  • This is hotter than when I was in WDW over the 4th of July weekend, lol. It's just not right! :#
  • Yup, been doing that for years with my beloved Brooks Glycerins (which they changed, grrr, hence my search for new shoes). Been trying it with all the new shoes I've tried too.
  • I've been MIA on the thread. Particularly when I heard about Kevin on FB I knew I would just come on this thread and start crying (which I just did, at my desk) like I did when I first heard. I'm in for the tribute in November. I'm doing a Disney 1/2 on the 3rd so I'll add myself to the chart going around. I've been…
  • First two days of marathon training plan down! Tues was hot and humid, Wed was slightly hotter but half the humidity, so was more comfortable. I'm already sick of summer! Rest day today, another 3 miles tomorrow, gonna walk all over the Bronx Zoo again on Sat (yay new annual pass!), and 6 on Sun, which will bring me to my…
  • Ketchup on hotdogs is an abomination unto the world :s :D #sorrynotsorry
  • This reminds me of the time one of my two grabbed and gobbled down 3 of my mom's pills - I believe they were calcium, some kind of supplement like glucosamine condroitin perhaps, and a prescription cholesterol pill! I was at work at the time, my mom panicked, brought him to the vet, they had to call animal poison control…
  • @zeesparrow it's kinda sad but I'm almost afraid to say it, lol. It is my 3rd year in a row attempting to train for my first full marathon! First two attempts I injured myself (different injury, different leg each time, lol). I decided the Philly Marathon was jinxed for me, hence switching it up to MCM. I'm keeping…
  • So, I read through all the missed pages! Congrats on the PR's and races! Glad to see people recovering from injuries! @Elise4270 , @midwesterner85 , and @Avidkeo - you guys are killing me with your kitty drama! I'm a furmama to 2 kitties myself, always been a cat person! Hope Mr. Snake Bite is all healed up, and that the…
  • Finally, slowly catching up on this thread! I agree! I do enjoy that kind of weather. I will actually get bummed if it's been too long of a stretch with no gray, rainy days, lol. Yes, I know I'm odd! :D
  • I'll trade you, lol. Honestly, I am really not a fan of heat and really the HUMIDITY. Just ugh. I love cool, rainy days, they make me happy. And I only live in NY. As much as I love Walt Disney World I could never live in Florida b/c I would just be miserable for most of the year :D
  • Had planned on a long run yesterday but it was NOT happening. The route I picked, my local Rail Trail, starts out with a very shallow uphill for about the 1st two miles and my calves were absolutely barking at me. I'm wondering if there was a lot of leftover soreness from running 3 miles on Fri in my new Topos, which are a…
  • First of all, congrats on the race! Awesome job! also, I just lol'd at my desk and I needed a laugh so thank you for this! :D
  • I have not, I'll have to do some googling. Lol, I actually already lace all my shoes to relieve pressure over the top of the foot and tie loosely
  • The numbness is not a thing unique to lower drop shoes for me. My trail shoes are zero drop Altras, and I don't run a ton in them but they don't make my feet numb. I tend to have a cadence that averages around 172-174, and my last 5k race averaged 180. I also don't heel strike so don't have a super hard strike impact. I…
  • In the midst of new shoe testing. Ugh. NOT my favorite thing in the world. I don't think the NB 1080s will work out. The Topos did pretty well on Wed, a bit of numbness but it went away in one foot. More numbness on today's test run, but not as painful as the NB's. Blah. I don't even know. I'm gonna give them a few more…
  • Don't think I ever posted my miles from the weekend. Eek! Just donated blood on my lunch break today, have a feeling tonight's run is gonna be extra slow, lol. Date Miles Notes 6/1/2019-- 3.1 -- Dennis P. McCugh 5k 6/2/2019-- 7 -- tired, warm long run 6/3/2019-- 0 -- rest day 6/4/2019-- 3 -- OMG such a beautiful day out!…
  • Thank you @zeesparrow and @shanaber that is very helpful! I always hate clogging up a thread w/massive pics!
  • Really, it's an excuse to get one more use out of my Disney World annual pass before it expires (only time I've ever had one & don't know when/if I'll have one again, lol). I figure even if I have to walk a lot of it my pride might be injured but I'll still be at Disney! :D I have also been meaning to ask about the spoiler…
  • Nice! I'm keeping it simple - going with the Hal Higdon Novice 1 plan. I'm also doing the Wine & Dine Half the following weekend at Disney World and hoping I won't end up regretting that :D
  • I'm registered for the MCM too! Also hopefully my first full! What training plan will you be using?
  • @runnergirl238 congrats on the amazing PR! As some of you might remember, I finally had to say goodbye to my old friends the Brooks Glycerins. I've been in them since I started running but the latest model just kills my feet. So, I finally got out to my local, super awesome running store to find some new kicks! I've been…
  • Oh yeah, I'm not too worried about the distance in general. But, it will be in the midst of my marathon training for Marine Corps Marathon at the end of October and I don't want to do anything too technical or risky since I keep injuring myself during marathon training, lol. Although.....if this race is around the same…
  • So, I just had a "well DUH" facepalm moment, lol. All day I've been thinking that I'll be doing my run today. I was annoyed b/c I couldn't do it on my lunch break since I had an appt to get to, and it's a high of 86°F & sunny today, blech. It finally only just dawned on me that my company has a half day tomorrow, tomorrow…
  • It's the Mountain Madness 50k, but I am NOT looking at the 50k distance! Lol. There's 25k and 7 mile options as well and I'm looking at the 7 mile one - I'm trying to do more trail running but I've only ever done 2 trail races - a 4 miler and a 5k. https://sites.google.com/site/njtrailseries/mountainmadness Here's another…
  • Just saw this on the site of a trail race I was looking at and I'm dying :D
  • 3.5 miles in the books today. It was 80°F, sunny, 49% humidity, slight breeze. I know it's not technically summer yet and it's only going to get worse, but I'm already sick of summer :| :D @PastorVincent yeah yeah, I still need to get through this evening's zumba class too! :D :D Date Miles Notes 6/1/2019-- 3.1 -- Dennis…
  • I just added a half mile to my lunch run that I could pledge to MFP - since I had already pledged my 3 to my local running group :D
  • Happy Global Running Day everybody! Going to get my miles in at lunch today. I set up a group on the globalrunningday.org site for my local running group. We have 16 runners and 64 miles pledged!
  • Holy moly is the weather absolutely beautiful today! It was right around 70°F, actually low humidity for once, lovely breeze, beautiful blue skies, sun, and fluffy white clouds. My ideal running temp is cooler than this, but it was just so dang pleasant out! Made it SO VERY HARD to go back inside to my office, lol. Date…
  • One thing I find that helps me is to use the calorie cushion from my long runs over more than one day. I view my calorie goals more holistically, looking at it by week, so that as long as I'm at or under for the whole week I don't stress if one particular day is over. So, since I don't necessarily eat back all the calories…
