  • That's awesome. What sort of calorie deficit do you have per day?
  • Congrats! 1lbs per week is said to be healthy weight loss, but to be honest I am hoping for a bit more than that. At least with some water weight coming off first. I get so easily demotivated when the scale doesn't move. I haven't weighed in a while and didn't manage to start my diet right away, so just been at it for a…
  • I eat 70% or above. They have considerably less sugar. You have to get to 85% before you get the antioxidants people associate with dark chocolate. I don't know what the definition is of "clean eating" but if I was obsessively on that, I'd stick to 85%. Obviously you need to always read the package carefully. I have read…
  • I've been using Nuvaring on and off for many years and it's the only type of contraceptive I've been using. In short, I haven't seen enough of a tendency one way or another to say that it impacts weight gain or loss. If I'm committed to losing weight, I will, whether I'm using it or not. If I'm not committed, I won't lose…
  • I'm 23 and looking to lose about 20 lbs, maybe up to 22 lbs. I feel old, when I was 17 I ate whatever I wanted, at 19 I could at least lose it easily. Things are getting harder :(
  • Edit: whoa they were larger than I thought. Anywho, they are pictures that really remind I want to look hot in bikini / tights.
  • I agree about not being demeaning towards anyone, regardless of their bodies. Calling someone's body "disgusting" is really, really rude, and I associate that kind of thing with internet trolls. Needless to say, that goes both way. Overweight people shaming those who are thin, thin shaming the obese. Slim women shaming…
  • I don't think people gain their weight back because they eat too healthy? I am more likely to "explode" if I eat pasta, burgers, chocolate in moderation and go hungry to bed than if I eat much more healthy foods.

  • I don't eat whatever I want to eat because it doesn't work. If I'm having pasta and wine I can't eat enough to make me full, at least not for long. It's why most people eat differently on a diet, after all. By "superfoods" I don't mean miracle foods, as I said. I'm well aware of the fact that calorie deficit is the only…

  • Thanks for the advice everyone. The problem in the past is that I've been very hung up on the limit. As in thinking "oh well I'm above 1200 so might as well make it a cheat day" and then eating loads. 1500 is not so bad. I'll to stay slightly below it.
  • Thanks for this! I just wanted to know that if I ate 1500 a day I will lose eventually. I don't want to take too long but I don't want to starve myself either. I tried 1200 before and I completely crashed - managed 2-3 days than had acute hunger. So 1400-1500 a day seems okay. I will try to get in more exercise. I will try…
  • Not converting to energy faster, but keeping you full for longer.
  • I'm always hungry before bed. I make room for a little snack after dinner, but I'm still hungry. It's resulted in me going to bed really early, which is good :) I'm super hungry for breakfast though, and these days I'm having bigger and bigger breakfasts.
  • I mostly eat salmon nigiri and sometimes edamame beans. No sauce. I had chicken teryaki today and it's only 340 calories or so... I hope the food is clean though, and not packed with something else.
  • You mean in the sense that I will crash or that I simply won't lose that much? As for now I'm managing the calories fine.
  • Anyone?
  • That sounds pretty unhealthy for your friend too. I think these "binge" or "drink up" get togethers after break ups are kind of glorified - it's supposed to be an okay thing to do but it just doesn't stop there. It doesn't make anyone feel better and at worst it develops into regular comfort eating or alcohol problems. I…
  • I'm the same. Really it's easy to say "go for a walk with a friend instead", but how many people do that..anyone at all? Especially at 23. I study and work part time, social time is in the evening. And that means dinner or usually, drinks. I've cut out alcohol entirely now too, as it is the only way for me. Not being very…
  • Some people seem to use the word "lucky" for everything. "You're lucky to be so slim" "You're lucky to have that job" "You're lucky to have so much savings" I agree that it's just casual conversation and that one should take a compliment but I find that the people who overuse that word are the same people who think that…
  • I have to be underweight to have skinny thighs, so everybody has their stuff :) Accept your body shape, but make the most of it. Lots of squats and butt exercises can help you get a shapelier rear.
  • The fact that you are struggling to lose weight on your waist is because of your apple shape, not your height. There are plenty of short women who are hourglasses or pear shaped and there are plenty of taller women that are apples. I'm 5"9 and simply because height is considered a masculine traits, I think shorter girls…
  • Very good post. I've never been overweight but at times when I've been struggling a bit, I've recognized that it's emotional eating. My roommate is slim and always have been, but she never diets. She can eat nuts, meat, honey, cheese and foods that are high in calories but she eats one plate, then she does the dishes and…
  • Like others have said, I think the people who are actually "mysteriously skinny" are far in between. My uncle is that way - he is in his fifties, 6"4 and super skinny, have always been. People are talking about how his metabolism is super high, but he also smokes a LOT and I think it honestly replaces quite a few of his…
  • This thing is killing me tonight. I had two gin tonics and then I attacked the chorizo in the fridge. Luckily I stopped at a few slices, but still - the damage is done. I'm trying to survive on 1200 calories - when I ate more I didn't lose. I have NO problems eating healthy in general. I grew up on a lot of seafood, well…
  • Having the same problem. Have crashed a couple of times and not only is the alcohol in itself terrible to my diet, but I get so hungry after I completely ruin my week. It's a big problem, but I'm not trying to just work it in slightly rather than going "cold turkey", i.e. eat healthy and just have a little gin/wine.
  • My aunt and uncle has had this situation..although in his case he has occasionally managed to lose weight, then it goes back up , back down, back up. Like your wife, he's quite child-like in his statements. His wife has caught him eating at 2am and his response is basically "but I want food!". He's just not willing to make…
  • After last night I have decided I definitely need to give it up for a while. After drinking I get super hungry as well, and yesterday I was probably up in 1800 cals, meaning I lost nothing. It's so hard though..anyone got tips?
  • How often do people in here get on the scale? Anyone only go once a month or so?
  • Can't stand people like that. If someone has managed to lose a lot of weight, that is great and shows persistence, but it doesn't make them more informed or smart than others who have lost weight, or people who's always been slim for that matter. Have a friend who eats keto, and believes that is the only lifestyle which is…
