Overnight blueberry oats! Mix oatmeal, almond milk, walnuts, blueberries and 1 tsp maple syrup. Put in the fridge overnight. Yum! Hummus with red peppers. I make homemade hummus in the vitamin and put on a corn tortilla served with Coke slices and a sprinkle of cumin. Sub lettuce leaves for tortilla. Lentils with green…

I had myself tested at the Docs and it 1530 calories a day maintenance for me. I'm 5 7 and 53 yo at 180 lbs. To lose weight, I go to 1250 or 1300 calories a day (which can be tough to sustain). Good luck!

I so get you and I'm sorry. It's very frustrating to be frustrated (if that makes sense). This was me on Monday. I'm also a "numbers" person. The number on the scale literally ruined my day. It made no sense, I knew the number I saw was a water response to the salty food I ate the night before, but it didn't matter. All…

...and I take off my watch too! Anything for that extra edge!

Make a recipe for exactly how you cook those items (chicken stock, or low sodium beef stock, or bullion, etc.). Look for the food items in the DB with the green check next to them. Good luck!

I like this cookbook. It's mostly Vegan, but clearly has some egg and cheese recipes (which I avoid). It's big. Maybe see if the library has it to give it a try. Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone Author: Deborah Madison

Chocolate Muscle Milk Light. It's a treat and tastes like a thick chocolate milkshake to me.

Are you eating back your exercise calories? Many trackers over estimate calories burned.

I have a recipe for Green Barley that is amazing! You can Google, or here is mine... Boil an entire bunch of kale (big stems removed) and then whirl it up in the blender with half a cup of the cooking water. Add that to 1 cup of cooked barley. Then, make a white sauce. I make mine with 2 cups vegetable stock, 2T flour and…

Just made a great vegan dinner. Brown rice, topped with lightly steamed green cabbage, topped with red pepper and firm tofu that were pan 'fried' (with Pam spray). Added a peanut sauce on top (Peanut butter, garlic, red pepper flakes and veggie stock), sprinted with fresh cilantro and a tsp of sunflower seeds. Yum!

I understand that the sweetness of a diet soda makes your brain 'think' that sugar is coming, so it creates an insulin response. Additionally, it trains your taste buds to desire something very sweet. In return, that makes it hard to REALLY enjoy nature's sweetness (like apples, strawberries etc). I stopped drinking…

WeightWatchers has been shown that it's the #1 most effective 'program' for weight loss. They didn't consider MFP a "program" so it didn't get a comparison... but I know it works for me (this coming from a lifetime WW member). Can you do both (logging your WW program in MFP) until you get a feel for what works for YOU?…

I typically slow my drinking way down when trying to lose weight. 1 glass of wine a week type of slow down. It's just hard for me to make it work! More importantly, though, I've heard 2 factoids that I believe are true. 1) Alcohol lowers your inhibitions, including your eating inhibitions. You're much more likely to…

Vitamin Spinach Icecream (apple juice concentrate, spinach, lemon and ice). Google it.

I am truly interested to see if anyone is capable of sustaining a healthy body with junk food in high quantities. A healthy body isn't the same as a skinny or fit body. I would judge health by your A1C level, blood sugar level, cholesterol levels, etc. I had a friend who had a high metabolism who barely weighed 90 lbs, yet…

Atlanta, Georgia girl here. Glad to meet everyone!

It has helped me in the past, but Topamax is helping me more these days. Totally diminishes my appetite so I am able to make healthy food choices. And no jitters. If you do decide to take it, I suggest never taking Phentermine after lunch (if you hope to sleep that night). Good luck!

I have no ideas for you other than what's listed here...but just sending you a big hug. Take a deep breath and keep taking good care of YOU!

My doctor suggested Whole30 diet - which is kind of Paleo. Basically meat, fruit and vege (but not corn, peas or legumes). No dairy, no sweets or artificial sweeteners. It's very low carb (I average 50 - 60 per day) and I feel better and am losing weight. Google it. Lot's of free info on their web site. The other thing I…

You sound like you know your body well. Congrats on your awareness and focus! A few thoughts.... I'd suggest finding an endocrinologist who is highly regarded (checking on-line ratings). Show up with a printed food journal from MFP and your written exercise log for 2 or 3 weeks and they will take you much more seriously.…

If you eat food with nutrition - you fuel your body to be able to have more energy. All calories are not equal.

You ROCK! Congratulations on your achievements!

I concur. you are making great choices - but the amount is too little. Make larger portion sizes. If you want to revv up your metabolism, add more calories. I'd add more protein and fat (so add some almonds to a salad)

Congrats for even STARTING! That's the hardest part. My advice is similar to others. Get up a little earlier (and I'm not a morning person as I say that) and go for a walk or a run if you can, or even play on a WII Fit inside if you have one. Is there a friend or neighbor who might want to go with you?? No matter what -…
