  • Not this year, the barn had one last year at this time though!
  • If you'd like a lot of positive help, but from a horse person, sign up for Motivation from Moshi by Jane Savoie. I enjoy it anyway. http://www.janesavoie.com
  • I'm not too sure with your medication how it would mess up things. You enter your height/weight/age/and other info into the watch part of it. You wear a chest strap that is synced up to the watch. I have a Polar HRM, which is one of the better brands, but of course a bit more expensive (everyone recommended this one,…
  • Welcome! My number one tip I give riders is to get and wear a HRM when at the barn, and also when riding, of course. I about fainted when I saw how many calories I was burning!
  • We ride early in the morning, or later in the evening. You learn to find shade when you show, and be smart about how long you're in the sun. Staying hydrated all the time, horses too of course. However, we're used to it and I've been told your body adapts over time. When it gets below 70 I am FREEZING!!!
  • Perhaps the solution is to move where I am in FL? :) We have maybe a total of a couple of weeks or so where it gets around freezing at night. The most you need is a medium weight blanket!
  • Yes, they won't move until I tell them to. :) We have well-trained dogs in my house, and if they're not...they will be before they leave (I look after dogs sometimes for people)! I tried to write down all the commands they know one time, and it went past a legal sized piece of paper! The CGC itself was not easy to get (in…
  • Here are my babies! All rescues. (left to right) Sadie (CGC, plays flyball), Margarita (in training), and Rigby (CGC).
  • Welcome! I will check out your site.
  • Awesome, thank you! I will have to look into the one on Netflix first because we have that. Hopefully, it's on the instant online thing because we don't have the order DVD thing. Either way, I'll check out all the video ones first. I tend to not like to read, unless I have to. ha ha I've been doing a 15-20 minute light…
  • I have a Polar also, got mine here...and this is the one I have (female in black): https://www.healthchecksystems.com/Polar_FT40_Heart_Rate_Monitor.cfm I love it. Also, the only thing I do have it set to do when I wave it near my chest strap...is it tells me what time it is. Otherwise, I don't need to have my watch…
  • I'll be riding my horse, and the one I might be getting (trading my horse for) as much as possible before I leave town to see my family for Xmas. I'll only be gone for the weekend of Xmas, so it's not like they'll be getting a lot of time off or anything. There are lots of shows starting in January, onward....but I'm not…
  • I don't have a "routine", but I am as active as possible. I ride/train horses 4-5 days a week, and I play tennis once a week (was an A level player when on teams). You would not BELIEVE how many calories you burn riding, I compete in show jumping...so we're not talking trail rides. I wear a polar HRM and am always amazed!…
  • This weekend and the beginning of next week look really nice, but then it looks like another front is coming through. I don't think it's going to be quite as cold though, or so say the weather guys.
  • What's your name? Abigail Where do you live? Florida How long have you been riding? Since 2 1/2, with a gap between 17-29 What's your discipline? Compete in jumpers mostly, but also dressage...and always strive for great equitation! What's your horse's name/breed (if applicable)? Levitation (or Levi for short) who is an…
  • I'm in FL too!
  • I have hypothyroidism (still have my thyroid though), and I also have fibromyalgia. Meds for the fibro can cause weight gain (or water weight too, depends on the person), I am on synthroid for the thyroid. I've had my levels checked recently. I haven't lost any weight now since 4/2, and I haven't lost any inches since…
  • According to my HRM, I burn an average of 200 in the 28 minutes, no matter what part it is. Today I did 206, but tomorrow I may only do 192. I am 5'3" and I would say I am fit, just not toned enough and need to get rid of the last 10-15 lbs. I can definitely tell that my body is changing, my hubby is loving my arms, ha ha!…
  • Hey guys! I saw samb post on this topic, so I had to also! Please feel free to add me as a friend if you like too. I have an 8 y/o thoroughbred, we mainly compete in jumpers and dressage. Not sure how much dressage we'll do this year, but we did win Champion of Spring series last year, and got 3rd overall for the year in…
  • I just ordered one about 5 minutes ago from healthchecksystems.com. I talked to them on the phone also with a few questions I had. They also threw in a free cinch bag, and I got 6% off for using a code. I ended up buying the FT40F, but you may not want all that. If you go to http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/compare…
  • I know I'm a little late posting on this thread, but wanted to say I hope to get a HRM soon. That way I'll really know what MY body is doing when I ride. I have heard many say horse riding is not a sport and you don't get a good workout from it. Well, those people must be just walking on leisurely trail rides or something!…
  • I'm in! I started riding when I was 2 1/2. I currently own an 8 y/o OTTB and we compete in jumpers and dressage. I haven't been able to ride for over 2 months now because of a herniated disc in my neck, but hope to be back up there very soon! Please add me as a friend, I'd love to have more horse people! :)
  • What about sandwich thins like these? http://www.arnoldbakery.com/Thins/ListProducts.aspx
  • From one horse lover/owner to another I hear you on the breeches! I about throw up every time i see photos of myself in them. I can see the progression of my weight gain as the competitions go on over time. Here's to better breeches photos! ha ha
  • Ok, I will add you!
  • Elizabeth_C34 - Thanks, and to you too! Love your profile pic with the wedding dress. I don't let myself look at my wedding photos too much because it's too depressing....I loved the weight I was then. I know it should inspire me, but it actually doesn't. I think the photos where I look BAD actually inspire me more!
  • NicolePatriot - Snow is not fun if you have to spend an entire winter in it, trust me! I can't stand it anyway, ha ha! bluiz13 - Ty, I will def add you in a minute. cardbucfan - My family is all in Tampa too! We had tons and tons of rain since early morning until now. I think it's finally gone! Show jumping is my favorite…
  • Well, I've got some friend requests I think because of my post, but no hi's on here!? Anyone out there ride horses? Love their dogs or cats? Umm...wish they were in FL because there's no snow? ha ha
  • I'll add you as a friend. This site is definitely making the weight battle a little easier for me so far!
  • Welcome! I loved Zumba when I was doing it, but I also love dancing as well (especially latin ballroom). Have you started with it yet? If not, make sure you get a great teacher who uses fun music. It may be a bit frustrating at first until you get some of the moves, but soon enough you will be doing it no problem.
