  • You may not see immediate results but stick with it. The first day, I didn't see resuls until the afternoon. The next couple of days, I had results within a few hours. You still need to eat enough fiber during the day, drink enough water and excercise. Post results!
  • A few days ago I heard that drinking about 16 oz of luke warm water or more, on an empty stomach in the morning helps aid digestion, especially constipation. Although I drink plenty of water during the day as well as eat lots of fiber, I still need other aids like fiber & other supplements, prunes etc. to get me going. I…
  • When I did Atkins a few years ago I got very constipated b/c there is simply not enough fiber in the diet. Being constipated or not eliminating frequently enough causes you to be bloated and thus more weight on the scale. You can eat some fruit and veggies on Atkins but the choices are very limited if you want to keep your…
  • I also just got a Polar F6 and the "manual" that comes with is just a Getting Started pamplet with limited info. I got the full manual by Googling "Polar F6 manual". It's a PDF file which I saved to my computer and printed. It's about 50 pages.
  • Have you been to the doctor? They need to run some blood tests on you. Especially hypothyroid. Sounds like something physical is sabotaging your efforts.
  • I did not believe that a salad could be 1000 calories so I went to their website to check. Sure enough - it's 1000 calories. 330 or so is from the bread and 440 is from the dressing! What on earth do they put in it?? btw - they do have a link on the upper right hand side called WATCHING CALORIES that lists some lower…
  • Becky - 1.5 pounds in 10 days sounds about right. The recommended is 1 pound per week. I don't have any experience with this drug but I'd imagine, as others have posted, you need to be very careful when you get off of it. When your appetite returns, it will be hard to control your eating especially if you got used to…
  • Everyone here claims you must be in starvation mode if you didn't loose or you gained a little. You don't do into starvation mode after one day of under eating! I don't know the exact science behind it but I'd say you'd have to under eat consistently for a while until you hit a plateau. Everyone knows that if they are sick…
  • If you are talking about the "cappuccino" in the machines, those are loaded with sugar and high fat milk (powder I think). Why can't you get a real capuccino from a coffee shop and ask them to make it with low fat milk and add sweetner. That's what I do and I count it as about 1 cup of milk.
  • thanks for all your replies!
  • For those who excercise early in the morning, do you eat a little something b/f you start? Seems unhealthy to me to excercise on an empty stomach when you haven't eaten all night but on the other hand, it's hard to excercise right after eating.
  • I've been making this for years after eating it at a friend's house. She made it with cabbage, roasted almonds and chinese noodles and tons of sugar in the dressing. I've adapted it to be diet friendly. 1 bag chopped cabbage for coleslaw (you can buy in most produce sections) 2 green onions chopped cranberries (optional -…
  • I made this in the ovening using a whole chicken cut up and skinned. I had to take out the breasts early otherwise they would have overcooked. At that stage the sauce hadn't really thickened and hadn't stuck to the breasts but they were good anyhow. I found I needed to sprinkle with paprika part way through to give more…
  • There is a big difference. The fruit will give you much more quantity of food then the chips. How many chips can you have for 100 calories? Probably not too many but you can have 275 grams of honeydew melon for 100 calories. That is a lot more food and it will therefore fill you up much more. If you are going to eat fast…
  • Anyone have a recipe for tofu cheesecake? I've found some on the internet but want one that someone can tell me is good!
  • I'm kinda new to this show. My interest was peaked from all the posts about it so I went to the site to poke around. I watched this video of the trainer explaining the concept of calorie counting, metabolism and excercise. http://www.nbc.com/The_Biggest_Loser/video/clips/week-1-jillians-facts/661745/ Some questions I have:…
  • Polar name is supposed to be under my left breast??? :noway: I had the name smack in the middle of my chest and I'm pretty sure that's what the picture in the manual looks like.
  • Actually, I thought of that. My bra isn't underwire but it does up in the front center and the clasp is metal. The transmitter was positioned directly below it.
  • thanks for the "under" explanation. I guess everyone's shape is different. I think that when it's sitting below my bra, it's on top of that bone at the top of your ribs - can't remember it's proper name). I guess underneath my bra is closer to my heart.
  • when you gals say "under" your bra do you mean "underneath" i.e. "your bra is underneath your shirt" or do you mean "below", i.e "your pants are below your shirt."
  • transmitter was properly dampned. I'm pretty sure the problem was due to the position.
  • I just got a Polar F6 HRM. I was very excited to try it out today so I put it on according to the instructions and went for a walk/jog. However, it didn't seem to consistantly monitor my heart rate. I would start to run and it would stay at the same heart rate for a minute or so b/f changing. If I stopped runnig but kept…
  • I've been trying to walk instead of taking the car when I do errands close by. If I walk to the store (5 min each way), walk to a teacher's meeting (8 mins. each way etc.) walk to the mailbox (4 mins each way) etc., I accumulate a total of 30 minutes of walking or more a day, albeit in small spurts. I read somewhere (I…
  • I switched to instant coffee a number of years ago. Taster's Choice is the best. I find it hard to drink regular coffee now as it is too strong and too bitter. I had a Starbucks a couple of months ago and felt nauseaus drinking it. When you use instant it's easier to get by on less cream. I drink mine with 1/4 c 1% milk…
  • The best part of this recipe is that it sounds easy. I don't make anything with more than 3-4 ingredients! Can you make it in the oven? That would make it even simpler.
  • I'm not suggesting a way to cut down your daily calorie requirements. I am just suggesting how to feel full on fewer calories so you don't go over what you require for the day and so you feel satisfied with what you're eating and not deprived.
  • In one of those posts that keeps getting bumped up for newbies, it mentions that it takes about 25 minutes for your brain to signal to your stomach that you are full. The suggestion in the article is to eat half your meal, drink some water, wait about 20 min. and see if you are still hungry. Most of the time you won't be…
  • All fruits and veg (raw is better then cooked for most) whole wheat and whole grains (brown rice, bulgar, quinoa etc.) legumes (beans, lentils etc) low fat dairy lean cuts of poultry and meat lots of water Most of these things fill you up more then their unhealthy alternatives. You can eat more for the same calories.…
  • Just came across this and thought it looked like a good resource. There are tons of fat-free recipes listed. If you make one and it comes out good, let us know. I tried the Oatmeal Apple sauce raisin cookies and they weren't so great. I baked them in a square instead of making cookies. They'd probably be ok cut up in…
  • I had an apple in the fridge that was a bit too soft for me but I didn't want to waste it so I nuked it chopped up into small pieces with a little water, cinnamon and a Tbsp of dry oatmeal. I sprayed the top with Pam. When it was ready (@ 3 min on high) I sprinkled with sweetner. It was very good and got me thinking about…
