Most of the people responding in this thread have been on this site for years, have reached their goals and know what they're talking about. Telling someone that they're doing something unnecessary/potentially dangerous is helping. Turning a blind eye to bizarre diet trends and just going "Yeah, that no fat, no carb, all…

Here we go again. Apparently you can burn 2400 calories an hour doing Insanity. Also don't use oil and use olive oil. ...wait...

Haha that's exactly what I was thinking too! If you use those pods, Sailor Moon will punish you!

OP, you're not going to magically drop a ton of weight in 5 weeks. Just enjoy your weekend.
-
I was eating a donut every morning for breakfast for a few weeks while still maintaining my deficit. I lost weight. You'll be fine.

Oh man, this is just like when people ask if rice and potatoes have gluten in them. They don't even know what foods they're trying to be scared of.

I like what John Pinette said about it: "People have gone low-carb hysterical. They see you eating a piece of bread and like they're like 'Wha-WHAT?' If they were so bad, I'd have been dead 10 years ago!" Carbs just tend to be high in calories. Since I've started logging with MFP, I notice that I'm usually under for carbs…

I seem to recall the OP starting a topic about a month ago where she was doing (or wanting to start) essentially a crash diet - working out way too much and eating way too little. She didn't want to take anyone's advice then either. You don't NEED to lose 76 lbs before going to college. What's wrong with losing at a…

Oh thank the Good Dude. I was wondering if I was the only one who read the word 'toxins' all drawn out and hissy in my mind during these discussions. Good to know I'm not alone

I absolutely love anime, manga and Japanese culture in general, to the point that I'm semi-fluent in Japanese (self-taught!) Not sure if these count, but I'm also a big fan of heavy metal, and am a horror movie junkie. Methinks that there are lots of geeky/nerdy people on MFP - just another reason to love this site.

Seriously, this thread makes my brain hurt.

Keep them somewhere where it's a pain in the butt to get them. Personally I keep my leftover Halloween candy (yes, I still have some) either above the fridge where I have to use tongs to grab them, or upstairs. When I want some candy, I take out my two pieces, and then put the rest away. The second part is to take your…

This would be me after attempting a water diet.
-
This is my idea of a water diet: Seriously though, this water diet sounds like a terrible idea. Just log your calories, keep yourself in a deficit and move more. It doesn't have to be so complicated.
-
OMG, you guys are so mean! MFP is supposed to support people, no matter how bad their ideas may be! You're all bullies! ...just kidding. Keep the gifs coming!

You win. That is gold, Jerry, gold!

Well, they do seem to have a better understanding of science and nutrition than you do. As an added bonus, they can also string together a coherent sentence.

He should have a Coke, it would make him feel better.

I wandered in here because generally any topics that are written in all caps are sure to be hilarious. Thanks for the early morning laugh. Mmmm, Coke.

Don't be so quick to blame sugar. You're on Day 2 - most likely you're simply adjusting to eating less food. When I first started, I was pretty hungry because I was eating smaller portions. Now I sometimes am unable to finish my meal, or realize that it's 9:00, I haven't had dinner and I'm not hungry. I also usually have a…

Jumping in on this topic (don't want to clutter up the boards starting a new one). Would you recommend the Strong Lifts 5x5 for a complete beginner to weight training? I was thinking of starting out with weight machines as I'm completely clueless when it comes to strength training, but if SL 5x5 is suitable for beginners,…

Decide beforehand what treat you want to eat, and then plan ahead for it. Get some exercise in, or eat lighter during the day to make room for it. I love junk food and always make an allowance for it. As for quiet exercises that don't need much room, you can do planks, squats, lunges, push ups, or crunches. If you're able…

Slayer. Oh, Slayer.

I reach for the chocolate. Every time. If you're not eating huge amounts, it's not a big deal. A 1/2 cup of chocolate icecream is under 150 calories, or two Oreos for 110, or, if you've accumulated a huge stash of Halloween candy like me, a mini chocolate bar is around 50-80 calories. I believe Fudgesicles and Revellos are…
