find almond milk far less satisfying than either soy or cow milk since it has barely any protein or fat. Both protein and fat help me stay sated for longer.
  • I would suggest working on your mental health first, before you work so hard on your weight. Working on the first will lead to it being easier to work on the second.
  • LOL... 70% or bust... this stuff is absolute heaven if you can find it. Their 56% is pretty good, too.
  • It's so based on personal preference. I would go nuts without breakfast, but it seems from reading this that like 90% of people on here can take it or leave it, or even feel too nauseous if they eat too early.
  • I would get the steak. It would be the easiest main to log since it sounds like it's the only one without a sauce other than balsamic, since I don't live vinegar much, I'd get it without that anyway. If it was way too many ounces once it arrived, I'd just be sad while logging it. I wouldn't get any starters unless the…
  • If the issue is that specifically rich, buttery crackers are so tempting for you to binge on, then switch to less attractive crackers, so that it's easy to stop yourself after just a few since they're not as delicious. Saltines, or rice crackers (found usually in the gluten free section), both lack that richness, and…
  • I'm 5'3, not much shorter than you, but when I was at 146 lbs in Febuary, my weight loss calorie amount was around 1460 calories, for half a pound a week. It sounds like your calorie goal is too high or perhaps you didn't enter your activity level as 'sedentary' when it should be set to that.
  • Weight loss is not linear. I am not a perfect angel when it comes to logging food, but I am at a similar place to you: I'm 5'3'', my SW was 146, my CW is 133. Incluyding the exercise calories which I tend to eat back, my daily budget is around 1400 calories. I weigh myself almost every day. Here is what my chart looks…
  • The only reason I eat less 'junk' food than I used to isn't because I banned myself from it (I do eat chocolate every day still, just less of it), it's because it isn't as filling or satisfying as something else that I could be eating for the same amount of calories. There's no such thing as "bad" and "good" food for me…
  • http://ahouseinthehills.com/2013/04/25/nori-veggie-wraps-my-everyday-staple/ I loved these. For protein I added baked tofu (but I don't mind the taste), and I subbed cream cheese for hummus since I had it handy.
  • Realizing that so many people like the convenience of soylent enough to not mind its boringness made me realize that not everybody takes as much pleasure in real food as I do. And that's OK. You can have more of it, I'll be eating vegetables and herbs and fruits and meats over here.

  • I didn't pack lunch today, so I was walking around the city looking for take-out. I really felt like getting a big platter of pierogies or halal food from a cart. Or some teriyaki chicken. But I was a good girl. I got the salmon sushi roll. 200 calories. This site is so inspirational to me!
  • My ad right now is for American Airlines. Probably from my fantasizing about a vacation I can't actually afford. :)
  • I had to look up what a "VS Angel" was... and it made me laugh. Thanks. :) You have a good attitude about things, and if your starting weight/TDEE is high enough, 30 or even 40 pounds is doable. Go for it!
  • This guys sounds like he's not worthy of your time and attention, if he would be mad at you for gaining weight. You don't need therapy, you need to find someone new who isn't so unnecessarily harsh on you.
  • MFP doesn't yell at me for having a net calorie day of less than 1200 if I get that low by the subtraction from exercise calories alone. Perhaps it is different for those with an activity level set to higher than sedentary. For instance, if I ate 1400 calories, but I exercised for 300 calories and inputted it, it doesn't…
  • Don't worry about overdosing on potassium pills... at least at the drug stores and GNC's I've been to, there are no supplements that provide more than a tiny % RDV of potassium at once. If that. Most multivitamins don't have it at all. Probably because of the fact that too much at once can kill you. I was looking for a…
  • The only brand that I find consistently has xylitol in it is Trident, and only their mint flavors, for some reason.
  • Pret A Manger is a UK chain right? They're my favorite place for sandwiches in NYC since most of them are under 500 calories.
  • I miss Panera. I just don't go there anymore since I started counting. Part of it is the temptation of the treats. It's cheaper to make your own sandwiches at home, anyway.
  • A few years ago, some chain restaurants started doing 'small plates' in imitation of the urban 'tapas' trend. Some of them still have that on their menu, but lots got rid of it. I love that trend and wish it would stick around. There were usually some great lower-calorie options on there. Personally, I'd pay the same…
  • There's no law dictating that a restaurant calorie count must be accurate. In some cities they must place it on their menus, but there's no legal problem if their 'estimated' calorie counts are inaccurate. Unlike packaged foods, which have what, a 15% leeway? In most cities, there't not even a law that requires calories on…
  • Cons: Social difficulties. Happy birthday! I can't eat even a small slice of cake though, as - unlike normal plain calorie counting - even small cheats break the efficacy of the diet (if you believe in it.)
  • Most protein bars have too much sugar/calories for my needs. I feel like they're more appropriate for people doing heavy workouts more often than I do, or for people body-building. When I was a few calories and protein, I go for hard-boiled eggs, roasted salted edamame, or beef jerky.

  • One hard thing about eating fast food is avoiding the calories from side dishes and drinks. Get water, or black coffee/black with splenda coffee, or diet soda, with your breakfast.
  • Some animal studies have showed it messing with the gut biome, even at normal consumption levels (not the absurd consumption levels you sometimes see in animal studies.) http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0109841 I'm cautious about my gut biome, I'd rather not take a substance that has been…
