  • Thanks for sharing.... I personally found this to definately be true for easy excercise (such as walking), and raised my Mets on what is considered Moderate and what is considered Vigorous activity.
  • Since the BMF takes more factors into consideration I too notice that extra steps do not automatically result in a higher calorie burn, but then depending on my Mets, unless the other data points are also showing that I'm burning more calories, I wouldn't expect it too... basically meaning if I take a leisurely stroll I'm…
  • I personally am not looking at the steps but the overall calorie burn. The BMF uses various data points to determine calorie burn. I found if I wore it on my arm I used hardly any calories as I was stationary and my arms barely move. When I move it to my leg (and I only do this for the stationary recumbent bike) my calorie…
  • I didn't realize you could log HRM and BMF. SInce I wear my BMF the entire day (even when I workout) and have it linked to upload to MFP it accounts for everything. I'm marked as "sedentary" myself (I work an office job), and MFP allots me a certain number for calorie burn based on this. If I go over that number based on…
  • I occassionally ride my indoor recumbent bike. I find the BMF doesn't register well on my arm, so about 5-10 min before I'm going to do this activity I move it to my outer upper left calf (about and inch or so below my knee). I don't register quite as high of burn as the machine, but I find the machines often calculate too…
  • I have 2 straps (and just ordered a couple more) and I clean them as needed. Having 2 or more straps allows me to wash and let one air dry while I'm using the other. I handwash the strap with a little antibacterial hand soap and really warm water, rinse and wring out what water I can and then hang it up to air dry. On one…
  • If you're logging your activity as 1 cal burn (since the BMF will show any actual calorie burn overage) you should be fine... technically in that case you are just logging the activity for your own info. If you have the BMF linked to MFP then you should only be logging the 1 calorie burn for an activity. Curious, since MFP…
  • I had the same issue on my recumbent bike. I ended up moving the BMF to my upper left calf and it seems to log more accurately.
  • I decided to check the boards and I'm having the same issue... I get it to connect and show "Live" on my phone, and when I try to upload it just keeps trying and disconnects. Luckily I've been able to get it into Live mode and then have it log my workouts, but the main issue seems to be uploading. I have a Samsung Galaxy…
  • Remember, even if you log every morsel that goes in your mouth it isn't possible to be 100% accurate on calories consumed. The FDA allows up to 20% (yes 20%) margin of error for noted calories. So if something says it's 500 calories, it could really be 600. Add that up over multiple foods for a given day and that could…
  • Is it fully charged? Are any of the lights flashing? Sometimes I don't hear the "beeps" when it registers "on-body". It's possible you have one that's defective.
  • Hello! I am an avid TAM fan.... have been doing the Omni Meta since April. I average 3-4 workouts a week, but recently due to some respiratory illness I took a break. Will be back to it this week... I have some other TAM dvds and the rebounder and workout...What did you think of the Teen Meta? I like to have various…
  • Actually no, someone else started the "serious training" line, about 4 responses in... I'm simply referencing it. I take her workouts and advice for what they're worth.... I've seen results and this is from someone who's done Body For Life, Chalean Extreme, and other programs in the past (if you're gonna respond to me,…
  • I struggle with it too. For me to get my workout in requires getting up around 4:15am. I have stretches where I do great, others not so much... I struggle getting enough sleep and if I'm really sleepy it's so hard to get out of bed!! What helps me... - As numerous people have said, just "do it"! Commit to a full week and…
  • I whole heartedly agree... I've seen amazing toning which I've not had before doing any other program. I just use MFP to track... I think she has some good tips/recipes with her diet plans, but cals are quite low.
  • WARNING: What they say about the forums is true! If you do anything other than heavy lifting, crossfit, running, etc. than you'll have a plethora of individuals who will knock your workout, even though they haven't done it themselves. I didn't poo-poo on anyone else's workout, but for some, if you aren't doing "their"…
  • If you can't be bothered then way respond?? "Serious Training"? Do her cardio mat workout and cardio workout and do all the reps with perfect form and then we can chat....until then....
  • I'm wondering how many of these individuals have done the Tracy Method and for how long... I myself have done her Metamorphosis workouts for months. I usually don't get in the recommended 6 workouts a week, but coupled with MFP I've so far lost 25lbs and my body comp has changed... I'm getting quite toned and really like…
  • Uh, yum! I was planning on making some brownies with pumpkin, but now I might make both! Thanks for sharing!
  • It could be a variation of things... If you feel you bloated practically overnight possibly something didn't agree with you? Also things like eating fruit after protein, any sort of lactose intolerance, hidden salt, TOM, etc. can cause bloating... Perhaps instead of just upping the calories, why not try calorie cycling?…
  • Calorie input (MFP) nor calorie expenditure (BMF) is 100% accurate. Having said this, a 500 calorie deficit could actually be more like a 200-300 cal deficit in reality. If you were losing at 1600-1800 cals, I'd set your calorie intake goal at 1700 or 1800 and go from there. I personally aim for 700-1000 calorie deficit to…
  • I too generally only take mine off once every couple days to charge... either while I'm showering or watching tv... Since it calculates your "average burn" while off body, I think if you didn't wear it while sleeping your numbers would be off since it won't know that your "sleeping" and not be reading your actual calorie…

  • If you are working out that much and are as active as you state then 1200-1500 calories seems quite low... I would up your calories a bit (add more lean protein and veggies) to help support/boost your metabolism. I myself was hitting some ruts - and I think it was because I was eating the same number of calories every day.…
  • I've noticed when there are updates to MFP (or BMF) that I have to unlink and relink... I think it's just a required part with the improvements to the systems. I have noticed though that more and more often I have to do a manual sync on MFP to see the excercise cals from my BMF...
  • I have Rockin Body from Shaun T. It's nice because it is choreographed dance moves with workouts with various time commitments. I really like the 25min workout and I get a great burn. I've read numerous good reviews on her original Dance Cardio DVD... I thought about getting that. I will do her DC sometimes, but I like to…
  • Using your own music is key... I just play her voice sometimes for cues, or a just dinner the volume all the way down and play my own playlist. I enjoy it so much more. Good shoes are key... a couple people have recommended different shoes for good support/stability. You can see in Tracy's videos she is often wearing the…
  • Great info... Thanks for sharing!
  • Yes, TOM can affect your results, as well as too much sodium or carbs (anything that causes bloating)... Are you logging all your calories every day as accurately as possible? Well as stated, BMF is around 90% accurate. Calories for food are also not 'exact' and something that shows it's a 100 calories can in fact be a bit…
  • So many great ideas posted! - mix with a bit of teriyaki sauce, coleslaw and chopped green onion - light mayo/miracle whip with relish (all different types of relishes out there, not just pickle relish) - A bit of whipped cream cheese and sweet chili sauce (this is great with crab too)
