I signed up because that's the only way to see the food database. I stay because it gives me some place else to stalk other than Tumblr.

For me, it was an alternative to Weight watchers and it was free. Plus, i liked the fact that i could track more than just points/calories. Now i am tracking my macros. I am almost at 400 days of logging and i plan to keep going. I have lost 106 pounds so far. It is coming off slower now that i am closer to my goal. I am the healthiest and in best shape i've been in my life at 45 years old. Besides the program itself, I have met some amazing people through this site that motivate and inspire me every day. They are the ones that keep me going. If i have a bad day or feel like i am in a rut, they are there to give me a swift kick in the *kitten*, which is what i need sometime :-)
  • Love being able to keep track of every detail of what im eating! Already lost 60lb and need the last few gone! Plus who doesnt love a good flirt session, and its always good to know who would virtually date bang or marry u :)

    Nice! For the record....would BANG...rate 10/10....*SWAT*

I had googled something about Kashi GoLean and came across a link on the one of the forums that just about made me fall out laughing....all these people commenting on how that stuff was worse than a Taco Bell drive-thru at 2 AM on their digestive systems.

Not that I usually enjoy reading about other people's bathroom issues :noway: , but it was just hilarious, seeing a lot of people with such interesting and varying senses of humor, so I joined and stuck around.

I must say though.....all those comments kept me from trying it. I'll stick with oatmeal.
  • I like making friends, even though I'm new and don't have that many :/

And it's soooo much easier keeping a diary for your nutrition and exercise.

Tired of being disgusted at my belly flub and having to dress strategically to mask it. Which doesn't work.

I was on another program that was bought out by a company that had products for sale and did not want to be bothered, so I browsed Internet and tried the MFP and was surprised at how user friendly it was and how good it was and its now been nearly 2 years

I had lost 50 pounds after finding out that I had Type 2 Diabetes. I joined MFP just before the 2012 Thanks Giving and Christmas Holidays to make sure I kept my focus on my weight loss. I have since learned a lot about how to balance nutrition and fitness as well as how to eat and be happy. I am now at 105 pounds lost.

  • A couple of years ago now, I was using another site, and somehow found a link to MFP. I switched because MFP has a bigger food database. I stay with the other site too, but only for their awesome daily newsletter that I have learned a bunch from.

Being able to track my calories is what brought me to this site initially. But the social aspect of this place is my favorite part of MFP! I love it and I've met some pretty incredible people on here. Plus, I do feel I'm learning so much about fitness and nutrition. Hearing about someone else's experience, and what's worked for them and what hasn't, is far more beneficial to me than taking a class or reading a book on the topic. :smooched: Kisses to all my friends out there! I love you guys! :smooched:

I came here because my trainer told me to. He's on here and he wanted me to join so he could track what I was eating to help in my weight loss. Guess what? It works. I'm at maintenance now, down 50 pounds. Now working back up, but as muscle. I didn't discover the forums for a few months. Now even though I'm at maintenance I still rely on the logging to keep on the straight and narrow, and all the friends I have made around the world to hold me accountable and to have fun and laugh and help.

Thanks to Candide, this is the best of all possible worlds.

I'm here specifically because the food journal is the easiest I've come across. Three years ago when I first started actually counting calories, I was using Self.com (the magazine) and then got turned onto MFP and it was soo much easier to log, it has more foods, I can add my own, and I do love the social (accountability) aspect.

So the tools brought me here, but it is all the amazing people that has kept me here!!

I came cause I was a squishy fattie and hated the way I looked and felt. I stayed because I never want to go back to being that person!

I joined because there aren't people around me that are fitness oriented. My best friend told me about this site and she was really into it for a while, but then she got bored with it. I started reading some of the stuff in the forums and building my friends list. My MFP friends are all motivated sexy people so it makes it fun to log in every day.

I kind of feel like my nutritionist tricked me into coming here. She was actually using the app to work out my macros, from the info I'd given her, and told me I should check it out. I was a bit surprised that she was so forthright with the info, since MFP can almost replace her.

I also stayed for the snark.
