  • So...here's the thing. Both the banana and chocolate smoothie bar have their day in court, so to speak, and I think a lot of people fall into a trap of labeling foods as 'bad' or even 'unhealthy' and try to avoid them entirely when this isn't necessary. I do the same thing sometimes, I'll eat 2 small pieces of chocolate…
  • 36 here (UGH), and never believed that "things slow down after 35" until I got there myself.
  • Last night I roasted and mashed one, tonight I'm using it to make a recipe from Skinnytaste to make it into a creamy pasta sauce. Her recipe includes chicken sausage, but you could easily make it without for vegetarian.
  • Yes I agree, 5 points is a lot and does feel like a punishment. Things with carbs, fats, sugar, etc all get higher points than I think it's really 'fair', so saying that nothing is off limits isn't completely true in my opinion. Yes, you can have avocado toast, a cookie and some pasta... But not on the same day lol. Also,…
  • Not necessarily anti-fat, or anti anything really, but the points do seem excessive on some things. Like you're being punished if you eat chicken thighs vs chicken breasts lol
  • Years ago I did WW, back before smart phones and apps. My points calculator was the cardboard sliding thing, you wrote all your meals down on a little flip card thing, you went to meetings once a week and looked things like apples and chicken up in books you had to buy (I didn't have them, which meant I was afraid to eat…
  • Great job, keep it up! :)
  • Ha, I'm 36 but some days I feel like I'm at least 86
  • Ehh, my husband belongs to the same gym as me and sometimes he joins me and other times he doesn't. He will often buy junk food to bring home, sometimes he will surprise me with cookies or candy that he knows I like but I know it's not because he's trying to derail me...he's just trying to be nice and not realizing how…
  • I must fall into this category too! Don't get me wrong, I like all kinds of so-called 'clean' foods but I pretty much eat whatever appeals to me at that moment. Tonight I'm making stroganoff in my Instant Pot with minimal nutritional value but it's freezing cold out and I don't care. I'll still be within my calories!
  • Feel free to add me too :)
  • I quit 3 different times before I gave it up for good on my 4th try. It'll be 2 years at the end of this month since my last cigarette and honestly there are some days that I forget that I was a smoker for so long! It SUCKED in the beginning, especially when I was around other smokers, but now I don't even have cravings…
  • Drink at least 8 oz of water and wait a few minutes. If I feel that way, usually I'm not hungry as much as I'm just bored / thinking about something delicious that I know is in the kitchen. Usually this helps, as I'll get distracted and forget all about it. If I don't and I'm actually feeling hungry, I'll go for something…
  • Haha wow...
  • I know it's been said, but I just really do not understand why some people think it's OK to send sexy messages to complete strangers. Honestly, how often could that possibly have worked for it to become a thing??
  • Binge, something fierce. Binge eat, binge Netflix, binge naps...and after even just 1 or 2 days of it I find it so much harder to get back into normal and healthy eating, exercising, moving more and sitting less, and going to the gym. It's a vicious cycle that is so easy to get into and so difficult to get out of!
  • I've been on and off of here for a while, looking for current 'friends' to keep up with!
  • The thing about PCOS is that it (sometimes) messes with your metabolism, insulin, etc. CICO still applies, but like others have said the calculations may be off. Your BMR could be off by as much as 400 calories a day, so if MFP has you eating 1600 you *could* be burning only 1200. Play around with your calories and see…
  • I feel very guilty for being in the US and being the only one here who doesn't love Oreos! They're everywhere, and people mix them into anything and everything and it's all so disgusting haha.
  • Not really a tip, but I save calories for a sweet treat after dinner. Usually it's a small pudding cup (sugar free, I know I know) and it calms my craving. I typically crave sweets all the time, but during the day I can drink water and have a piece of fruit and be fine knowing I get my little treat later on.
  • Depending on which Fitbit you have, it can track exercises (I have the Charge 2, so I begin a specific exercise with the button. Or it will pick up on activity over 10 minutes). The Fitbit site (not the app) will tell you how many calories you burned for that exercise, and you can log them on MFP separately. It'll adjust…
  • I used the Misfit Flash (the cheaper model, similar to the Shine) and I really loved it! It was really accurate for the price, I felt at least, and the sleep tracking was far more accurate than the tracker I have now actually. I definitely recommend it, especially for a beginner who may not know what they're looking for…
  • I wipe down every part of every machine / weight I touch. I don't bother to do it before, even though I have seen so many people sweat all over something and then just walk away, but I always do after. Always.
  • PF is dirt cheap, to be blunt, compared to any other gym in my area too. I know that it's the laughing stock of the fitness community, but honestly if 1 piece of pizza and/or 1 bagel a month are going to totally derail your health you have more issues than what gym you've joined. As for the candy, a Tootsie Roll has less…
  • Another vote for Garmin, I had a Fitbit Blaze for all of 24 hours before returning it, I've had my Vivosmart HR for about a month or so now and still love it. From talking with friends who have a Fitbit (any Fitbit), my Garmin seems to be much more strict about counting steps, move reminders, etc. It certainly doesn't give…
  • 3,000 steps isn't going to burn 290 calories...so chances are the lower burn for 8,000 steps is more accurate.
  • YES, I feel like I am starving around that time. It is most definitely a hormonal thing, and judging from the posts here it affects some of us more than others. I don't have specific cravings, I just constantly feel hungry no matter what I've eaten or how much water I've had. I just try to eat a ton of low calorie veggies,…
  • Do you track your activity with your Garmin by using the active mode feature when you work out? My Garmin only enters calories on MFP when I do that, I could walk 20,000 steps and get no calorie adjustment lol. I let the Garmin adjust my workout calories this way and then I don't add any exercise in MFP. I find MFP…
  • I do not, but I try not to touch any exercise calories if I can help it. I keep track of my steps because I like to see if I can one up myself, but I don't consider daily steps exercise.
  • That's a major bummer since I assumed I could wear mine swimming once the warm weather hits.
