  • Hi Susan. Welcome to MFP. I'm Carolyn and I've been on here for a bit. I find the calorie counting very useful and the support from pals invaluable. I like having one place to track exercise and calories together. Feel free to send me a friend request if you'd like.
  • I like to listen to the birds, the wind, my footfall, the train whistles. Congratulations on your new habit of walking. I hope it will be a long, productive ritual for you!

  • Just back from a trip to DC to cope with family health issues. Despite restaurant eating and no exercise, I lost about 3 lbs. Goals for the rest of the week are to walk at least a couple of miles a day, snow and rain permitting, keep withing calorie goals, catch up on sleep, and drink 8 glasses of water a day. And enjoy…
  • Hi. I'm Carolyn from North Carolina. Thanks for inviting me Brigitte. I'm 52 and the mother of 3 adult children, the youngest of whom is at home. I am a cardiac nurse turned public health student and am attending UNC-Greensboro to get my BS in PH. I have 3 semesters and an internship to go. I had lost about 130 lbs, but…

  • I don't think there's anything in MFP, but wouldn't that be great? Because then all your foods could be analyzed and just flow into your diary. I'd pay for that! Instead, I use Pepperplate. It generates a meal plan for my family, and a grocery list if my recipes have been entered into it. I can look at the recipes on my…
  • Height: 5'6" HW: ~300 in 2005 Started weight loss journey at ~235 in Summer 2013. LW: 171 in Summer 2015 CW: 184 GW: 154 (BMI of 24.9) and then see how I feel. May try to go lower depending on how I look and feel at that time. I have been stuck between 179 and 185 for months. I am ready to kick things up a notch and try to…
  • I hope I'm not too late to join. I've been looking for a challenge to join, preferring to join a longer term one like this. I weighed in this morning at 183.4 and will continue to weigh in on Thursdays. My goal weight is 154 (BMI of 24.9), but by 1/1/17 would like to weigh 175 or 176. To that end I will: a) drink 8 glasses…
  • I'm ready for a new group. Please count me in. Thanks.
  • I am so impressed by you, your dedication and your life changes. The first changes I made were to stop drinking soda and to start parking the car in the FARTHEST spot from the entrance of a store instead of the closest. You need to stay dedicated so that you will be present not just to kick a ball around with your kids,…
  • Cheryl, That's an awesome loss. You know as well as anyone that it's not good to lose too fast, so really you got the best of both worlds. You've come a really long way!! I'm so impressed. I've lost 9-10 lbs., depending on what day I weigh. Yesterday I was under 175, today I'm at 175.8. So as of today I've lost 9.2 lbs. My…
  • Wow, Cheryl! Can it really be our last week? Time has flown! So much has happened. I certainly haven't gotten down to where I intended, but I did say I was going to try maintenance for a while. I started on 1/1 at 185 and today I'm 176.8. So I haven't lost a bunch, but some. All told, I'm down about 123 from my all time…

  • You'll be under 180 in no time flat! You're cruising. I'm down to 178.2 today, so one of those pounds is gone. I see the doc who prescribed the med on Monday. It's causing wild dreams and headaches too, though the headaches aren't as bad now as they were first few days. I'm not sure this drug is worth the trouble :|

  • Awesome Cheryl!!! I had a rough week. My doc started me on a new med that doesn't "usually" cause weight gain. I've gained 4.2 lbs in 7 days. I haven't always been eating at a deficit, so I didn't necessarily expect to lose, but I shouldn't have gained!!! At least I'm still under 180. I'll just have to exercise more and…

  • Terrific Cheryl! Three cheers for you! Another week or two and you'll be there. How wonderful!

  • I agree that you can lose weight on any diet that you choose to lose weight on as long as you have a calorie deficit. But studies by *scientists* such as Steven Gundry and Barry Sears have shown that the FDA recommendations are bunk. People need more fat, and they need GOOD fats. The ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 should be…
  • Thanks for putting this at the top again!

  • Was up last week. Better this week, back down to 180.2. I say I'm only trying to maintain right now, but really what I want is to at least get below, maybe 2-5 lbs. below, 180. Then I'll sit there for a few months before I reevaluate. One cute thing happened this week. I went and saw my mom where she's vacationing in SC.…
  • 181.6 on weigh in day. But today (Friday), I'm 180.2. I have the crud, so I can't eat much 'cause I can't breathe. But yesterday I had 4 liters of water, so the weight loss is not due to dehydration. Heckuva way to lose it, but that's the one part of this I'm *not* complaining about!
  • I am also where I was January 1, but I'm sure part of it is sodium. Too many pickles, too much wonderful Chinese food. So: will not buy any more pickles, and I ate all that were in the frig; AND, my son is headed back to China on Monday, so my diet will get back on track then! I will miss him terribly until I see him again…
  • Gained 1.6 this week. TOM for me too...and my sweetie bought ice cream, so I indulged. Okay, back on track!! Hey, where are you all? I'm the only one who's posted to the spreadsheet so far! Is everyone sleeping in on a Thursday??
  • No loss this week, but no gain either ;-) Plan is to stay the course except for one thing--eliminate eating out. It's too hard on the budget and too hard on the waistline!
  • 1/1: 185 1/8: 184.6 1/15: 182.8 loss so far: 2.2 goal for month: lose 5 lbs. (though not realistic as the most I usually lose in a month is ~3...but I *really* want to be below 180 at the end of January!). goal for challenge: 170 ultimate goal: 140 I have 50.01 miles left to walk this month, an average of 3.12/day. Better…
  • You may certainly add me. I'm also on daily...kind of obsessively really.
  • 1/1: 185.0 1/8: 184.6 (but TOM...) goal for challenge: 170 ultimate goal: 140
