Ah yes, Granola - or in general, all cereals that are "healthy" meaning not the sugar-bombs for children. My mum saw me the other day getting the scales out for my daily cereal, and she quipped "haven't you figured it out by now how much you need in a bowl?". THAT IS NOT THE POINT. 10g is visually NOTHING, yet so much </3

Thank you two for your responses! @middlehaitch Yeah I am measuring liquids. As I said maintaining without counting wasn't a problem, rather, losing after a period of maintaining was! I use TDEE. I finally managed to get one kilo off since the last time I wrote in this thread. What I did was I swapped my lifting and…

Do you want to lose weight or gain fitness? To lose weight, strictly speaking you don't need exercise per se, just a calorific deficit. So perhaps given the circumstances, plan in exercise as a bonus but don't rely on it since it will just pressure you. I'm not a mum but my sister is, and she had the same problem- just too…

Hey there, cheers for the response. Yea, I seem to be eating too much, like I said. I just feel that the right balance to between too much and too little is hard to find when I am working out- hence the thread. I thought maybe people have some insights into what helped them getting there- some lightbulb moment, some…

My strategy: always wear a tight top at home. DON'T expand your clothes size. If you put on a pound, make sure you notice it as soon as you sit down. That way, it annoys me and it will be on my mind. Also, IIFYM! I ate whole boxes of Chirstmas cookies last year and didn't put a gram on. Just skip a meal as a trade-off, do…

I think that you should happily eat his foods, but just in your portion size. I never divided food into his/mine. I certainly am not feeding on carrots and would prefer the brownie any day. What's wrong about that? If you're hitting your calorie goals, it's fine. Also, follow your instincts. I have often eaten sweets…

Don't diet. Don't try to "lose weight". Change your behaviour so that you eat at a consistent deficit, using MFP, TDEE, whatever floats your boat. Then there is no endurance to be had. Because there is no "goal". You simply eat how you eat, and that's what will shred the weight. Also, having read your profile, why not pick…

Just stop liking it.

You just made me google armpit vagina. What was I thinking.

Absolutely not. Same goes for shirtless guys. You are here to work out, not to show off. It's distracting. Yes, I get you are proud- I am too. But there are plenty of clothes that will actually cover you and still show how much work you have put into your body. It's inappropriate to wear a bra in public. A gym is public.…

I gotta say I'm boring. I did weight watchers. A can of Pringles was 16 points. I couldn't stop at half, so I grudgingly got on my bike and pedalled along until I had hit 40 minutes or whatever the book told me would give me 8 points back. Of course, no mention of actual effort. :smokin:

I'm 5'6 (64kg) and maintaining at 1800-2000. I go to the gym 3x1hour a week, that's already calculated. Given that you are much taller, I think you have nothing to worry about.

Quoted for emphasis. Time to change your mindset, not necessarily your diet.

This, so much :p

Do you actually need to lose 15 pounds? What is your current weight? Clothes size? Do you want to lose weight or gain shape? You diary has lots of gaps in it, stick to it daily. Perhaps switch to TDEE instead of MFP. I.e. increase your daily intake, but don't log exercise extra.

Why are you worried about carbs in the first place? They are just a means of fuelling your body, whether you get that from cakes, fast food, pasta or bananas. I personally always have bananas before the gym because they give me a good boost. They are rich in vitamin B6, potassium, fiber... seriously, it's not all about the…

I just don't buy into the idea that people are perfectly happy eating only the "healthiest" stuff that amounts to less than 1500kcal a day. If I only have super-healthy vegetables, super-healthy fruits, super-healthy chicken/vegetarian equivalent for two days, I just want to go outside set everything on fire that looks…

Just a tip: try out the brand before spending a lot of money on big tubs. I learned the hard way. I seem to get a bad allergic reaction* to all powders I have tried so far- I don't understand why because I have no known food allergies, but I have dropped protein powder completely as a result. I don't find it hard to reach…

I would refrain from using statements such as these. It simply takes practice if you are not one of those who seem to have no problem with it. I switched to maintenance last November, and started not logging for a day or two. I gradually increased the days of not logging, sometimes simply logging one day a week just to see…

How can you say that without knowing the OP's daily intake? She might be eating too much to lose.

It is very likely caused by your weight but not certain. Either way, this is the way you were- what's important is that you are different now. The more you grieve about what used to be, the less you can enjoy what you are and what you have now. Regret is a perfectly sensible feeling, but just make sure to remind yourself…

TDEE: Do not log exercise MFP: Log exercise

WTF, 100g carb for weightloss? What's this business of throwing a random number around that is magically going to help weightloss? @OP: You are most likely experiencing fears of high-sugar/fat due to years of dietary indoctrination. Eating 2 bananas will bring you above the MFP calorie target- don't bother with it. Change…

cereal + milk.

I can only say: carry on at a pace you are comfortable with. As you lose weight, your understanding of "ideal weight" will change, too and you will get to know what it is like being lighter in the first place. For example I was 88kg/194lbs at my heaviest, and "average" weight for my "average" height would be 60kg/132lbs. I…

I can't get the inspiring vibe from this story. How long you were not heard, not diagnosed, ignored, not listened to fills me with bitterness. I am thinking of those that didn't get ... well, lucky isn't even the right word. It is downright depressing to read such horrible reality. That does not take anything away from…

I don't know this Hairy Dieters book but you mentioned it is focused on low-fat. If you want to stay healthy after losing your weight, it is really important to educate yourself about foods and why they are demonized. Fat does not make you fat, calorie surplus does. Try out 10% fat greek yogurt- it has much more proteins…

I do not mean to offend any vege-or other-tarians, but I just want to ask whether you are vegetarian for some reason linked to you ED? I.e. is it simply preference, on moral grounds or perhaps a repulsion? It's just something I would ask myself: is it for "real" or rather a way of justifying your eating behaviour? Again I…
