  • I too joined Weight Watchers several times and I was successful at losing, but then gained it all back plus more each time. Finally I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and that was a big wake up call. If I didn't get the weight off, I was headed for a worsening of my health. I have lost 54 pounds over the last 18 months.…
  • Thanks for inspiring us!
  • Oh BTW congrats on your loss! That's awesome!
  • If your goal was to lose weight as fast as possible, watch out, it may come back on just as fast. But if your goal is to lose weight and keep it off for the rest of your life, losing slow is always better. It is eating in a way that is sustainable.
  • Your weight loss is awesome! Keep going! You can do it!
  • BTW you look great!

  • I am ready for maintenance also. It is scary. I have lost weight several times before, but have never maintained. What I have read from others is it's not drastically different from losing. You eat a few more calories and continue to exercise. If it isn't a trigger for you, you can add in a treat once a week or so. MFP…

  • Just know that whenever you first start a losing weight eating plan, the first week is always the biggest loss. You probably already know that, but don't get discouraged if the next week is not that big of a loss. My advice as one who has lost and gained back the weight many times is take it slow so that your healthy…
  • Great pics! Awesome thoughts!
  • I don't think I'm qualified to give advise about this, since I haven't done it. But I have read a lot of comments that have said that heavy lifting may cause you temporarily to show a weight gain or a least a big slow down in the scale dropping. Ask a trainer where you work out. They would know.
  • Sorry about the typo. I meant Don't base progress on one thing and you won't get so discouraged.
  • I'm 59 and have lost 54pounds over the last year and a half. Try to be patient. It will come off. Try to remember it's not a race. It's your life and health. If you are logging accurately and being honest with your portions, it will come off. Try not to judge your success totally on the scale. It doesn't tell the whole…
  • You look totally transformed! Pictures do tell a lot don't they? Keep on going! Good luck!
  • I am just starting on maintenance and I am having a hard time psychologically. Of course I went off track over the long weekend and have just gained some, so I am back to a calorie deficit. But I have to figure out some new goals to shoot for and how to celebrate the scale staying the same. It's all in how you look at it.…
  • That's a very thought provoking quote. How do you get to the "New You"? How long does it take before the brain accepts the "new you" as the "real you"? Something to ponder over so the changes can in fact become permanent. I'd like to hear others thoughts about this. I've reached my goal weight, and have changed my thinking…
  • For me I have experienced the same thing. I believe we crave what we eat. If we make a habit of eating foods that are good for us, that is what we crave. I used to crave cookies, chocolate, pies, etc. I really don't that much anymore. I just choose to eat healthy and that is what I crave.
  • Going on a beach vacation with MFH!
  • Good for you! I've been thinking about getting one.
  • First of all, quit stressing. Stress does a lot of negative things to our bodies including being part of the cause of weight gain. If you have a day where you go over your calories, just remember tomorrow is a new day. It's a clean slate. You can start fresh. Don't beat yourself up over it. Don't make yourself feel so…
  • If your goal is to lose the baby weight, you have to do some cardio, it's the only thing that will burn calories. But even more important is what you put in your mouth. Set a goal for how much you want to lose each week, plug it in to MFP and it will give you your daily calorie goal to lose that amount. Then add exercise…
  • I have decided that certain foods are trigger foods for me that can send me into a binge. I try to avoid them altogether because I'm tired of being held captive by food. I've decided I want to be in control. There is actual science that talks about the addictiveness of sugar, foods high in carbs, and foods high in fat.…
  • People, are we a site about fitness or grammar? Get over the grammar mistakes and give some advice with some value. You are not going to get bulky from walking. But you do need to do some activity 5 or more days a week if you want to lose weight and get fit. Be careful what advice you take to heart. There are a lot of…
  • I have read and had fitness instructors say you need to eat some protein after a workout because you have just torn down your muscles so you need to build them back up. I've been doing that for almost 2 years now and am still losing just fine. You don't gain weight unless you eat more calories than you are burning.
  • I rarely have fast food because it is so high in salt and fat! I used to eat it quite a bit, but don't miss it now. If I do eat fast food, I usually go for Subway or Panera Bread. They have much much healthier choices.
  • That's fantastic! Water is very helpful in losing or maintaining weight and just being healthy. When we don't drink enough we become dehydrated which makes you feel tired and makes your skin look dry and saggy. Who needs that? Water also helps remove toxins from our body and helps keep us regular which also makes you feel…
  • Good for you! I have lost 52 pounds over the last 15 months. I am very close to maintenance. I might ask for your help in maintaining. Are you at goal? Do you have any suggestions on changing over to maintenance?
  • For me, as a person who has lost and gained weight many times in my life, I unfortunately had to have a big wake up call. It was when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So I finally decided I can't keep doing this yo-yo dieting. It's eventually going to kill me! So I read the book Never Say Diet by Chantel Hobbs, who…
  • I hope after the wedding you are not planning on doing exactly what you did before. Then your weight will come back on and all that hard work will go to waste. Instead I hope you have embraced a lifestyle and brain change that will keep the weight off for life. Often times we want to lose weight for a special event and…
