  • I am using a food scale. In fact I recently calibrated it. I do meal prep, and everything is weighed and/or measured. I weigh yogurt and peanut butter to be more accurate. I wish it was just that!
  • Lack of sleep causes hunger. A mid afternoon coffee kills my appetite and gives me a little boost. Try and get some sleep!!
  • What is most frustrating to me is that with 150 lbs to lose, and it still being the first month, I should be losing pretty quickly. If this was a couple months into things I'd be expecting a plateau or slow down.
  • I am not eating back exercise cals. Was hoping that since I'm so overweight that I could safely lose larger amounts by running at such a large deficit. I know I just need to stay the course, not sure if daily weigh ins or monthly is the answer for me. Tape measure? Pounds do matter. One thing of note, I'm very tired often.…
  • Sometimes the entry doesn't have a gram or ounce option, so I'll manipulate the measurement in cups/tsp/tbsp to make calories match. I weigh tomatoes and onions, but not peppers. I'm really trying to be accurate!!!
  • Only weighing weekly. I've had issues w scale, but I thought I needed more accountability and that maybe I would have better results if I tracked my weight closely. The scale makes me crazy, I've always had a very hard time losing weight. I just thought this go around I had all the right tools lined up and it wouldn't be…
  • I'm already using a food scale to measure everything. Everything. Trainer weighs me on a Rice Lake scale, you stand on and hold out 2 devices by your side for 60 seconds and it gives you this detailed report. How accurate the bf/muscle percentage is is definitely debatable. But it is accurate in that I gained this week. My…
  • Oh, trainer said I've gained 4 lbs of muscle...that doesn't make sense either.
  • There's an expression that goes something like. "After 40 you choose *kitten* or face..." Thin, you lose that fullness/youth in the face. Fat, you keep that plumpness. Sophie's choice...lol!
  • A vast majority of people at gyms are super encouraging and supportive to see people who are showing up and trying to better themselves. Be not afraid!
  • Everything with the exception of bananas and avocados (which I buy organic so they do tend to be very similar in size versus regular which can be huge) is weighed or measured. I do a big meal prep and pre-portion it all out. I don't log red wine vinegar, yellow mustard, fresh herbs or small amounts of lemon/lime juice. I…
  • Started turning my head back around, I had just come back from gym and weigh-in. I expected more, but I did make progress! I feel much better physically since I've started working out hard again. She did say I lost 1% body fat, so that is good as well. Never heard paper towel analogy, but it is quite accurate! Ultimately I…
  • Wake up around dawn, pee, open door for cats if hubby hasn't already. Back to bed, check Fitbit to see how many more hours I should sleep. Sleep a couple/few more hours. Cuddle, etc. with hubby Talk with cats who have come back inside. Feed cats. Out of bed anywhere from 10-12:30ish. If working out, we'll make a quick pot…
  • Greek yogurt mixed with salsa is amazing Greek yogurt, buttermilk, fresh herbs, spring onions, salt and pepper Homemade vinaigrette light on the oil Tahini and lemon juice Try to keep dressing calories between 50-75.
  • Been adding 1/2 c Fage plain and 4 oz of fresh blackberries to steel cut oats. OMG, so delicious and very satisfying! I used to do savory oatmeals, there were some great ideas in this thread. Going to try again, thanks for the inspiration!
  • I'm very fortunate to live on a tropical island and and I eat fresh fish several times a week. Different varieties of grouper, snapper, tilefish, kingfish, porgie, lionfish...yum!!!!
  • I bartend 8-11 hour shifts at a busy bar. I pack healthy snacks that are easy to pop in my mouth and are somewhat satisfying. A portion of almonds, rolled up cheese and deli meats, celery and peanut butter cut in bite sized pieces. Carrots and hummus is portable. A thermos of soup is awesome to pour into a mug and gulp a…
  • Hubby has this weekender lifted Jeep that he had new seats put into a few months ago. I couldn't get the seatbelt fastened, it was way too short. I had been blaming the new seats, instead of my rapidly increasing weight. Restarted MFP 4 weeks ago, and today the seatbelt fit quite easily!!!!
  • You're correct, an hour of cardio is not extreme. The point I was trying to make was increasing cardio isn't this magic bullet. You can't grind it out to drop big pounds if diet isn't great and the extra exercise does make you hungry. The poster's title is indeed correct. Diminishing returns...sucks doesn't it!
  • More cardio is not always better. Extreme exercise does ramp up your appetite, but unfortunately the caloric expenditure rarely makes up for the extra eating. There's a saying that is something to the effect of very little eating can undue a lot of work at the gym. I also like, you lose pounds in the kitchen and inches at…

  • I've never eaten "rotten flesh," am I missing out?
  • That's a pretty astounding claim . . . .
  • Yup, keep at it for increased core strength and to get those muscles ready for their unveiling!

  • Yup, what I was going to say. And congrats on the weight loss, well done!
  • I'd love one, but $500?!?! I have a nice Cuisinart dual blender/food processor that I've had for 3 years, use 3-4X a week, no problems, for $60. I've heard rave reviews about the Magic Bullet. I always laugh when I hear someone talking about how much they love their Magic Bullet. A couple years ago I was at an "adult"…
