Cool, but it's not a shady place, I don't think. I agree that people should use common sense. But I got psuedomembraneous intercolitis from western doctors overprescribing me antibiotics, so my *kitten* detector is pretty up in every direction, including some accepted science.

I agree about the fleecing and all the new agey stuff making money. I see it everywhere, and it's a slippery slope. But I don't think $175 is much to pay someone to totally jumpstart my digestion. I don't think I would have figured it out on my own. I'm trying to work so don't want to totally go into it here but woudl be…

no, i get that. maybe it's helpful to someone. I'll check out the studies, I'm trying to work and not get sucked into this so didn't read every post, was really commenting on the first person.

what are these treatments? ayurvedic eating in my experience doesn't involve treatments? And yes, I'm talking from my experience. I'm definitely not a scientist, and obviously tests are important to pay attention to. I often feel on these forums that folks are really cherry-picking these tests as I see western doctors in…

yeah i could have but sometimes I am able to admit that people know more than me, and need to know more about my body and patterns and how I eat. I wouldn't have gotten all that from a cookbook. What is this negligent fraud in common ingredients? Are you talking about supplements? I eat mostly whole foods and take some…

Can you describe the radical impact your nutritionist has had on your wallet?[/quote] Sure thing - so far $175. But I've saved some money by cooking more. The deal I'm trying to get at though is that I've been cooking my food instead of eating alot of raw food and its had a crazy wonderful impact on my digestion, and…

hi, I see you have posted something that sets off a bunch of (the same) people who love to call everyone else trolls! just ignore it. I've been consulting with an ayurvedic nutritionist for about three months now and it has had a radical impact on my digestion. Would love to have a real discussion but just try to be…

i like them but sometimes they upset my stomach. they definitely don't have the most natural taste. favorite flavor is cookie dough.
-
maybe do a post asking people who are in the same boat as you to friend you? (starting with the people in this thread) ...or people who have been through this? That could be a great support forum.
-
Is there a way to tell if your posts have been deleted?
-
I noticed that this went down from 506 to 476 posts...???
-
I love califia farms vanilla almond milk...and I like coconut milk alot too. You should have fun trying some different things...

i used to never hit my potassium and now I am because I'm eating alot of collards, kale, and other whole foods. I'll friend you if you want and you can check out what I'm eating. Now that I'm eating mostly whole foods, I don't really even have to think about it. Also maybe you know this but if you post something like…

ha!

Well as is made clear by this thread, one person's logic and reasoning can be quite different than another's, and I don't follow y'alls logic most of the time. I also am not following your "use of harmony" point at all? I'm also gonna take a break from this, gotta get some work done.
-
that makes sense for you, but I'm sure you can see that where I am coming from, it makes sense that I might pay more attention to a study co-authored by a Harvard physician than an anonymous MFP poster trained in computer science. Albeit one who reads medical studies.
-
yes, that is helpful - I was wondering if you had training in either allopathic or integrative health. Since you've been posting alot of studies, I wondered if you were somehow involved in medicine of some kind.
-
What you are saying now makes sense, but that isn't what you said before. I don't assume credibility out of Harvard either, but I thought it would fall under y'alls definitions of credible based on previous posts.
-
Well you sound fascinating, intelligent, and with much interesting life experience. :) And I have looked at your diary....definitely healthy. All that said, you are not a doctor, though most of my last gripe was more aimed at @senecarr and everything I say being debunked. I see top medical doctors in LA as well....ones…
-
@senecarr I apologize if the enquiry into your health and eating habits sounds a little mean. I am just curious about the habits of who is giving advice or making claims.
-
I get your point. Based on this reasoning, anyone can be discredited. Therefore anything I say you can point out a fallacy. It's frustrating. And you did not answer my question about being involved in the medical profession. I'd also be quite curious to know about your eating and health habits.
-
I'm not sure what she has to do with anything. Based on the response I'm getting from y'all, it does seem like anything I say will be discredited. I am not a doctor but I'm curious if any of you work in the medical profession?
-
i dunno. James Lederer doesn't sound like a Japanese name.
-
if you look at author info it says harvard medical school? sounds reputable.
-
You're only answering parts of my questions, and the ones that suit you so I don't really know how to respond to you, and don't think it's worthwhile to continue. Good luck with your weight loss and journey on here!
-
This is great info, thank you!!
-
Hey, I'd love it if you could respond to what is being discussed here (maybe my post directly above yours) instead of insulting us on this thread? This is the tone I'm talking about - condescension.
-
after reading this a few times I'm not sure what you mean? Aren't you saying the same thing I am? Also, at this point, in response to many of these threads, I'm not just talking about ayurveda. I'm talking about complementary integrative health. In my original post, I was asking a question about ayurveda and digestion. And…
-
I agree with @miriamtob here, though i do think that @mamapeach has some thoughtful things to say for sure. what's the point in picking out the most inflammatory things on alternative meds and posting it as "ayurveda?" it's laughable to anyone who has gone to a good chinese medicine doctor or been to a (good) integrative…

oscillococinum (sp?) is homeopathic and works for me. It's what everyone on film shoots uses for the first sympton of flu-like colds, sold at every deli in NYC, now at some truck stops....I wonder if it didn't work if it would be so omnipresent? I've been taking it for years...it def tastes like sugar placebos, but it dang…
