  • Thanks It has been really weird. Growing up I never had a weight issue. I was never one to enjoy eating so I "ate to live" (everyone accused me of being anorexic even though I was a healthy weight). Then I started pain meds and I started to put on some weight. Then I had half my thyroid taken out and WOW 15 lbs in a year!!…
  • Weight is just a number. Your goal of being healthy is more important than and number on a scale. You are clearly getting fit if you are gaining muscle. Michelle
  • ok I am a bit older than 21. I have a daughter your age and I will tell you what I have told her 1) taking a break and breaking up are basically the same thing 2) on and off again relations don't typically work long term, maybe he is gay and trying to convince himself otherwise, Maybe he is emotionally immature. The list…
  • Thanks I am learning how to do that but at the moment the only two things I really do is cottage pie and lasagna. I try to make the lasagna healthier but having pureed veggies in the sauce. I want to make clear that he takes responsibility for being overweight. He tells me it is his fault not mine. Neither one of us was…
  • Due to renal issues and being hypertensive he is on a sodium restricted diet. I am actually afraid he is not getting enough calories. He eats a lot and I am going to the grocery store and getting more lean protein.
  • I was just getting ready to make breakfast burritos tomorrow! I do have a question. What the heck is Sriracha? Is it a pepper? I have heard of it but never really saw anything. I am trying to make healthier to go breakfasts for hubby. Michelle
  • I would like to know this too. My son is 15 almost 16 and is so thin he is almost transparent. He bowls and needs some more muscle. He has been doing some resistance training. He never stops moving and I am sure he is not eating enough even though he seems to eat non stop. He is on a somewhat restricted diet (low sodium)…
  • I am in the same boat! I have decided to hide the veggies in stuff. But I do think it is important to TRY and change taste. It will take awhile but I am hoping after a few months I will grow to like or at least not mind veggies. I do like them better roasted. I did add a very small amount of cheese.
  • A REALLY happy pizza has a lot more cheese!
  • In moderation (of course) they are fine. Homemade is better. A friend makes AWESOME pizza dough! Of course she makes her own sauce from her own tomatoes. But ready made is not bad. I would stay away from extra cheese. Sadly for me that is what makes pizza pizza. Enjoy.
  • 1500 is really hard I had to do it for YEARS with my daughter. She was only 2 so it was not awful but trying to do if for myself not so much. Almost any recipe can be adapted. You can get no salt added tomato sauce but it is a few cents more. Not that big of a deal just a pet peeve of mine. Instead of canned beans use dry…
  • And some people would be so polite if they would just not open their mouths. I have not had that comment but some extremely rude comments.
  • I would thing it is true provided that you made it at home. One slice of some of the major take out here have more than a day supply of sodium. I know that most people do not have to worry about it but as a mom of a renal kid we do. And I feel like people in general get WAY too much of the stuff.
  • My mother had her first of at least 3 heart attacks at age 33. I am 42. I am not terribly overweight just about technically about 10lb although I would like to lose about 20. I do worry about going down that path so I am nipping it in the bud now. Michelle
  • I am not sure you can easily kill the craving to eat. I think it comes from redirecting yourself. I wish I had the answer. the only time I really had a strong urge to eat was when I was pregnant. But I see my family struggle and they have been doing better. Hubby use to eat EVERY DAY after supper. I kept asking him to stop…
  • I know people who do this and LOVE it. I think that you can get more from stores like Aldi's but there pro's and con's to both. I have done it a couple times and was happy and it was quick and easy (ordered on line) aand one stop.
  • You just had a baby if you are breastfeeding you can not eat like you would otherwise. Your body needs more calories and in theory should be eating a more balanced diet (although that has been argued) . If not then someone mentioned thehillbillyhousewife website. Dry beans are really cheap, fill you up, and are very…
  • How often do you guys shop? And do you keep your greens fresh? I am tired of throwing food away because it goes bad so quickly. Any ideas? I have a food saver but never thought of using it for veggies.
  • And if you keep eating that unhealthy stuff you will not keep the weight off. Your body needs healthy foods. You are right though the fact that I was thin most of my life because of healthy eating habits means I know nothing. I have seen this same argument since I was a child and saw my mother say the same things. She lost…
  • You can go one of two ways. Cold turkey. I have never been able to do that. Or like I did slowly cut it down. I have not cut it out completely but try to stick to one can a day. Sometimes I splurge and have two.
  • '' I am NOT a clean eater FAR from it. But I know simple facts. Unless you have a medical disorder you will not be fat eating healthy foods. Sure some vegetarians eat crap. I know a couple people who are vegan and can't figure out why they are over weight....well. that bag of oreo's you eat a day MAY be a problem. Just eat…
  • Today? I have not killed our new dog! he is 10 months old and keeps chasing our 6 year old cat. I have not had a dog this young in a VERY long time. He does know some commands but still does not listen well. So I am proud I haven't killed him yet. :)
  • I was the same way so is my kid in college. Have you tried regular old popped pop corn? My daughter puts some olive oil on it instead of butter. You can try and sprinkle some truvia on it is a low cal snack and a good study snack! Michelle
  • I think the problem of eating after 7 is not that it magically put weight on but the reasons you are eating. Are you eating out of boredom? or habit. If you had a nice healthy dinner and you are hungry at 7 or 8 I would eat a fruit or a small bowl of veggies. IF you are working late and do not get home until 8 of course…
  • Pringles potato chips.
  • But don't they taste like veggies? I know I had one with orange juice, spinach and some other fruits and it was OK. But none that was mostly veggies.
  • French fries are one of the few foods I do enjoy eating. Potatoes DO have nutritional value especially where potassium is concerned. I see the snarky responses that frying foods somehow make them unhealthy. Maybe yes maybe no but you are adding a lot of very unhealthy stuff that you do not need. Bake the fries wit the…
  • I agree! I never deprive myself. But I eat unhealthy foods in moderation. I am lucky though I do not like sweets including chocolate so I know that makes it easier. I do like Chips but the only kind I will really eat just to eat is pringles so I just don't get them unless I am sick. An small square of Dark Chocolate is…
  • I am tired of having to save up energy! I need to make dinner so I can't do X. I have to take the kids to their bowling league so I will have to grab something for supper because I can't do both. Someone was describing fibromialgia and the spoon theory and I thought OH MY GOD that is how I feel. That I only have so much…
  • I have spoken to someone. I have not had a head MRI in years and that could be a cause. But since my headaches have not increased no one wants to do much. I am changing doctors to see if they woudl be willing to do an MRI. A tumor in my nose or brain could cause issues. I was told the Vicodin use long term can mess with…
