  • You can do it again! I am just getting back to this myself recently. I found that MFP has really been the main thing that really works as long as you make your health a focus and priority throughout whatever else may be going on in life. I wish you well on this journey!
  • I also like organic plain, low-fat yogurt mixed with my favorite high fiber, high protein granola and a handful of frozen raspberries. The berries turn everything a happy pink color while they defrost in the cereal!
  • I like Wasa multigrain crackers - almost anything can go on them and they are lower calorie than regular bread. Lately, I use about 2 tbsp garden veggie spreadable cream cheese, some baby spinach and a slice or two of low sodium deli turkey (Smithfield is a good brand) - the cracker is very crunchy and grainy and you can…
  • What an awesome idea. Is it too late to be a part of this challenge? I guess it really doesn't have to be. Yesterday I went 5.5 miles. Today I went 3.36 miles. I have many miles to go.
  • I am finding all this helpful - for I believe it is my love for beer, especially porters, that makes it tough for me to lose much weight. But then I find that when I lay off the porter or the stouts, or the IPAs, or ambers, I actually feel physically better. I suppose for me, it helps to just WAIT FOR IT before I really…
  • Hi! I live in New Mexico. We can grow beans really well here. This year I am planting green climbing beans. Last year we had great success with bush beans. Also, jalapenos, serranos and Big Jim (Anaheim) peppers, green "fancy" leaf lettuce, cherry tomatoes, and lots o' herbs! We have fairly late cold snaps here because of…
  • Welcome to the site! Congratulations on your 2 pound loss (it's just the beginning!). Cute kitty by the way. I have 2 of my own:) Feel free to add me to your list of friends. Amy from Albuquerque
  • a little of both, but if I had my druthers, sour and crunchy!
  • Yum! I do tuna burgers like that, with an egg, or with bread crumbs. SO good!
  • Everyone is so wise, you should listen to them! If you feel burned out, or it is taking over your entire life, make a deal with yourself to have an extra day off from working out, and lower your calorie intake. But don't give up completely, or you may regret it. We all need to find a happy medium to maintain and not regain…
  • Hi! Nice to meet you! Feel free to add me as a friend :) Amy from Albuquerque

  • Chocolate Lovers Unite! The problem with Florida is, chocolate melts too fast there! Welcome, Kelli. I have been here for about 5 weeks and have lost about 1 lb a week, on average. This site works, even if you just want to lose a little weight. There is so much support from other users. Feel free to add me as one of your…
  • I wanted a lot bigger morning snack - for some reason I just felt the need to eat more - but I stayed within the right portion size and drank about 2 glasses of H20 with it. That carried me all the way to lunch. Self-restraint. The right portion size ended up being all I really needed anyways.
  • Welcome to the site! Hopefully something will go by your joining up :) I have never been on a website like this before, nor tried to lose weight with any serious effort, but if I can lose weight, I believe you can too. Feel free to add me as a friend on here and we can get the encouragement we need! Good luck! Amy from…
  • Welcome, Jess! Hope you are finding what you need- feel free to add me as a friend.
  • Welcome to MFP, Justin I think this is one of the friendliest and useful sites around. I think a key is finding as many friends as you can on here because the support system here is awesome! Good luck to you! Amy from Albuquerque

  • I am right there on the weekend diet cheating. The things that help me the most are: 1. Plan a special weekend meal that is healthy and satisfying and makes you feel special. My boyfriend and I will plan all of our other weekend meals around it. For example, I have been planning 1 nice big healthy meal, like last weekend…
  • Get some new skinny jeans! That'll keep me motivated to keep the weight off.
  • Ugh! As an apartment dweller since my college days, I can totally appreciate your frustration. It just adds another layer of stress to your day that you just don't need. Are the noisy neighbors nice people at all? I don't really know my apartment neighbors and a lot of us don't know our neighbors. I wonder if they have any…
  • Hey Juanita! Welcome to the site. Hope you find lots of friends here since that is one of my main helps to losing weight. I've been here since mid-March and I love it! Good luck with your weight-loss goals. Amy from Albuquerque
  • Thanks for the ideas. We should have a "yoga ring" on MFP to keep on talking. I used a yoga video yesterday morning that had me huffing and puffing like yoga doesn't usually do to me, and that's what made me wonder. It's "Yoga for Weight Loss" from the YogaZone studio. It's been out for years. This video does lots of…
  • Thanks, Tarzena that gives me a good ballpark idea. I might start googling yoga and METs online to see what other people are saying. Yoga (in general) has indeed been one of the most beneficial workouts I have ever had for many years. Unfortunately, I stopped doing it for about 5 years and I am glad to be back in the…
  • Hi Mike! Welcome to the site. I think it is the friendliest place on the WWW. Hope you get lots of support here during your journey. Feel free to add me as a friend for encouragement. Amy from Albuquerque
  • It is confusing and since I am still new, I wondered that too. This is how I see it: A typical American (there are a lot of non-Americans on this site!) burns around 2000 calories a day, which is what all of our food labeling is based on. If I want to lose weight at a certain rate, MFP suggests I cut back to 1510 cals a…
  • I love your story, although it is sad and hard to read. Thank you for sharing. The significant health history in my family is a great motivator for me too, although I am sad that certain family members have been unwell. My maternal grandfather was obese and suffered major depression (and thus, social isolation). He…
  • They are pretty different types of yogas. Vinyasa is more like ashtanga, a flow and aerobic typs. Hatha is "physical" toning and stretching and you tend to hold certain poses longer. I think there is a yoga entry in the MFP exercise database, although I am a bit leery of how you calculate calories burned for yoga! I like…
  • Hi! Welcome to the site! I think this is one of the friendliest websites ever. I'm sure you will get more responses than just from me and yourself () Feel free to add me as a friend because the friendship and encouragement on this site is really great. Good luck! Amy from Albuquerque

  • Hi Jaks! Welcome to the site! Feel free to add me as a friend. I have found folks here to be really supportive and positive about our journey. The support and encouragement (+the help with counting calories and learning about my body) are the main reason I am here. I am new to weight-loss, but not new to exercise. I love…
