  • Thanks for the comments. Yah...all things being equal, the only difference would be "B" works out with weights, cardio, etc, etc. So I'm inclined to believe "B" would look much better, tighter, toned, etc, etc. Thx. ;)
  • puhleazeeeee...read through the posts and think...before...you.....post. >>1300 calories a day<< IS low and very well could be the reason she isn't losing like she wants.
  • http://www.caloriecontrol.org/calculator/weight-maintenance-calculator-women According to the above link for a 30 year old woman, 5'5, 1300 calories is what a person weighing 70lbs would need a day to maintain their weight. So perhaps....you're eating....not...quite....enough.......food?!?!
  • You're only 18? I say go with a 2 year plan, that will be 4lbs a month, totally doable on even the most modest of life style changes. Do it slow...lose it for life. ;)
  • Depending on your age, weight, sex, you could be vastly under eating. So.. fill us in with more data. ;)
  • Thanks for the replies. :)
  • I've literally walked off over 140lbs so far. Granted...it's been a slow process of 3 years now, but there is no doubt....walking works.
  • 1lb heavier? Try again...this time move just a little to the left or right on the scale...bingo! That lb is lost again, oops...move a little up or down on the scale....damn...gained it back. ;) lol...
  • A whole 6 lbs to lose? wow...you really do need to be here. I hope you find a way....to....somehow...go on. Good luck! ;)
  • My mom smoked for years and died right in front of my dad as she coughed up her lung and bled out. This is a fairly common way to die when you have emphysema. I suggest you stop smoking and have a bit of self control on the eating. Good luck.
  • My only concern was the suggestion to live off 1000 cals a day. That's just not doable long term for probably no one. When I was around 19 years old, I did just that. I lived off tuna and grapefruit juice, jogged and played tennis every day. Lost about 100lbs in 6 months or less. And developed a heart issue to go with it…
  • @GeorgeSanchez - If you're stuck at a plateau research "zig zagging" your calories. It's good to mix it up. Eat less some days, eat alot more on others, etc, etc. You want to wake up your metab. ;)
  • I've only been here a short while, but I 100% agree with you!! It's amazing how some people just think....wrong. And no doubt these are the people that probably ride that roller coaster their entire life. ;)
  • Tone - lighter weights, more reps. Strength - heavier weights, less reps.
  • "If you are aiming for 2000 cals a day, example, and burn 1000 calories worth of exercise in a day, don't eat 3000, still eat your 2000. You vary off that and thats where you are doing your damage" And live off only 1000 cals a day? That won't last long.
  • Sorry, that made me chuckle. You don't need near muscle failure to get benefit. There's tone and strength benefit without near / temp failure. And depending on the person's age, you could have a serious injury by thinking "just this one....more.....SNAP!" uh oh... Struggle a bit on the last few reps? Sure....muscle…
  • I think this works for people that have alot of weight to lose and are possibly at a plateau. I've researched this alot and it does indeed work. You can average out weekly or monthly if you want to. But if your zig-zag is the same every week, your body will adapt, so once in a while randomize things a bit. Zig-zig on…
  • 144lbs? How tall are you? You might be ok as is... If you're weight training, muscle weighs more than fat, so that could be happening as well. But 2lbs / week gain is alot so more than likely you're not logging correctly. Also...how's your water intake? If you slowed down your water intake, you could be holding water.
  • 1200 and 1800, really? If you don't mind, what is both of your current weight and target weight? Because those are fairly low requirements for adult women/men. 1800 is around 160lbs for a typical man where 1200 would put you under 100lbs for a typical woman, to maintain those weights.…
  • Just a final bump in hopes of getting someone who might be able to confirm my thoughts on this. Thanks!
  • Dude...you're only 15lbs over weight now!! SLOW DOWN!!!! Like some people who lose alot of weight, when the checkered flag is in sight they kick it in to over drive and this is when things can get scary. Seriously....slow down, get up to at LEAST 1800 calories. If it takes a few months or more to lose the last 15, so…
  • Eating 1700-1800 calories a day should allow you to lose weight, since according to this site: http://www.caloriecontrol.org/calculator/weight-maintenance-calculator-women A woman your age, height should eat 1900 to >>maintain<< a weight of 175. One thing I've learned over the past few years is to "mix it up" weekly,…
  • Dude....just keeping it real and if I was a close friend of yours in person, I would probably slap you in the face or ask yourself to slap you. ;) lol.. My bro has the same feelings about water and at the age of 50 started to develop horrible kidney stones, gout, etc, etc. I've never had either, but the gout from what I…
  • How tall are you? Trying to figure out exactly how "over weight" you are. Thx.
  • How much overweight are you? If you're saying 13lbs, that's probably going to take alot longer to lose than you think due to you're already pretty much in shape.
  • Hi Michael, I'm 50 and was just about the same weight as you 3 years ago. I'm now approaching my goal weight of 250. The first sign for me that something was wrong was I couldn't walk to the mail box and back without being short of breath, burning chest pain, etc, etc. The best advice from me as someone with a similar age…
  • Bingo! This stuff is golden! I always add a banana to mine and I mix it all up thick and creamy! It's a 100% REPLACEMENT for any and all ice cream cravings. woo hoo!!
  • Please do some research when you have time. Since this is the 2nd time around, I would suggest a much slower progress which will allow you to transition more realistically to a stable life style. 800-1200 calories a day, is scary low for someone overweight. But you're right about one thing....."transition". Hopefully the…
  • "The eating plan I follow right now is a lower carb, high protein, around 1100 calories a day. My biggest issues are just sticking too it. I do more often then not, but some days are bad." 1100!!!! Unless you're a medical emergency...that is just nuts and is a recipe for disaster imho. I eat 1970 calories a day and that's…
