  • Not sure if it's genetics or what, but while I do have some sagging skin, I don't have a lot of wrinkles. I am not done with my weight loss so I'm currently adding in some weight lifting to my workout in the hopes of replacing some of that with muscle. I know that won't completely eradicate loose skin but I'm okay with…
  • I eat between 70 - 85 gms of protein a day. I eat seitan, quinoa, beans, nuts, dark green veg, eggs greek yogurt and cheese. I also currently supplement with Isopure Whey protein isolate. Previously I supplemented with Biochem Vegan protein powder. What I've read is for women 50 -60 gms is good, but if you work out you…
  • Yup. I 'll walk to the store and buy 1 mini resse's peanut butter cup and chew really slowly. If it's at night I'll make a cup of hot coco. It's taken a long time, but I'm finally at the point where I can eat a bit of chocolate without going nuts.
  • You are female. That is a female shape. There are many, many people getting silicone injected into their bodies to look like that.
  • I honestly only log it for record keeping purposes. I do think it estimate high, but I usually don't factor the calories burned into my diet anyway. I just like being able to log that I worked out for _____amount of time. I know their are other apps that likely could be more accurate, but I like having everything in one…
  • I also had surgery. It honestly varies. I had zero pain. I was walking in recovery. It felt like I had done a vigorous workout the day before. I was sore but not in pain of any sort. I didn't need pain meds one single time while I was in the hospital. Best yet it helped put a few chronic conditions I had into remission…
  • The fewer processed foods I ate, vegan or vegetarian the less I graved sweets. I found I could then eat a piece of fruit and be perfectly satisfied. Not drinking soda also made a tremendous difference. In fact 95% of the time I drink plain old water.
  • I buy FAGE 0% Greek yogurt, but I've also come to accept the fact that my carbs will be higher than most. I try to make sure that they are complex carbs and I also try to get most of my carbs in between breakfast and lunch so that I am burning them when I go to the gym.
  • A few things might help. when I was a regular coffee drinker I could easily fill up on that and nothing else. Try reducing the amount of coffee you drink by half or even doing without it altogether. Coffee will often give you the illusion of fullness. You can even cut your salmon down to 3 ounces instead of 5. Are you able…
  • Frozen foods are your friend as are farmer's markets and produce markets. I buy fruit when it's cheap and in season and freeze so I have fruit year round. I also buy in bulk fresh green beans and freeze. Learning to cook your own beans from scratch is a great way to save. High protein beans like lentils and black beans are…
  • Read the original post. OP asked for a fitness tracker "that's a watch style, heart rate monitor ( but no chest strap) , pedometer, and counts calories burned". Polar's heart rate monitor's do that.
  • Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor might be what you are looking for. Google around I've seen prices ranging from $50- $99 Polar is one of the few brands that doesn't sync with MFP if that's not an issue for you, then this may be right up your alley. In fact looking at polar's site there are a few you might like the FT 7 and FT…
  • just check off walking slow pace under cardio
  • It's important to stay within all ranges. For example you could be eating fast food and staying within your caloric goal but not losing because you're going over on sodium.
  • I weigh either once a month or when I go to the doctor. Same calories but I look at my macros. I try to keep my carbs low and make sure that most of the carbs I eat are coming from complex carbs and not simple "white" carbs like rice, pasta, potatoes and refined sugars. I also keep an eye on my sodium & sugar. I follow a…
  • ITA - WLS was just a tool for me. I didn't have co-morbidities associated with weight loss. I was pre-diabetic but everything else was a chronic health issue that anyone regardless of weight could have. The difference was my weight made them worse and every time I got sick, I regained everything I loss. After losing and…
  • It is not easy. It take a lot of work before and post op. Look up the various types of bariatric surgery. Discuss with your physician what might be best for you. A good resource is Bariatricpal.com
  • Don't have the conversation. You don't agree, so change the subject. You may even have to actually state, "We have different viewpoints on this so perhaps it's best we talk about something else."
  • I would recommend you contact your doctor and have you meet with a nutritionist. This is more than just eating 1200 calories. My only recommendation would be to get rid of that AM carb load. Replace the cereal with fruit and yogurt or eggs. The increased protein might help. Honestly though, I can't emphasize this enough.…
  • Sip water and make sure you are getting your protein in. My doctor prescribed generic prilosec for stomach acid. I haven't had any issues but they said they prefer patients take it at least the 6mths post op.
  • Facebook has a Gastric Sleeve group. www.facebook.com/GastricSleeveSupportGroup
  • I had my surgery 9/18. I did really well post op. Had my first f/u on 10/1 and was down 24lbs. I'm now doing soft foods and I'm nervous that I'm not eating correctly. It's a challenge because I'm vegetarian and I *really* dislike all the protein powders & drinks I've tried.
  • Lane Bryants now carries workout wear in store. They almost always have something on the sale racks. Their pants are so long I have to buy the capri length since I'm short at 5'3". I like that the fabirc is sturdier than Old Navy because they hold up to multiple washings a lot better.
  • Here's an entire list. http://www.buzzfeed.com/deenashanker/meals-with-tons-of-protein-and-no-meat
  • Breakfast should be something substantial. Eggs, peanut butter, oatmeal all work good for me. Sometimes a mid morning snack of almonds helps as well as drinking plenty of water. I like to have 8oz first thing in the morning.
