I think an extra bit of warm up and stretching will definitely help. I like to do each for 5 reps: bar, 95lbs, 135 lbs. Use whatever weights you'd say are pretty light for you, as long as you slowly and comfortably progress up to your working sets (so maybe for you: bar, 65 lbs, 85 lbs). Then after I will start my working…

If you have a good enough experience with lifting, which I assume you do, I'd look into something similar to PPL by Coolcicada. You can run it as PPL-rest-PPL or PPLPPL-rest After being on such a long cut (2 years), I was afraid of the high volume but my body surprised me by how much it could handle on a bulk. Starting…

Are you taking any types of supplements? Preworkout, BCAA's, etc?

Squats are probably the most important resistance exercise you can add in to your routine. It works SO many muscles within your body, so it is good that you are looking to incorporate them in to your routine. I would recommend a beginner lifting routine, something like Starting Strength or Strong Lifts (I prefer strong…

I did T25 earlier on in my weight loss journey and finished Alpha and Beta, losing about 10 lbs total. I have not done the cycle over again, but on days when I do not feel like going on a jog or the gym is closed, I will pop in T25 and do a video or two. The losing weight is entirely up to you, you need to have your diet…

I started after losing weight continuously for 2 years (85 lbs lost). I got to maybe 13-15%, which for some is a bit high to begin a bulk. But for me, I was physically and mentally exhausted from constantly losing weight for 2 years so I went for it and started my first ever bulk about 3 weeks ago. I'm seeing progress in…

I don't know exactly how this is affecting my training, but it is something that has worked for me. I am currently on a bulk, so my main focus is strength and mass so cardio might be more important in your goals. Low weight warm up on compound lift (bench, squat, or DL depending on the day). Stretch Working sets on…

^ This. An upping of carbs will not cause you to suddenly gain body fat. It may cause an increase in water retention (hence the scale moving up), but this does not last forever.

I will rarely ever feel sore in my abs, even after doing an intense ab workout. The only time I encounter REAL soreness in my abs is after hitting a new record on deadlifts.

I had a guy who wanted to work in on bench with me. I was doing 5x5 slow and controlled reps, all touching my chest. I don't know why, but he insisted that I don't need to touch chest ever and proceeded to add on another pair of 45's for his set and barely went down for any of his reps. He tried to convince me to stay at…

Both go hand in hand with overall health, but lifting will define your body much more than cardio. If your diet is on point and you eat a deficit, fulfill your macros, and lift heavy- you will see great results. Cardio will allow you to eat more food and maintain a healthy heart and lungs. Look up proven lifting routines…

I have lost 85 lbs over the course of 2 years and have just recently booked myself a date for a tummy tuck due to a bunch of loose skin. My surgery is in about a month and a half and I have put my calorie goal to maintain. I am exhausted from being in a constant deficit for 2 years and I am giving myself the mental rest…

The reason low-carb diets will work for some people is because this means the food will most times be low-calorie as well. So when they go on these diets, they do not realize that they are losing weight due to having a smaller calorie intake than usual and are now in a caloric deficit, which is the only way to truly lose…

I use runkeeper, really easy to use. Also tracks weight loss as well.

^ I did T25, then Insanity, then Insanity Asylum. Each is a huge step above the one before it.

How has no one mentioned doughnuts? :open_mouth:

Love this one- always do it alongside barbell OHP. Definitely one of my favorites!
-
Thank you everyone for your advice- I will continue to cut for a bit longer and then look into bulking/reverse dieting after. Thanks!
-
If it makes any sort of difference to whether or not I should be bulk/cutting/maintaining- I am considering a mini tummy tuck.

Yeah, I just went and put my stats into multiple sites that didn't require body fat % for LBM calculations because I cannot get a proper estimate on my simply due to some loose skin and lack of resources, besides calipers. Thanks! Hopefully I can get some more insight :)

My profile pic is my before and after. I've lost 85+ lbs and am trying to get another 10-15 down before attempting my first ever bulk.

Definitely get a good burn from gigs. I made a playlist one day that consisted of heavy, fast paced songs. The playlist was about an hour and usually had no stops within them. I wore my HRM and drummed along the playlist as if I was performing. After working up a crazy good sweat, the HRM says I burned about 500 calories.…

I've been using this for over 2 years and it has always worked for me. http://www.amazon.com/Eatsmart-Precision-Bathroom-Technology-440-Pounds/dp/B0032TNPOE/ref=sr_1_9_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1456966571&sr=1-9&keywords=scale

What worked for me was what I refer to as "cheat" pull ups. I'd jump to the bar and as soon as I had a grip, I would use the momentum to pull myself up and then lower myself as slowly as possible (So basically negatives). I could barely do one rep back in November, and with the help of that momentum I am now able to do…

Did chest day and some cardio: Chest: Bench Press - Incline Dumbbell Press - Incline Dumbbell Flys - Isolation Flat Dumbbell Presses - Dips Cardio (Treadmill): 1 mile at 6.5mph 1 mile at 7 mph 0.25 mile walk 0.25 mile sprint at 10.5mph 0.5 mile jog at 6mph

I lift 3-5 days a week, and go for at least 10-30 minutes of cardio every day (sometimes HIIT).

I've only been to LA fitness once and they weren't too keen on deadlifting. Maybe it was just the one I went to.

Caloric deficit + good strength training program = Low body fat levels. With a lower body fat percentage, you will get abs.

I know there was a study done a while ago about drummer calorie burns. I don't remember who exactly was the subject of study, but he was fairly famous- I'm thinking Neil Pert? Anyways, they monitored his heart rate and breathing and they calculated that he burned around 1000 calories after performing a 90 minute show. This…

Usually only feel sore after hitting more reps than usual or I add on volume.
