  • Great article about nightshades and inflammation, with a long list of foods to avoid: http://www.sott.net/article/261186-The-link-between-nightshades-chronic-pain-and-inflammation
  • Bromelain (in pineapple) and turmeric (spice) are anti-inflammatory. I don't have the time to pull the research either, you can google it.
  • I had that same problem the other night too. I think MFP had a few glitches that night. The "like" problem seems to be fixed today.
  • Same here. So for now I just do some "normal" walking and no workouts. I also noticed the pain kicks up a notch when I walk down stairs.
  • I have been walking for a long time, but I got a joint injury and a stress fracture in my foot when I tried to "ramp it up" with short intervals of running. I wasn't supposed to put a lot of weight on my foot so walking was out of the question for a couple of months. In order to still be on the road to weight loss, I used…
  • Leslie is on facebook and you can post comments there, so you can actually ask her these questions. There are also different giveaways! ("Walk to the Hits-All Time Favorites" in October) https://www.facebook.com/LeslieSansone?fref=ts

  • I had these before and they are not bad at all. I brought some to a friends house and they were gone in a heartbeat: http://2beesinapod.com/2013/09/25/weight-watchers-pumpkin-spiced-muffins/
  • I use it for zucchini and then fry the spirals in a pan with a little bit of olive oil (or butter), salt and pepper, add some bacon bits and a tablespoon of shredded mozarella. Makes a nice lunch with a piece of toast.
  • If I would recommend a Leslie Sansone DVD for you, it would be the " Mix + Match Walk Blasters" which contains 10 different mini-walks. Each mini walk is 10 minutes long and you can put together your own workout. You can just do 10 minutes of a gentle, no sweat walk, or 30 minutes and more depending on your fitness level.…
  • Hello and congratulations for taking steps in the right direction. I totally understand how 160 lbs to loose looks like a frightening big task. Maybe you can take on this task in smaller steps, like 20 lbs for the first short term goal? Some people think it is a great idea to work towards a reward to reach each of these…
  • I did 30 minutes of walk-aerobics yesterday and just finished 40 minutes of walking on the treadmill. I stayed in the green, but only because going on the treadmill tonight added calories back to my allowance. So you went over with ONE itty bitty calorie... that is still green in my book! Great job!
  • Pineapple, ginger, blueberries, turmeric and fresh wild salmon (Alaska) are all anti-inflammatory. You can get turmeric and bromelain (from pineapple) in capsule form as a supplement. Fresh fruit would be awesome in smoothies. Here is one recipe:…
  • Yes, it is probably hard to get these DVD's in Germany. Of course the US DVD's don't run there either. TV's and DVD's in Germany run with the PAL system. Here is the only set I found available in PAL for you:…
  • I got the first two done. I stayed under my calorie limit and got 1 hour and 30 minutes of exercise in. I would probably NOT have exercised today or even yesterday without this challenge. So thank you again, I really needed the little extra motivation! I did not get #3 (do something positive for yourself), as I have some…
  • Yes, this is what it did to me too! I thought I wouldn't be able to move the next day! It was pretty tough, but by the same token you definitely know that you just finished a good workout.
  • Awesome! Yes, weekends tend to let us slack on our diet and workouts. Just this morning I thought "today is my day off from exercise". Thank you for the extra motivation! Challenge accepted! Have an awesome weekend everyone. :)
  • Today life took over good intentions. I only completed # 3. Does anyone want to post a challenge for tomorrow?
  • Nice! Yoga done - Stress gone. :) I just finished cleaning the kitchen after the cooking mess, that should count! LOL! Just kidding... 1) Green: I ate broccoli at lunch and zucchini at dinner. 2) I did 30 minutes of cardio and some exercises on the Total Gym, which I didn't touch in over a year. 3) Did the squats - Yay! I…
  • Good snacks are also carrot sticks with light ranch or hummus, apple slices with a little peanut butter + crushed nuts + chocolate chips, or greek yogurt. For a sweet tooth try "Fiber One" 90 calorie treats like brownie, lemon bar, cinnamon coffee cake etc. How about a nice biscotti with your coffee?
  • How about an apple with a light mozarella (string-) cheese stick? Or grapes with cheese? They both have some sugar, but it's from fruit. :) Can't go wrong with a small serving of fruit and protein! Also a serving size of trail mix (mixed nuts and dried fruit like cherries, cranberries or raisins) would be perfect. You can…
  • I love that the challenges also included healthy eating. Great idea.
  • Sounds like you are having a nice variety. New things can go both ways, but it's awesome when you find a new favorite! Yoga is great for flexibility. What kind of challenges was your group all about?
