Hi! I went through almost the same thing -- I quit my job, because a full-time student and gained 25+ pounds within a few months. None of my clothes fit anymore, I felt gross and I was so disappointed in myself. Around the end of August, I decided to finally do something about it. First, I started off walking for a half…

Welcome!! :) I'm a grad student, moving into medical school territory. I've lost 34lbs in 3 months and in more shape than I ever have been in my life. You've been added... Good luck!!

Listen... We may not be in our 20's anymore (I'm 31), but that doesn't mean we're more fit than a 25 year old. I've been running at least 4x's a week for 3 miles, have lost 34lbs. in 3 months and can actually touch my toes... My 25 year old cousin? She probably couldn't run across the parking lot.

It's hard to have an unsupportive family, but please don't let it deter your goals! My parents eat SO VERY unhealthy. They pick on me for the foods I eat (no bread, no sugar). They pick on me when I use exercise DVDs. At first, when I would go visit my parents (I live alone), my dad would buy my favorite junk food. My mom…

Don't go crazy over the calories. Maybe your workouts/exercise aren't as challenging as they should be, and that's why you aren't seeing results. Instead of paying so much attention to calories, pay attention to that heart rate! Higher heart rate = higher calories burned.

I honestly didn't think I'd lose as much weight as I have. I dieted and exercised before, but didn't really get the results I was hoping for. But I've lost 26lbs and I'm almost at my goal. I noticed that my weight started to really go down when I was 1-2 months into it. If I start to feel as if I'm not losing 1-2lbs a week…

If you really want to dance, go sign up for pole dance lessons. It's the best exercise, and get some training. When you become a dancer, you get one audition. Probably should know how to actually dance.

Have you heard of "Ballet Beautiful"? The woman who makes the DVDs is the trainer for the Victoria Secret Angels.

I am currently 154lbs, down from 175lbs. I ballooned up because of medication (steroids) and hospitalization. Anyway, I've lost 5" off of my waist so far. My waist is at 30", hips at 36".

I gave the 200 calories example because that's the example Shape used -- sorry! I can't say exactly how many calories I burn for a run, because they are different on any given day. Let's say I go for a run for an hour; I will run, do a brisk walk for no more than 10 minutes, then continue to run again. But yes, I'm burning…

I'm asking because I read an article on Shape where the writer said if you run and burn, say 200, calories... it's the same thing as just *not* eating 200 calories. And that if you're looking to get in shape, and healthy, you're better off doing other exercises. It really bummed me out. I just want to say that 2 months…

Good luck!! I've been on Tecfidera for a month now. The only side effect I had was flushing (and that was only for about a week or two). BIG CHANGE from being on my death bed every time I did my Avonex shot. ugh

>>Do you think you might have an eating disorder? This can cause you to see yourself as fat when you're not. There have been studies that show Body Dysmorphic Disorder and anorexia (or other EDs) may have some things in common, but BDD doesn't equal an eating disorder. BDD is just suffering from a negative body image of…

Curious about what other people say about it.... I've been meaning to buy it (it's in my Amazon wish list) because I'm aiming to run a marathon in a few months.
-
Men do it, too. There are definitely slutty men out there.
-
...Run a marathon

I like making friends, even though I'm new and don't have that many :/ And it's soooo much easier keeping a diary for your nutrition and exercise.

Try not to pay attention so much to calories and fat, but what you put *into* your body (sugar, carbs, etc..) The only sugars I try my best to put into my body is from fruit. My problem areas where the thighs and belly, too. And when I tried my best to control my sugar intake, the belly went down.

Thanks so much, guys!! :)

I've always been partial to running to heavy metal. I guess it's easy to say that it's pretty motivating :)

Tip: Buy on eBay!! I LOVE Gap jeans -- they fit my body type perfectly, especially the jeggings. Gap jeans are like, $60... on eBay, I can get them for $25 brand new. Usually I'll try on clothes in a store, then go find it on eBay for cheaper. And congrats!!

CLEAN!! It's unbelievable how many calories you can burn by doing some hardcore cleaning, especially if you enjoy yourself and dance a little with the vacuum :)

When I first started working out, I HATED it. But now I love to see how much I can push myself, how many miles I can go or going for longer. The days where I don't work out, I feel like something is missing. Cardio is such an extra push for me!
-
Nice! I started at 3.0, too. Now I'm at 6.5 and it feels comfortable. Now It's getting fun to see how far I can push each week :)

Get your heart rate up!! I'm at 1200 calories a day, but I try to eat as little carbs as possibly can. And NO salt. I have arthritis in my right knee from dancing. However, as I slowly turned up the intensity on my treadmill, I noticed my knee didn't hurt as much as it used to. I also do a lot of stretching. The walking…

So far, I've lost 10lbs in 3 weeks. I used to have such problems losing weight, no matter how much I though I was exercising and dieting enough. Log EVERYTHING you eat. Go back into your log and try to figure out what's adding unnecessary calories, fat, or sugar to your diet. Also, when you're exercising, keep an eye on…
