  • What's the April challenge? Did I miss it somewhere?
  • Hi all! Great job with the planks, people! :drinker: :drinker: Prior to this challenge I used a stopwatch (instead of the timer) to see how long I could hold (on elbows no modifications) and made it to 90 seconds. After the challenge (which I did with modifications of straight arms and switching to side planks) I used the…
  • Day 30 - 300 seconds - done! Whew! There is NO POSSIBLE WAY I could do this straight with no variation. I hold for 1 minute, then switch to right side 15 seconds, left side 15 seconds, hold straight for 30 s and repeat. When I started this challenge I timed an on-elbows no-variation plank and made it to 90…
  • Hello all! Well, I was SUPPOSED to be on Day 29 two days ago, but have done none the last two days. Combination of work and evening meetings turned them into 2 rest days. So this morning I did Day 29 - 270 seconds!!! First one straight arm with switch-ups to side planks. Got the kids off to school then did the second on…
  • Well, the last couple of days I've switched from elbows to straight-arm, AND am only doing it once, AND I'll hold it for a minute, then switch to side-plank right for 30-40 seconds, then switch to side-plank left for 30-40 seconds, then back to start position. ANYTHING to get through it without going to my knees or…
  • My absence has been noted, eh??? So nice to be missed!! On Tuesdays (and Wednesdays) I usually don't get to these until evening, and I don't get back on the computer afterwards to post in the community. I DO put them under 'strength' on my exercise log, so you can check up on me if you view my diary!! Uh oh, maybe I…
  • I'm on day 21 and it's killing me! Yesterday evening I managed to hang in there on elbows for my first one (150 seconds) but had to drop to knees a couple of times on the 2nd. Kills my back!! Then this morning I couldn't even do one all the way through without dropping to knees a couple of times! :frown: Maybe, MAYBE…
  • Day 18 for me: 150 seconds - ACK!!!!! But, I did them. First 150 on forearms. Rested for a good 15 minutes (got kids out the door to school), then did the 2nd 150 with straight arms. I agree, both are hell. Thank goodness tomorrow is my rest day! And who came up with adding 30 seconds each time it jumps up? Shouldn't…
  • Wait - what is this???? Planks on arms is easier than on elbows??? :noway: Really??? I'm gonna' have to get OFF my elbows then, because I don't know as I can do these on elbows much more. BLAH. Not on day 6 so do not have a rest day today (on day 17). Haven't done it today yet, but when I did my 2 minutes last evening I…
  • Maybe? Not sure how well I could do them with the computer where it is. Guess I need to de-clutter my computer room!!! I'd really like a stretching/flexibility challenge. I would like more flexibility and haven't really found any kind of stretching challenge. Have never done Pilates (or yoga). Would you think it…
  • Hi all! I've started these today, but started with Day 14 (timed myself last week and made it to 90 seconds, so that's how I decided to jump in). Well, maybe I started yesterday with Day 13 (rest day) hah! This thing ending up at 5 minutes kind of scares me! :frown:
  • Yep! On this beautiful day amidst farmland you can see for miles and miles!! :flowerforyou:
  • Born in Davenport (the hospital doesn't do natal anymore, but it used to!), grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere (9 miles from Davenport, 9 miles from Reardan, 9 miles from Edwall). Went to college in Spokane then lived in Spokane for 10 years before moving back out to that good old farm in the middle of nowhere! Hi…

  • I did Day 17, and on the day itself. Just didn't get on the computer to log it!

  • Day 15 - done! And Yay for half-way there! Spitting the sit-ups, but only into 2 sets. Those 2 sets keep getting bigger, but I hope to keep it to just 2. Doing all the others in one shot, but whew! it's getting tough!
  • Did them last night - really prefer to get them over with in the mornings!

  • I did Day 13 yesterday evening - just now recording it. I prefer to get these out of the way in the mornings, but that doesn't happen on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with an hour-long commute to work (the other days I work from home). I'm splitting the situps into 2 sets, but just rest a few minutes in between. All the others I…

  • My Day 9 DONE as well! I don't know as the sit ups are getting easier. Maybe a little. But YES the leg raises are harder! And the plank, too!

  • Day 7 Done! I've been doing the situps with my arms stretched forward next to my thighs. Thought I'd try putting them behind my head. AUGH. Did 10 that way then put them forward again for the next 10. Rested a minute and did it again. Hopefully I'll be able to do more and more with my hands on my head as the month goes on.…

  • Day 6 done! I'm not going to post my 'before' pictures until I can show progress with some 'after' pictures! Great that you are already having results!

  • I'm done as well! On day 2 my tailbone was complaining about day 1. I switched to doing the sit-ups in the living room where there is a thicker carpet. Hopefully that will help. The length of the plank is getting noticeable now! Feel free to add me as a friend if you want!
  • Day 2 DONE! The first day I did the sit-ups with feet under the edge of the couch, but was worried that it was cheating. So then later in the day I did them without the foot bracing. Definitely harder to do. But I'm determined to do it that way, even if I have to break it up into sets. Hopefully by the end of the month…

  • Yep, day one done!
  • Day One done! Thanks for the other link, I'm going to check out that site. I did take before pictures but they may be just for me. I guess it depends on how dramatic the difference is by the end of the month!
  • Yes, the one in the header was too small. Found this with google and it printed fine: http://beinggemma.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/30-day-abdominal-challenge.jpg
