Dates dipped in peanut butter, banana, or a handful of almonds and raisins mixed.

Agreed. People are going around like this is so earth-shattering, but it's pretty much common sense.

Thank you! I've been doing "maintenance-lite" for a little while, trying to just eat sensibly without tracking religiously, and i've been able to maintain well that way. I'm trying to jump back into losing the last bit, but I think I'll up my calories back to 1lb/week so I can fuel my workouts! (And yes, I strength train,…

Posting here for advice: I'm 5'6" and my goal weight is 150. I have a large frame and tend to pack on muscle -- plus, I know my body. It doesn't do well below 145 or so. I've lost 21 lbs so far (and three-plus jeans sizes!), putting me at 162.8 currently. So, my common MFP wisdom, as I'm 12-ish lbs from my goal, should I…

Thanks, everyone!

There are multiple informative posts on that topic. Long story short, you don't want to starve yourself. Slightly longer story: If you are athletic at all, or work out, you need food to fuel your workouts and build muscle.

Agreed! Entire food groups are not demons.

If you want to look in my diary, you can get some ideas. I usually keep my dinner to 300-400 calories. How about a big salad with chicken or hard-boiled eggs? Scrambled eggs/egg whites, fruit, and toast? Soups and sandwiches?

Yep, muscle density. I've gone from a size 16 to a size 10 and I've only lost 16 lbs!
-
You look awesome!!!! Great job!

Yes, that's why i drink lowfat milk. i hate the taste of milk! Blah.
-
I am 35 with 2 kids...feel free to add me!

I have lowfat milk in my cereal and eat lowfat plain yogurt. I use olive oil and butter for cooking and use butter on toast. Margarine and butter substitutes taste so foul to me!
-
Thanks, everyone! I think I am a good example of the body type that drops inches instead of pounds...only 16 lbs in 6 months, but it's a big difference in how I look!

Fixed!

Eat it, track it, move on! I just try to eat mindfully on holidays or special dinners...like, which of the desserts do I really, really want? I don't eat things just because they're there; I try to splurge on the things I love. I don't celebrate Easter, but I love Cadbury mini-eggs. *g* I am going to make room in my cals…

If you want the scientific answer... genetics determines where our fat cells are deposited. So if your body naturally wants to store fat in your thighs, then there it goes. Reducing your overall bodyfat reduces fat cell SIZE, not quantity. You'll still have the same number of fat cells. Nothing you can do through diet and…

That's really odd. I'm 5'6" and currently weigh 167, and it gives me 1480 calories/day to lose 1lb/week.
-
I try and eat healthy, even on my more relaxed days, but I do take one "cheat" day off from tracking. I might have the same food that I have during the week, but not counting every little bite does a lot for my sanity.

Spinach, yogurt, mangoes, coconut, and almond milk!
-
Russell, just want to thank you for your advice. Adding in a spike day has helped me bust through a month-long plateau. Awesome!

Shop the edges of the store, just the meat, dairy, fruits, veggies, and bulk items. Lots of whole foods, plus beans (dried or canned) and whole grains, like quinoa, whole grain pasta, and brown rice.

Yes, you can lose that kind of weight after gastric bypass. But it can severely impact your health in other ways. While you're losing that kind of weight post-surgery, you need to be on a whole ration of different medications, supplements, and you need to be monitored closely by doctors. If you are obese to the point where…

When I was my very smallest, in my 20's and pre-kids, I was 137. I'm guessing I'll hit maintenance around 145-150 this time around. I will switch to maintenance when I know it's time. My goals are more fitness-related: 5k, 10k, lower body fat percentage, etc.

Great post. Bump.

I can't see your diary, but you can feel free to look at mine for some ideas. I have my up and down days like everyone else, but I try to eat pretty clean.
-
Actually, the "magic number" is based on your BMR. So no, 1200 is not the magic number for everyone! 1200 is the minimum for small-to-average-sized women.

Yes, I do this. I still try to eat well, but I'll have a few glasses of wine with dinner and I won't sweat it if it's one of those rare weeks where I go out to eat. The break, for me, isn't the change in what I'm eating. It's not doing the dang logging.

That's awesome! I've been really struggling with running outside, so it's great to hear that you can power through! I tried my 20-minute run outside on Friday, but the hills killed me.

I don't have any huge desire to weigh in, but I've been doing pretty awful in the eating department all week, partly because I feel less accountable. :( I wasn't expecting that. I didn't think I needed those numbers and that they were only stressing me out, but I'm surprised to feel like they were really keeping me on…
