  • I second Merrill's. I have several pairs.....love the zero drop for all things weightlifting! Very wide toe box, which I need! You feel very grounded when doing anything with a heel/hip drive!
  • I agree with much of what has been said. In addition I would add: Don't let emotions be the boss of you! Many a workout has been stolen by moments of sadness that blast your motivation out of the water. You get to choose how you feel. Just choose to smile and wave at all the D-bags out there......
  • Read through all of the responses.....it is hard to determine without seeing. Can you do stills( pix)? I have to agree with what sidesteel has commented on....and add this: There are many things that will affect your squat. Length of femur, flexibility of : hips, sacrum, dorsi flexion (flexing foot up), plantar flexion…
  • Hot bath w/ espsom salt and/or low level cardio to increase the blood flow (Helps recovery)!
  • Once you KNOW what those food portions look like from the standpoint that you have acutally looked a weighed portion this will work....but what if the OP has extremely large or small palms? It becomes subjective. And forgive me....but don't speak in absolutes....telling someone that to wipe out something like potatoes???…
  • 1) I think the PP is just saying that it is really hard to know what to adjust when you aren't starting from a place where you know "this is how many calories I am consuming". That would probably be a good place to start....weigh and measure food, at least for a 1-2 weeks to see if what you *think* you're eating is…
  • I have a high arch and require a wider toe box....*LOVE* Merrell! I'm on my second pair in their minimalist line. I do NOT advocate wearing a running shoe to lift in. I prefer to have a zero drop--which the merrells have. HTH!
  • I love, love, LOVE Gluteal goddess! I really noticed not only big changes in glutes, but core got way stronger and more defined as well.....I can't say enough about it! I'm back to heavy training for a few another few weeks.....but will probably go back to Strong Curves or Gluteal goddess around the holidays!
  • A short workout is better than no workout! But....if you are so exhausted that you are risking bad form/injury? Rest.
  • After doing SL for a quite a while, I felt like I needed more core rotation to get my core to tighten up: https://youtube.com/watch?v=k--dW53UQWs _This is one of my faves. I would do hanging leg raises over weighted ab work..... I also like just plain old back hyperextension <even after DL's> to ....But that's me! I agree…
  • A yogurt <especially a processed yogurt like culturelle> is only going to give you a minuscule amount of probiotic compared to either a capsule of probiotic or a food based fermented product. And if you've taken antibiotics, you absolutely should be supplementing with a good probiotic. 70% of the immune system resides in…
  • @sscarmack...that's great! You're strong enough, just working out the kinks will take you to the next level!
  • lol. #postcountshaming I suppose it could be a "thing".....there is certainly enough shaming and ridicule doled out on these forums, isn't there?! I was seriously wondering if you have a "must post a certain number" minimum/day to get to those numbers? I'm just doing some quick math....if you've been a member for 3…
  • Again, dunno the history....but anyone with 30k posts.....what the what? How do you train for that kind of posting???? Lots of wrist circles to avoid carpal tunnel??? lol.
  • As a trainer, I totally agree. Working with a person that knows their form and function is the best bet, if you can afford it--the op would benefit from one or 2 sessions. And FWIW.....I rarely post in the forums, so if there is drama attached to this OP, I'm not sure. He asked for comments on form, which is what I gave.
  • My first observation is that you are not "locking out" , or completely extending the hips at the top of your squat. You can squeeze a little bit more out of the movement and really maximize the work by doing this. Second....you're totally rushing the movement! You can't "know" when you get it <form> right unless you are…
  • Girl, you know I got this body in part from doing strong curves!! : ) @Lynette, If you are eating <healthful, nutritious>, and your milk supply isn't suffering....you're probably just fine! You're coming up on the 12 week transition<end of the "4th trimester">....when hormone, milk supply changes and baby growth spurts…
  • Ok, you're 8 weeks PP, and training for a marathon. Hormones in the "4th trimester" + breastfeeding + training= a lot of weight variation. Cut yourself some slack....make sure you are eating enough<you said you haven't changed the what you eat....if your activity increases and you're nursing, increase you caloric intake!>,…
  • @ Frank....."heavy" is pretty relative....if it is heavy for your wife, it's heavy! Right now I am lifting for endurance and alternate hypertrophy < so lighter weights/higher reps(60% of 1RM, alternating days of 75-80% 1RM> And there I weeks that I won't do bench at all, but if I do I will lift 95 lbs for 15 reps x…
  • True HIIT, as a PP said, pushes the anaerobic threshold at every working interval. You will not burn as many calories in 30 mins of steady state aerobics as you will in the same amount of time doing HIIT.
  • I don't do butter, but I lOVE my latte with a dollop of coconut oil.....in fact, Imma make one right now! BTW...I don't consume anything in hopes that it will make me lose weight! Food is to enjoy and nourish....in my humble opinion.
  • You have to consider source as well. Eastman Kodak is still one of the largest producers of vitamin E. They discovered during the chemical process of using soybean oil to develop film that the waste byproduct was chemically identical to naturally occurring tocopherhol. Mmmmm....waste byproduct.
  • Do you even read??? Try that first, and THEN ask questions.
  • Do you really not know what "toxins" accumulate in the body? Or are you just trying to be clever? Or are you just looking for further support to debunk the already debunked "detox" portion of this topic thus far? I can't tell if you are being earnest since you have a cheese head. My BFF is a liver surgeon--her husband is…
  • Yeah....No. Perhaps you're projecting. Nonsense? Something either works or it doesn't. Placebo and psychosomatic may be proven over a single course of treatment/study, but what are the chances that they recur with new treatments for new ailments. The logic and science just don't correlate to placebo effect. What is…
  • That's a good point. We just finished Thanksgiving here in the US. So many rich foods that you don't eat everyday--and lots of it. I probably ate about 20 pounds of food in a 3-4 day span. Talk about feeling heavy! I threw a bunch of greens "into the mix", which had a "cleansing" effect. Back to pre-turkey weight, feeling…
  • I have a science background and my *belief* is that results are powerful. Though I believe the mind/body connection is as well. <---luck has absolutely nothing to do with it.
  • I have responded really well to homeopathics when modern pharmaceuticals have failed me horribly ( read: bad reaction). I was skeptical when my< integrative> Dr. put me on them the first time ( many years ago) when pharma drugs made me really sick. But I couldn't argue with the results. But....alas....this is about the…
