Adding you. I'm trying to log in every day to remind myself of my mission.

You got this. (and adding you)

When I'm at the gym I don't pay attention to anyone I don't know. Everyone is focused on themselves and maybe a gym buddy. You can't compare yourself to anyone else. For all you know they could have hidden health issues or other challenges. Just focus on yourself, you got this.

Set small goals, day by day. Do what you can, and try not to fret if you have to change goals as you go on, or you slip up one day. Diet guilt derails a lot of people. You can overcome that if you just accept that and carry on. Also, with kids that small, you can easily do baby training. Lift the baby in the air (like an…

I didn't check in when I gained weight for a bit, because it does vary a lot. If you think it will motivate you, then do it. Check in. But if you think it will derail you, then don't. I decided to recently add my gained weight, because it didn't go back down. I don't check in every week though. I weigh myself sporadically.…

Looking good!

I have fibro as well. I'm in the worst flare of my life and my medication completely skewed my metabolism. I'm with you!

I don't trust scales too much. Once a week with a scale is more than enough. You can also keep track of your inches, like on your stomach or hips, to give you an idea if you are losing. I like to do that over watching the scale, mostly because when I previously had gained weight, then lost it, I went down a pants size or…

I'm struggling with my general health. I have fibromyalgia, and I'm constantly in pain lately. The winter has been terrible, and every time I do work out, I can not (without a ton of pain) walk for two or three days after. That makes it very hard to motivate myself to keep going.

It depends on what exercise you do. I use the Runtastic Orbit, I got it because it is water proof. I have a heart problem, so I can't run, but it can track my motion while I do water aerobics. Water proof trackers are less common. Also, the Orbit does inflate your sets a bit if you are using it as a watch (comes with two…

Support is important, I added you.

I'm with you! I have fibro too! It's awful. This winter has been terrible for exercise. My medications have completely changed my metabolism, and my weight is just slowly creeping up. I'm trying to replace my sweet snacks with fruit. It's not always a complete substitute, but it seems to help. I was maintaining for a bit…

The main page will help you, you should go to goals. If it is available, select change goals. Once you put in your information (height, weight, target weight, exercise per day etc) it will give you an estimate based on your estimated metabolic rate. It will tell you how much any calories you should bring in to maintain…

We all know stress can cause weight gain, so beating yourself up won't help. But I do the same thing. I hate this method myself, but it's the only thing that works for me, take it one day at a time. I was also told a few times that if you are avoiding something, try working on it for a five minute stretch at a time. Small…

That is rough. I was just switched to Gabapentin, I'm also on an antidepressant and several others. I have to take more than 12 pills a day (some of them are multiple times). Thanks for the website I'll look into it! It doesn't help that since I started working out more, my appetite starts immediately increasing.

This is Leela, a Sheltie/Boarder Collie mix.

I have a cat named Cinnamon, she is 15. Sadly she was just diagnosed with kidney failure, and she's not doing well. I am constantly taking her to the vet.

Hello! I've liven in MD for almost 2 years now, and I currently am in the Glen Burnie/Severn area. I am trying to take an active role in my health care, and with several chronic conditions I have unfortunately gained 30 lbs in 6 months. So I'm on here (a second time) trying to get my health in order. I just enrolled at the…

5'8-5'9ish (never seem to get a clean height reading). I currently am 220s, and I'm looking to weight around 180. I was 155lbs when I was 18, and I've grown an inch since then. I have a large frame, so I'm one of those people who seem to carry it well/need a lot of muscle to move my lot-o-bones.

I used to dip my oranges, and apples in sugar. That was when I was a kid. I also used to eat highly processed meat, like spam, cured ham, and peperoni. But the sodium nitrites/nitrates give me migraines, so they did me a favor.
-
No, they change metabolism. I eat until I'm full and when I've tracked it, the calories are under what I need to maintain weight. I hadn't changed my diet, gained 30 lbs and am taking 4 meds that are known to cause weight gain.

I'm here for you! Adding.

YAY! So awesome, congrats!

You got this! Just aim for feeling healthier. I don't own a scale, because we all know muscle weights more than fat, and while I'm overweight I'm muscular too, so my lbs vs someone else that is my height drives me crazy. Once I lost two pants sizes and gained 10 lbs, so you can do this even if your numbers are in a flux.

I think this is great! I'm trying something similar. This month I want to increase the health of my heart. This is uncomfortable for me because I have a minor (non-life threatening) heart condition, so to improve my heart I need to push myself which will cause me discomfort/pain. I do plan on doing this very carefully, but…

I'm 24 and trying to lose about 20-25 lbs. Mostly aiming for my stomach to be below 40 inches.

Try a sandwich or chicken breast with a 1/2-1 lb sweet potato. Surprisingly filling and so easy. For a sweet potato I put up to 1 tsp (if it's about 1lb) of butter in it. Also, a quick way of making Asian inspired carrots is (I use frozen carrots) microwave them and add a few splashes of soy or teriyakii sauce. No water…

Well I have a fuzzy goal in mind, I want to by the time I get married, we just haven't set a date yet. So I figure I need to be ready to get my dress altered. Plus I mostly put on the weight because of a recent move (plus extra stresses). But I am hoping to get married before my birthday but we'll see what life has in…

Someone posted a pretty extensive discussion here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/931670-bmr-and-tdee-explained-for-those-needing-a-guide I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for, but good luck! :)

You know your body, so lift on top of the burn within reason. Try not to push yourself too much, but it is important to keep warming up your muscles even when they hurt like that, if you don't they won't get the proper blood flow they need to become stronger. You will build up a tolerance, over a few weeks I'm sure you'll…
