Hi, nice to see a Scottish residents(!) group B) I'm returning to mfp after nearly a year as I have more time on my hands post 7th May! My wife and I went on the 5:2 diet just over two years ago with great success. I dropped 3 stones, she managed 2 stone. We've both drifted a bit, 10lbs for me and she's not saying! So here…

You look great, well done :)

Interesting. I've just reached my desired weight and still thinking about what to do re maintenance, also my wife is still dieting so I want to support her. We're on the 5:2 so I'll experiment with the '5' days.

Wow, that is all!

My sister in law is Scots Canadian, is this a Glasgow v Edinburgh thing you have going?

I knew I was hooked when I came in from having a few drinks, and nearly did my usual high cal snacking. This time I opened a packet of pistachios then told myself to put them away.

With your calorie intake and exercising, it sounds like a whole new lifestyle for you. Congratulations on your success.

You look fantastic!

Sensational, you must be so proud of yourself.

Whisky or wine. No beer since I started the weight loss programme. Enjoying a Glenlivet right now!

A much better week. 3.6 lbs lost and probably due to no big events, parties etc, + extra physical activity preparing a room for decorating. Lots of sanding down, jumping on and off ladders. Downside could be my better half might be less lucky. She's got a bad back and hasn't moved much for a few days. I'll have to resist…

It dawned on me when I add only calories if I can't get the food info, all the other readings are zero. I know it sounds obvious, but it took a few days to realise how much info was on mfp tables. My iron is still low but I sense a lot of saag curries looming!

My diary says I should be 1200 min and 1800 max. I thought it is a function of how much you want to lose, in what time and your activity lifestyle. I entered 1lb/week. My wife entered 2lb/week and was given a max of 1200cals

I became over 50 18 years ago :-( You've found a great site for advice and encouragement, good luck. My wife and I are getting on well with the plan so far. I managed to persuade her to get the app on her smartphone and now she's off and running.

Very well done, the difference in your neck is amazing, you should be very proud.

As soon as someone says they read the DM my heart sinks.

After an operation 14 years ago I was advised to increase my iron intake. I nearly became addicted to spinach and ginger soup!

Absolutely! MFP + my new electronic scales make it easy. This 5:2 diet I'm on where 2 days have an intake of only 600 cals means accurate counting.

Can you alter your starting weight to one you were at before you joined mfp? Just tried, and you can!

Sometimes called the ELMO diet, eat less move often. I'm retired, (10 years), and this winter really became a couch potato, then our daughter announced she is getting married in June. This has spurned me on to get the weight off so that I'll look half decent in a kilt. I've actually lost 12lbs and feel chuffed. Doing an…

I think mothers have the hardest job, gaining all the weight during pregnancy and then being stressed out bringing up the wee ones. On the plus side the mother-child bond is something only they will have. Good luck to you, you deserve some me time!

There's a popular diet in the UK just now called the 5:2, 2 days on less than 500cals for females, 600 for men. On the other 5 days you can eat normally. We have a few friends on it and all say it's working for them. Good luck, Gordon
