  • I say 5 days is pushing it on the tuna. I would feel better about 3 days. There are many non cook options. Take some cottage cheese, strawberries or other berry fruit, yogurts, some nuts(almonds, chia seeds or pumpkin seeds), baked pita chips with hummus is so good! Be careful with sandwich or deli meats(high sodium).
  • I have 4 kids, do daycare from home for 4 other kids, so I just can't afford $4.00 for a loaf of bread. So I prefer Nature's Pride Honey Wheat bread. It doesn't have bleached or encriched flour, no high fructose corn syrup and a relatively short list of pronouncable ingredients. The best thing is, my kids eat it and they…
  • Do you eat fish? You could try a gumbo, can be made with or without fish. Gumbo with cornbread muffins is yummy and full of veggies! You could also make a veggie lasagna with some garlic bread and side salad. www.allrecipes.com has great recipes.
  • This is a site I've used for that purpose http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/recipe_analysis.php
  • There is a GREAT product from Quixtar (Amway) of all places...It's called Nutrilite Twist tubes. You just add it to a bottle of water. Oh my goodness...they are so good. Now, I'm not an Amway rep so I can only give you a link to the general order/info page...but they are relatively inexpensive and taste AWESOME! I tried…
  • You could use the Whisky River BBQ burger from Red Robin as a substitute...Redrobin.com. It may not be the same content, but is probably close! Just a thought.
  • Thanks, but you can do it too!!! If they don't like the Wiggles, then what about CD's like Kid's Bop. I know it sounds funny, but it works! It also gets them doing something physical and involves them in a fun way! Family bike rides are great too. We go and then stop at McDonald's and get an ice cream cone. I usually share…
  • I really feel your pain!!! I do daycare at home and watch 4 kids plus my youngest daughter(20 mos old) and I have 3 additional kids of my own(12, 8, and 5). My youngest gets up at 6 am with me, sometimes 5:30 am. My first daycare child arrives at 6:30am. The last ones leave between 5:30 and 6:00pm. The kids nap from 11 am…
  • Here is a meal that I love to make, just to give you an idea... 1 chicken breast cutlet (150 cal) Kroger has a bag of them in the meat dept. Frozen!!! use a paper towel with a little olive oil on it to lightly coat your pan. Sprinkle Spike seasoning onto chicken(one or both sides) (0 calories and low sodium, great flavor!)…
  • You do burn more if you are walking at a good pace, you are working harder. I push a 4 kid stroller that probably weighs 30 lbs, with 4 kids...2 three yr olds and 2 1 1/2 yr olds. This is easily over 90 lbs. It's a hard walk, but very gratifying! Makes you feel good. In fact, this is how I started on my weight loss after…
  • Actually, the number of fat cells doesn't disappear(unless you go through lipo!). It's the amount of fat stored in them that goes away. It is used as fuel by our other body cells, so it is "burned" off.
  • Moderation is key...a chocolate bar isn't bad, just account for it and work out a bit longer today. Then....politely ask them to refrain from bringing sweets. I understand they may be doing it for the kids, but, there are other ways and things to bring the kids that won't add unnecessary sugar to their diet (and yours).…
  • Making a lifestyle change is not an easy thing to do. It doesn't matter if you have 15 or 150 lbs to lose, change is change. The most important thing is your determination to succeed. Our minds are very powerful and only you have the power to control you and your actions. There is a healthy balance with food and exercise.…
  • If you are able to run (jog), it forces you to tighten your core and use all of your muscles. There is a program, couch to 5K that can help you start running if you haven't in the past. Here is the link... http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
  • First, cook less food...If you are the cook, you are in control of the amount of food prepared. Portion control is one of the most important things you can do. I have a large family, 4 kids and a husband, to cook for. I always made more food than we could eat, I sometimes still do. Once you've made dinner and eaten your…
  • I LOVE to cook. My husband isn't picky, but my oldest daughter is extremely picky. So, I hide the good foods in the foods she likes. For instance, I put butternut squash in her mac n cheese. She doesn't know it's there and it tastes great with more nutrients. I got the idea from the cookbook "Deceptively Delicious" by…
  • I don't know what to tell you except to keep trucking on healthy eating and exercising. I have used the Fiber Cleanse from TriVita and found it helped with weight loss. I believe using pills, shakes, etc to lose weight will most likely lead to disappointment in the long run. If you stick to the calorie suggestions on this…
  • I never make my kids a seperate meal, they eat it or like the others, they make themselves a PB&J. I will introduce new foods with foods I know they will eat. For instance I will bake some chicken, do a side of mashed potatos or rice(they love brocc & cheddar Rice A Roni) and a new veggie as a side. My son and middle…
  • Best of luck on your journey to become parents! You should try to start taking pre-natal vitamins prior to conception so you are getting all of the folic acid and extra nutrients your body will need and you get in the habit of taking them so you can continue throughout pregnancy. Keep excersising as long as you can, it's…
  • I do daycare from home too, I make my lunch as I am preparing theirs. I know it's hard, but I usually start to prepare my lunch, usually a big salad or homemade sushi, first, then as I go just prepare their meal. Today for instance, I turned on the oven, then started to make my salad(fresh broccoli, cauliflower, tomato,…
  • Also, you can use milled flax seed as a substituite for the fat or eggs in your recipe. 1 TBSP milled flax seed and 3 TBSP water will replace one egg. I would try to keep at least one real egg or use the equivalent in egg beaters as the flax doesn't seem to have the same "glue" power!
  • Apple cider vinegar contains malic acid. Malic acid is derived from apples and is sometimes used in skin care much like an alpha hydroxy acid(glycolic or lactic). My grandmother swears by apple cider vinegar for most things. She even uses it to soften the soles of her feet. Put some on cotton balls and massage into your…
  • As you start to eat healthier and exercise more, your body will purge impurities(toxins) it has stored. They have to go somewhere and sometimes end up making us break out. For an inexpensive over the counter cleanser, I like Cetaphil or Phisoderm. They are very gentle and Ph balanced to your skin. There are some good acne…

  • I watch it everyday. Love it! There are 2 back to back shows, those 2 shows & How clean is your house...That's a gross one too.!
  • I made this last night, I used to use hamburger and ground pork...With my diet changes and trying to get my family to eat better, I substituted the meats with ground turkey. I also substituted the eggs with milled (ground)flax seed and water. Milled flax can replace the fat(ie. butter) or the eggs in recipes. I put…
  • We love baked Sweet Potato french fries. I also make a nice pasta salad... bowtie, penne, shell or any kind of salad type pasta(whole grain or wheat) cooked per package instructions 1/2 or 1 cantalope cubed depending on the # of people serving 2 pears cubed mix all three ingredients with Poppy Seed salad dressing, I like…
