So I found a Fluidity system cheap on Craigslist, and am dying to try it. Anyone else?

Quick reply: I was down for about 4 days, but it took about a year to get the eating situated. I can't eat anything with grease or I get sick. Tomatoes and dairy set me off in the beginning, and anything spicy is out. I also can't eat bananas now (weird). And get ready for what my husband refers to as the "chump and dump"…

Is it all at once? Or more than normal? If it's just walking around the office and around at home, I generally don't take into account the "normal daily activity" stuff.

Funny, I had just posted a topic before I saw this one. I'm not able to do a tone of lifting right now, and need to get my back in shape, and was seriously looking into some barre workouts. I loved some of what I saw through a fluidity workout (?) but not sure I wanna drop the bucks for something like that. I've heard a…

Kettlebells are an amazing way to get cardio and muscle in all at once. A good Kettlebell routine will not only pack on the muscle, but get your heart rate going. However, before you add it into your routine, PLEASE find someone qualified to teach you (no, Jillian Michaels does NOT count); bad KB form is so much more…

My answers: Yes, carefully, and maybe. :) Seriously though, you're going to have to be careful with that injury. I'd take it easy on the rotator cuff and see if there are alternate exercises (possibly more back strengthening) that you could do until your injury heals.

Agreed! Personally I think the protein number is way too low. It is generally accepted that for every pound of ideal weight (i.e. for my build and 5'4", I figure 165), you should have roughly 1 gram of protein. So contrary to the MFP settings, I shoot for 160+ grams of protein a day. If most of that is coming from lean…

I've come to the realization that it's not about "how much", it's about "how". I actually started on the flip side (5'4", 230) with a lot to lose, and always felt a little angry and even intimidated by those who had less to lose. I have a girlfriend who is my height but is was at 130 and wanted to lose 10lbs. I never…

I've tried a few, and my preference is Biotest. All of their flavors are fantastic - chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and banana cream (remember those yellow popsicles with ice cream inside?), they blend VERY well - the texture is spot on. They are also ridiculously filling, which to me is a BIG deal! I usually had one for…

I felt this way when I first started working out, in great part because I felt like I couldn't get my big body to move the way it was supposed to, or bend/lift the way it was supposed to. It helped to find something I felt good about doing; it motivated me to find something I could do well. Have you tried just a simple…

I got my first tattoo at 16... and I've been getting them ever since. I LOVE ink! I have 6, and have plans for at least 3 more. Mine are all coverable; I teach preschool and most parents there don't even know about them. Each one means something deeply personal to me - even the first, which I got to commemorate my best…

Generally, you'd want ground flaxseed, and it can usually be found in the baking section. It comes in a bag like flour or sugar. Flaxseed is very high in Omega-3 (the good fat), fiber, and lignan (an antioxidant). I take a serving daily, usually blended in a shake. The texture is a little different, but the benefits are…

Your "diary" is your food log, and sometimes people will ask to see it to help give you meal advice. If you're comfortable allowing that, you can go to My Home, then to Settings, and about half way down the page is your Diary Settings. You can choose to make it public, or just show your friends, or keep it to yourself.…

First - TOTALLY doable goal! Cut out the processed foods this week - anything with white flour or sugar. Up your lean protein to replace those carbs, and try and workout at LEAST three days a week. It WILL come off! :) Good luck girl!

It's only a binge, just a binge. My trainer allows a 10% cheat every week. Now, that's not necessarily a binge, but it means that for four meals a week (I eat 5-6 times a day), I get to add a little something. And you know what? I've lost 30 pounds in 3 months. One binge is TOTALLY recoverable. So don't use it as a cop…

Oh, and take your measurements! It won't be the greatest moment of your life, but it's a better indicator of weight loss than the scale itself. :)

Okay, so I'm not a male and I'm under 40.... but I CAN say that yes, this does work. Unfortunately, for those of us plus size peoples, it DOES take some time. The fact that you're feeling better and eating better is a GREAT start, and you should feel happy that you're already seeing a change. I realize it's been two weeks,…

I eat every 2-3 hours. It really helps my metabolism and energy levels, and then I don't have to worry about overeating at any one meal.

Go flaunt it! You earned the right to show yourself off, and it sounds like you're owning that work, which is a BIG step. Confidence can often be intimidating, and maybe that's what happened to your friend. She's probably watched you go from wall-flower to full-bloomed, and that can be hard for a friend (especially if…

While the quality of your sugar is important (fruit is definitely better than, say, ho-hos), sugar is sugar. Yes, you can have some. Try to aim for having it at the right TIME. If you're going to binge on strawberries, do it after you workout when your body needs that carb replacement. If you are craving watermelon, take a…

Wow. Little harsh. Just trying to help here. I obviously have not read as much material as you.

donna - while I am NOT a nutritionist, the general rule is half to a full gram of protein per pound of your ideal body weight. Example: I'm 5'4, figuring my ideal weight at about 160 (I am very broad). So I generally shoot for a MINIMUM of 80g of protein a day. I generally try to stay under HALF of that in grams of carbs,…

I do Paleo! In fact, I am finishing up my third month of it. I love it! The recipes are fabulous and easy. Depending on how your diet was before, you can see some amazing results - I've lost nearly 30 lbs in 2 1/2 months. However, I am not a runner, so I'm not sure about the marathon training. I CAN say if you're going to…

It's annoying to hear (and to say) but "first on, last off." The stomach fat WILL come off... just not as quickly. And while ab work is fantastic for you, for your core, and for your overall health, you won't SEE those results until the fat dissipates. Don't worry - the muscle is in there. It's just slowly coming out of…

Say "Oh, thanks so much. I've been working really hard." If someone goes out of their way to pay you a compliment, you should go out of your way to be gracious. While I understand that, as a group, we women are not great at taking a compliment, we we need to understand that it IS, in fact, someone positively noticing a…

Without seeing your diary - and exactly how much fruit and milk you're eating - it's hard to say. Have you considered sweeter veggies? Carrots, peas?

Rosieflo is spot on. Eat protein after a hard workout as this will help replace the amino acids you lose in your muscles during a workout and help them repair faster. Carbs (the healthy, non-processed kind) eaten within 15 minutes of working out will help replace the glycogen in your muscles as well. And yes, water water…

First of all - congrats to you to getting out and making the commitment. Second - do NOT drop your calories. While I realize it seems logical that to lose weight you need to cut calories, this isn't always the case! While I don't necessarily agree with all of the numbers set forth by this site (and understanding that my…
